Re: Modder Puts Skyward Sword's Sandship Dungeon In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Panopticon

Skyward Sword is the worst game in the series for many reasons. It introduced a few good concepts like stamina, skydiving, and the addictive nature of the Goddess cubes, but almost everything else was lackluster or downright terrible.

I also don't think some people fully think through the technicalities of bringing an SSHD to the Switch. You have to put yourself in Nintendo's shoes and ask "is this financially viable?" SS relies heavily on motion controls, and we now have people who own just a Switch Lite, or people who prefer to play their Switch in handheld mode. They aren't about to start vigorously shaking their systems just to make Link swing his sword. Look at Super Mario Party, a title that requires separated joy con, and how Nintendo has abandoned any support for that game when it desperately needed DLC.

TL;DR: Considering how garbage SS was to begin with, and all the technical issues they would face by simply porting it to the Switch, I say it deserves a full remake along the lines of FFVII Remake, i.e. make drastic changes, remove most of the motion controls altogether (keep gyro aiming like BotW, gyro for skydiving) which means also overhauling all the motion-specific enemy weaknesses, etc. Just make it function more like a tried and true 3D Zelda.

@HeyItsFlapjack I'm also interested in realMyst, but it's way cheaper on mobile devices, I think $6 or $7. Plus, the original was played with a mouse so a touch screen would probably be a must for me, meaning no TV on Switch. I would be interested to see how both the mobile and Switch versions weigh against each other. The Switch might end up being the perfect blend of traditional controls and touch screen.

Re: Lots Of Mega Man Games Are Now On Sale On Nintendo Switch

Panopticon

Thanks for letting us know, but these have been the standard sale prices every time they go on sale, which is quite often. Trust me, I know. They keep reducing Legacy Collection by 33% to match the $9.99 price of the other titles, when on PS4 I believe it's gone somewhere around $4.00 or $5.00. I am biding my time until it's that low on Switch.

Re: Switch Is Getting A New Relaxing Puzzler Tomorrow, And It Only Costs $2

@DreamerDC @Seananigans "I was going to give them $h!t", "Gotta generate articles somehow", and "Why make an article for an uninspired piece of shovelware?"

You can absolutely have a differing opinion. If you don't like the look of the game, great. If I do, cool. That's not the point. The point you were making is that NL was in the wrong to generate a "clickbait" article like this one. The point I was making is that they weren't wrong to do so. Your opinion of the game, and my opinion of the game, is obsolete here. What matters is fact, which is irrefutable. It is fact that a game is being released on a Nintendo console; that is criteria enough to create an article about it.

For all the trolls above: I'm the kind of guy who likes big, single player action/adventure games. Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher, etc. That being said, I'll be on a plane next week with my 7yo, and this looks like a decent option for our flight. She's never flown before, I don't know how she will be (nervous, sick, etc). For $2, this can help keep her mind off of the flight if she needs a distraction.

Without Nintendo Life to post this story, I may or may not have seen a brief picture of it on the recent releases of the eshop, and I most likely would have ignored it completely. Instead, I watched the trailer above and I really enjoyed the peaceful ambience, which I think will be perfect to help calm a possibly nervous little girl.

TL;DR: This is a game I never would have bought without seeing this article.

Re: A Trilogy Of Kingdom Rush Tower-Defense Games Are Coming To Switch, Starting With Frontiers

Panopticon

The Kingdom Rush games are easily the best TDs I've ever played. You can usually wait for them to be on sale for $0.99 on your mobile device. Touch controls are perfect for them, I can't see myself trying to use a classic controller for this as sometimes things can get pretty frantic. Also, I don't see anything in this "Remastered" description that isn't in the original game. Curious why it would be called a remaster.

EDIT: The original games have 3 or 4 heroes unlocked, with the remaining heroes all locked behind paywalls. Depending on the price and assuming all heroes are unlocked, this may actually be a bargain. Time will tell, I guess.

Re: Monster Boy Celebrates Its First Anniversary With A Half-Price Digital Sale

Panopticon

@Future777 I know you don't have anything to do with Sega and the Genesis Classics on Switch, but I'm wondering if you have any insight regarding the trademarks for Wonder Boy? I heard there were legal issues which is why Sega quietly pulled both Wonder Boy games from the Switch version. And does that have anything to do with why your game is called Monster Boy and not Wonder Boy?

Re: Cutesy Co-Op Dungeon-Crawler Riverbond Arrives On Switch Next Month

Panopticon

@Chunkboi79 Same for me. I sunk a good 10-15 hours in, then I got stuck so I looked up online to see where to go next and I went down a rabbit hole of all these extras I had missed. "By now you should have all these weapons and all this extra health and if you've missed any of them you're a complete moron" and I felt disheartened and gave up

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Outlines Next Update, Improves "Every Aspect" Of The Game

Panopticon

@ibis_87 Walking, talking to the townsfolk, picking up foraged items...none of these things uses up stamina. Watering crops, hoeing the ground, chopping down trees, using the pickaxe on rocks...these are actions that do use stamina.

There is a level up system, the more you do in a given area, the better you will get at it and the less stamina you will use, i.e. if you chop down a lot of trees, you'll get better at chopping down trees.

Beginner tip: You start the game in the Spring, head south into the woods and cross 2 bridges, you'll find a place where wild spring onions grow. They don't sell for much, but they will help with your stamina problem. Your first days should be spent watering crops and chopping down trees; just go to bed early if you have nothing else to do and you've run out of stamina. Keep this up, keep earning money, use that money on more crops, etc. Eventually you will earn enough money to spend it on other things besides crops. And you will also find a balance in terms of how many crops you should have at one time; if you have too many, you'll spend your whole day / stamina bar on watering them.

Another beginner tip: One of the first quests is to buy a coop and raise a chicken. Do not do that until you have first built a silo, which stores your cut grass as hay which grows all over your farm and is free food for your animals.

Re: Random: One Metroid Fan Has Fixed Other M For All Time

Panopticon

@countzero I completely agree. We inherently understand that a game like Metroid needs collectibles for it to be fun, so obviously Samus will probably lose her stuff in the sequel so you can find more stuff. I don't really need an explanation as to why all the stuff is lost. And I really, really don't need Other M reminding me over and over that I already have all the stuff, I just don't have daddy's permission to use it yet.
