Re: Feature: Dynasty Warriors: A Series That's Remarkably Adept At Producing Spin-Offs

Peterjr1

@RCGamer it's literally a persona game with ARPG instanced combat like DMC and Bayonetta and Kingdom Hearts. It is not a musou like AoC and was never marketed as such or said to be such by the developers. They explicitly said in an interview that it started as that but they changed course early in development but someone put it on the wiki that it is a Warriors game so it's a Warriors game 🤷‍♂️

Re: Koei Tecmo Brings Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires To Switch Early Next Year

Peterjr1

@XenoMario Scramble is not a musou game. It's structure is exactly the same as a normal persona game but with action RPG combat. It's not repetitive in the way others can be because its heavily story focussed, features dungeon exploration and a small character roster with heavy use of personas like the Astral Chain combat.

There's also no continuos mode with tons of levels after like Warriors games. It just ends.

Re: Random: #RipFortnite Is Trending On Twitter, As Players Protest Against Current State Of The Game

Peterjr1

@Emperor-Palpsy 'good riddance' lmao did you read the article? It's not going anywhere because a few people on twitter 'dont think it's how it used to be'.

When I was a kid we were all staying up all night playing on our Gameboys or playing top trumps during the lessons. Children who aren't disciplined by their parents or teachers will act out and latch on to whatever they have at their disposal. It's nothing unique to fortnite which you should know as an apparent educator.

Re: Animal Crossing Villagers Are Now Referencing Brewster, Is A Coffee Shop Update Imminent?

Peterjr1

@mr_benn yeah I imagine (if the DLC is more than just the seasonal events which is all they're promised so far) that if I didn't pre-order this game and instead got it after a while I would be more pleased but the 10/10 reviews assured me beforehand that this was a game I had to get asap lmao.

Yeah the minigames in the house I was referring to were the ones in the consoles in New Leaf! They had the island escape from Amiibo Festival which was really weirdly addictive and a puzzle game which I've forget the name of but was actually pretty in-depth. There are also the island minigames in New Leaf that aren't in NH but those were the ones I was talking about haha.

Re: Animal Crossing Villagers Are Now Referencing Brewster, Is A Coffee Shop Update Imminent?

Peterjr1

@mr_benn I know that as I've been playing since Wild World and put thousands of hours into the series by this point. It's not about wanting to do tons of things in a day but having options of things to do in the day. Do I fish for a bit or do I go diving? Do I focus on sorting out the garden or go work in the cafe and call it a day? Do I focus on grabbing up all the stuff to sell or do I move some furtniture around in my house and play some minigames. You're right that AC games are about longevity but removing things doesn't give you longevity at all. Removing two different collection items (sea creatures and art) and almost all interactivity outside of the bare minimum and making your island pretty doesn't add longevity or promote the kind of gameplay AC is known for.

Re: Feature: Why We Think Crazy Redd Will Bring His Artwork To Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Peterjr1

There's a major lack of content in this game which leaves me confused about the review score tbh. The cafe is gone, minigames are gone, art collecting and diving are gone as well as many other shops and stuff you think would be expanded on in the Switch version. So far the only seasonal update we've had has ONLY brought the seasonal items so these free DLC expansions better get more expansive or the high review scores were absolutely premature and undeserving.

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Peterjr1

@Anri02 the 'musou' part of 'musou' is the sprawling battlefields with thousands of enemies to kill. If that's not here, it's a hack and slash RPG like so many others in the genre. This game doesn't have those big battlefields and is structured and plays like P5 except for the battles which are engaged in the same way as P5. The combat you're looking at is ARPG, hack and slash combat. It's not musou.

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Peterjr1

@Trmn8r the overworld DOESNT have 'assloads of enemies'. A musou game requires the combat be map-based and flooded with enemies. This isnt. The combat when separated from the overworld of a musou is just action RPG combat. That's the whole point of what I'm saying. Kingdom Hearts Bayonetta etc. all have weaklings mixed in with the harder enemies in their combat. You're talking as if you haven't seen anything about this game.

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Peterjr1

@NoxAeturnus musou is a subgenre of hack and slash. Not every hack and slash is a 'musou'.
'If you remove what makes it different, it's the same' is a stupid argument. The environmental traversal and instanced fighting matter because that's what stops it from being a musou game. Musou games have non-stop battlefields where all the fighting takes place openly on the map. That's not the case here. Everything is exactly the same as P5 but the combat system was changed to be hack and slash, not 'warriors'.

They stated that Persona Warriors was their initial idea but that changed when Atlus said they wanted this to be a full sequel. This is like Three Houses, KT being brought on to co-develop the franchise's next sequel.

Can you stop using words without understanding the meaning? Musou is a type of hack and slash. The hype of hack and slash in P5 Scramble ISNT a musou just as Bayonetta, DMC, Kingdom Hearts and other ARENT musous

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Peterjr1

@dedant did you see the bit where the exploration was completely open with the stealth elements like P5 until a fight was engaged which took them into a sectioned off fight like most ARPGs? That's not Warriors. Warriors/musou is running across a Battlefield to either make it to the end while racking up as many kills as possible or capturing objectives while racking up as many kills as possible/needed. This isn't that.

Hack and Slash is the word most commenters are looking for. It's a hack and slash ARPG like KH, Bayonetta, DMC etc.

Here: https://youtu.be/6Gx4cIFByDI
At 1:03:00 it clearly shows the same traversal and exploration of P5 but with instanced hack and slash combat replacing the turn based battles

Re: Video: Persona 5 Scramble Treated To Flashy New Trailer, Demo Arrives Next Month

Peterjr1

@GhostGeneration musuo has a pretty clear meaning and gameplay format which this doesn't fill though. That's what I'm saying. The whole exploration and such functions the same as P5 except the battles are instanced action RPG battles like Kingdom Hearts with the Personas being similar to the legions in Astral Chain. The gameplay is so far removed from 'warriors' or 'musou' titles that to call this one would be as inaccurate as calling Kingdom Hearts, Bayonetta etc 'musou' titles.

Re: Birdo Joins Mario Kart Tour's Holiday Event As A Playable Character

Peterjr1

Why isn't Birdo and Pauline in MK8D? I get that MK8D is a completely new game if you didn't have the Wii U but I played it tons on Wii U and while I enjoyed the new battle mode, I want more charcaters and tracks. I would happily pay another £40 for a meaty expansion or £60 for a new game. Im not downloading another Nintendo gacha for a chance to play this content.

Re: Guide: Switch, Switch Lite Or 2DS XL? The Nintendo Christmas Console Buying Guide For Parents

Peterjr1

The 2DS XL is really good in general and the catalogue of games on the system is immense with so many gems. My game of the year this year is a 3DS title; Persona Q2. So many genuinely amazing RPGs, adventure games, racing games etc. as well as a good selection of virtual console games. Really well-rounded system with tons of value. The home menu customisation with badges is really addictive as well.
