Re: You'll Have To Wait A Little Longer For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 News, It Seems

NoTinderLife

They delayed BotW 2 for the New Switch, just like what they did with Wii U. I bet they already finished the game, they are just holding on to it for their new system. In the meantime, play a Dynasty Warrior game while you wait and pretend it's BotW2.

Nintendo likes using Zelda as a transitioning game for their consoles. Twilight Princess for GC and Wii, BotW for Wii U and Switch and now Botw2 as well. It's like killing 2 birds with one stone - selling the same game on 2 consoles.

Re: Rumour: New Switch Model Launching Early 2021 Alongside A Strong Game Lineup, According To Reports

Oh no! Nintendo is going to delay BotW 2 for The New Switch now. I bet they will make the game run 60fps@1080 for the New Switch and 30fps for the old one.

Nvidia's new GPU uses AI to upscale games to 4K, but internally they are running at a lower resolution. Some of you guys should keep up with new tech - 4K is possible on Switch. The upscaling looks as good as native 4K because of Deep Learning tech. Nvidia is at the forefront of AI hardware, Nintendo made the right choice with Nvidia.

Re: No, Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2's Voice Work Isn't Complete

@contractcooker @Foxorroxors Do more research, it's not the speed of the SSD - Sony even allows you to install your own SSD into the PS5.

The zero-loading has to do with the chip that loads data from SSD into graphics card memory, even bypassing the CPU. The fast loading is not just about having zero wait time when you start a game. It dynamically load data into the graphics card, that means devs can create games that couldn't be done before due to memory constraint.

@BlueOcean "The SSD of Series X is also extremely fast and the extra speed of PS5 while real, it is overblown."

Do you know that PS5's SSD speed is over twice the speed of XBOX? And it's only possible not because of the drive - but Sony's proprietary chip that controls the I/O operations, it loads data directly into graphics memory.

Games that are developed for PS5 cannot be ported to XBOX or even PC, until Intel or AMD made a new PCI controller that can do that - but seems unlikely as it needs deep integration with graphics card. To me, this makes PS5 a real console - having feature that is unique to the system. That's the reason people bought a console years ago, unlike recent consoles that are reusing PC tech or mobile tech like Switch.

@MarioBrickLayer BotW is GotY material, it's epic - Odyssey is not even in the same league. People got tricked into buying it because of the hype-up review.

Nobody is going to buy XBOX, the zero-loading system of PS5 already made it obsolete. MS thought that if they made XBOX's processor a little bit faster then they will win over PS5, but they didn't anticipated Sony's secretly developing a chip that can load data directly from SSD to graphics memory and bypassing the CPU.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the 'showoff' game that Sony will use as a launch title to demonstrate the insane loading system of PS5. The game constantly shift between worlds, not even the fastest PC can run a game like this.

Zelda BotW 2 will be out at the end of the year to combat Sony's PS5. It's the only thing Nintendo has that can push more sales for Switch during the shopping season.

Nintendo did the same thing 3 years ago with BotW vs Horizon Zero Dawn. Sony's more realistic graphics vs Nintendo's gameplay - BotW won the game of the year and Horizon disappeared (until recently it was resurrected for the PC).

Re: Unreal Engine 5 To Support Current-Generation Consoles And Mobile Platforms

NoTinderLife

Epic already said UE5 is supported on mobile devices, of course Switch can run it. It's stupid to assume that just because it's supported - your system will produce graphics like what they showed in the presentation.

Devs will continue to use UE5 to make simple mobile games and port them to Switch while those that uses dynamic global illumination only works with PS5/XBSX and PC. If they port those games to Switch the lighting will be pre-rendered and baked in, they won't be dynamic and required a lot of work.

Re: Unreal Engine 5 To Support Current-Generation Consoles And Mobile Platforms

NoTinderLife

Epic used PS5 to sell Unreal Engine 5 because of it's ultra fast loading system. Unreal and Unity are notoriously famed for their long loading time, PS5 had solved their problem.

I still think a one size fits all solution for game development is not ideal. Financially it helps, by reducing development time but in the long run your game is yet another mass produced product that's unoptimized and requiring more time to fix than to build. A tailored product customized for a specific platform yielded better results, but game devs are too greedy these days and want their games on all platforms and too lazy to port them individually.

@electrolite77 @Emperor-Palpsy @Nourldean @westman98 You guys know that I am comparing Switch to the SNES and Wii right? No one is talking about Sony or MS consoles, the article is about Nintendo consoles.

My point is: all SNES games are 100% original, Wii has 21% original games and Switch currently has 2.5% original games.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Sold 55.77 Million Units Worldwide

@iWinRar There's also a lot of garbageware in the Switch eshop. There are around 1200 Wii games, on Switch there's over 2000. I'd say at least 1000 of them are garbage.

It's actually worse than Wii because those garbage from Wii were also ported to Switch plus garbage from other consoles and mobile phone.
