Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 14th)

I will be playing Fire Emblem....

...

...

...

FATES. Birthright. I am then waiting on a pristine copy of Sacred Stones, which I will coin toss between that and Shadow Dragon. Then the other. After? Fates: Conquest, of course. After, do I replay Awakening or Echoes? So many good Fire Emblem options.

I am livid.

I am shaking.

I am literally about to go into a convulsive shock.

Chucklefish.. HOW DARE YOU. This choice of individual for this part is, quite literally, beyond racism and bigotry and a new word would be needed to fully encapsulate how hateful, insane and racist this is.

What. The. Actual. F*ck. I literally can no believe something as hideous and vile as this could even happen, what's next? I am crying. I am that upset right now. I am in shock.

This monster belongs in jail. Honestly, I can not support this game any longer, just his past association with it and now knowing the depth of his hatred, bigotry, intolerance and insanity, it taints the entire thing. As I type this, I am literally shaking. I am that upset. I don't know how this Marco man thinks Nazis are jokes.

[Removed] Mods: there is absolutely no reason to bring the POTUS into this discussion.

Too little, too late. This minor cryptic message is literally nothing. At the current rate that the US is dumping toxicity on our precious planet, it is only a matter of months before the entire planet is unlivable. ALL life will cease, thanks to capitalism. We had one chance, the Green New Deal, and the majority white criminal politicians shut it down because a brown femayle was the spokesbeing. Congratulations, we all will die thanks to racism and bigotry, 100% because of Trump

I didn't grasp this from the article: turn based option or only real time with pause? "Tactics Mode" implies a turn-based option, but you can never be too sure...

I was a big fan at the time of the Temple of Elemental Evil approach, where it was real time until combat hit - at which point it became turn-based, which really is the best and most straightforward way to play dungeons and dragons. I tried playing a real time campaign with my friends and it just really got muddled fast and the table got knocked over in the chaos which ensued. Don't try it.

I played and won the first one probably a dozen times, both on IOS and Switch. I have easily logged at least 300 hours total playing this game. I am a cat fanatic, I love cats, cats are life, cats are the best and if someone doesn't like cats I will literally get angry about it and confront them, violently if necessary. However I think I will pass on this one.

Re: Upcoming Fire Emblem: Three Houses DLC Reportedly Detailed Ahead Of Release

I can hear the creaking of the beams. Is that the sound of impending financial doom I hear? Games live and breathe on their DLC these days and with the utterly tepid late game response to Fire Emblem: Three Houses, a smart man would bet everything they had on this DLC flopping like an inebriated moose with two hooves tied together. More and more Fire Emblem: Three Houses proves that it does not have any sustainability and with every passing day fades more and ever more into obscurity.

Re: Guide: How To Share Games And Saves Across A Nintendo Switch And Switch Lite

This rather bs hassle is probably why I won't be double dipping with a mini, although having a switch that really has a good handheld experience would be great. I play my Switch desktop sometimes but mainly console. Just don't like it as a handheld.

Couple things, though. Yes, this save file stuff sucks. Also, even desktop with the full size switch, a lot of games are hard to play/read. I didn't see some kind of magnifying tech here to increase size, not sure I want to break out my reading glasses. Last, this is the first iteration, I have to wonder what else will come down the path. Perhaps a weird hybrid Switch/3ds or something that was BC with 3ds. A long shot, but I really love the clamshell design, and I have a ton of good games on backlog with my 3ds I haven't even played once, much less all the great ones I would revisit.

This should give us all hope that other region-locked gems of the past will find their way to western/worldwide releases. I remember back in the day my friend had a hacked Sega Genesis and was playing this Japan-Only game that looked incredibly fun. He said it was called "Shining Force" and I have longed to play that game ever since. I just hope someday they localize it and I am finally able to play it in my native language.

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Experiences "Best Digital Launch" In Franchise's History

Patron

We should put this in perspective. First, a lot of the time these digital sales are misreported, this is commonly known and part of me wonders if maybe someone over at (Un)Intelligent Systems or Nintendo weren't quietly putting their foot on the scale or sending a memo to their accounting departments to, as they say in the business, put a little "spice" on the sales figures.

Secondly, even at face value, the phrase, "Big Whoop" comes immediately to mind. So this game, which was heavily marketed and pushed and propped up like Bernie Lomax managed to make a few digital sales... at launch. Well, come back and tell me about retention, because retention is the ONLY dog in this race that truly matters. You know, Dexy's Midnight Runners, ever heard of them? No, me neither. Nobody has. Fire Emblem: Three Houses can be the "Come on Eileen" of 2019, because if all it has are a few digital sales and little retention, then it's no different than any other One-Hit-Wonder.

Let's all take a step back, shelve all your little waifu pillows for just one second, take a deep breath and for once look at this whole thing with a little perspective. Here already this so-called news is already almost pushed off the first page. There are more, bigger and better things to discuss about the Nintendo Switch. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a flash in the pan, I won't deny it made an initial impact, but just like that drunk dufus who shows up to the party wearing a lampshade and making a fool of himself, yes - everyone takes notice but once that clown passes out, it's GOOD RIDDANCE and GOODBYE.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses, okay you were (overly) promoted and pushed down everyone's throats and thanks to insane levels of marketing you made a few sales here and there, but unlike some people I am always looking forward. I'm not fooled by some shenanigans and likely fake numbers.

Nope, sorry.

Re: The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Gets An October Release Date On Switch

Good, this is good to hear. I feel like the Nintendo Switch is at a crossroads and for the first time ever, more vulnerable than it's ever been since it launched.

With the catastrophic failure of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the Switch has shown it's not a sure fire money making machine and there is a very legitimate chance that a failure like this could sink the entire platform and with it, possibly Nintendo itself.

I just pray to Mother Earth and the forest spirits that hopefully the Witcher 3 is a bonifide success and can help ease the pain of the failed Fire Emblem franchise to make any impact or do anything beyond fail on an epic scale.

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Becomes The Largest Fire Emblem Launch In US History

Patron

People often like to look at things like the launch and take this one tiny little piece of information and extrapolate from that success vs. failure.

Wrong.

What matters more is the retention. Fire Emblem: 3H was barely at the top a couple of weeks and was unceremoniously dethroned almost immediately by Crash Racers or whatever.

THAT is what matters here and it's a dark signal that this game was not a success and will very likely go down as a dumpster fire failure of Epic proportions.

I will again express my concern: I just hope this utter failure isn't so great that it drags Nintendo down with it. Nintendo has managed to eek by in the past with failures, like the WiiU, but I don't know about this one.

Re: RPG Vambrace: Cold Soul Scores Switch Release Date And Major Gameplay Improvements

Looks really great, as someone else above said - getting some strong Darkest Dungeon vibe... although I wasn't a big fan of the Switch port, I might be in the minority, but I had UI issues. Some games are just made for the PC.

Hopefully this is a good game, I'm looking over reviews right now and not seeing any that seem like it was a home run, although these rebalance changes hopefully hit the mark

Re: UK Charts: Fire Emblem's Reign Is Over As Crash Team Racing Speeds Into First Place

Wow, what a short time at the top, almost pathetic really. This makes me really think this is the final nail in the coffin of the Fire Emblem franchise, getting whacked like a silly little boy so easily has to be a complete embarrassment. This, coupled with them hiring a disgusting pervert voice act-individual, this failure is one of the biggest stories of the year --- not just in video games either, it's really the most newsworthy thing happening right now.

My only concern here is that this sinking Fire Emblem ship doesn't take Nintendo down with it.
