Animal Crossing: New Horizons has now shifted more than 22 million units worldwide. All this success has resulted in a lot of companies using the game as a marketing tool of sorts to get a little extra publicity during these tough times.
The latest brand to take advantage of the lifestyle sim's popularity is the world's largest furniture retailer, IKEA. The Swedish company's Taiwanese Facebook page recently revealed its 2021 catalogue and alongside this, it shared an Animal Crossing version - featuring fully-furnished IKEA-style houses.
Take a look below, and for some extra photos - check out the official IKEA Taiwan Facebook page.
Did you get any ideas from IKEA about how to furnish your house in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Tell us down below.

Ok now that’s extremely cute. I did love the Ikea expansion for Sims 2 so it would be cool to see their stuff in ACNH!
Needs more furnitures for ACNH and proper interaction on each of them !
I wonder who paid who for this advertising?
I wish building IKEA furniture was as fast as the crafting in New Horizons...
Animal Crossing: IKEA Home Designer coming in 2021?
@Silly_G
But the HHD features have been implemented on ACNH by default (house furnishing, take photos at Harvey's Photopia)
It's neat that this has kinda become a thing now. Though I am still surprised it's okay. Like, normally don't you need permission to use someone else's product in your advertising?
I’ve been playing almost every day since launch (5 months to the day now) and I still feel like I only have accessories and just a few furniture items, so my house looks like a charity shop with beds and toilets everywhere.
@Heavyarms55 I'm sure Nintendo approved it. No way they'd let it happen otherwise.
Love how on the 2nd pic they used the villager's back to mimic the hanging lamp and sofa pillows lol
Kudos to Ikea, alot of work went into that...
Gorgeous. The only problem is, you actually have to find the recipes for them.
That's a lot of effort, rather than just a quick stint at being young with the young ones!
@echoplex LUL same here, except I started my island on march 31!
@LatsaSpege
I might have structured that sentence weirdly. ^^ I meant to say that they made an effort. INSTEAD of just doing a quick stupid thing, in what could be deemed a weak attempt at latching on to something that's popular with the kids.
@Pod Thanks for that! It just made no since to me.
I wish Reviews and News Articles (the real ones, not the other ones we usually read like what the twitter, instagram, hacker, random cleaner lady said) had so many photos in NintendoLife.
Can anyone from Taiwan send me a physical copy please
@Anti-Matter But unlike Home Designer, we cannot rearrange the placement of furniture or change wallpaper/floor in an Animal's home the way we like in New Horizons. Sure, we can use Harv's studio to recreate an Animal's home interior, but they're not actually living in it so it's different.
@michaeldwbyun Those are just Facebook posts. There's no physical copy for it (only the one with real IKEA furniture without Animals).
@Heavyarms55 They're not selling AC furniture but their own, and it's just Facebook posts. As long as you're not directly profiting off AC (as in selling AC themed passport holder — that kickstarter got taken down), it's apparently okay. Same goes for KFC and McDonalds showcasing their island custom designs.
@HADAA
I suspect we will get HHD team (Digby, Lyle and Lottie) as seasonal update on ACNH.
Digby has his poster on ACNH so he will be on ACNH by updates someday.
If they are exist, we can see a house makeover for animal villagers with cost of money to do makeover.
@HADAA But they are using it in their advertising. You can't just throw Pikachu or Master Chief in your commercials/ads. Like, I guess Nintendo is cool with it, but I feel like they could totally shut it the hell down if they wanted.
Is it wrong if I’m actually interested in buying from IKEA now?
@Thunderbee Their mission has been accomplished!
LABO is just like IKEA, you need to assemble everything yourself.
Maybe IKEA should collaborate with Nintendo: you buy an IKEA furniture, it comes with an Amiibo tag that can activate the actual furniture in the Animal Crossing game.
@NoTinderLife That is a very appealing idea, nice one!
And this promotional effort is genuinely cute and clever, so kudos to IKEA.
This catalogue is going to become a collector's item...
@LatsaSpege Where I live, LUL is a word for male genitalia, mostly used negatively or as name calling, just saying
So that’s what they are busy working on instead of shipping real items? I’ve been trying to purchase something for months from Ikea, no shipping is available to my state and store pickups are never available because they are backed up... Covid has make IKEA useless
@Shambo oh, where I live, LUL means something weird/Funny is in the last sentence! (and is a twitch emote) Sorry for the confusion!
@LatsaSpege Don't worry, I'm not that easily offended or anything, especially not if it's not even aimed at me. I thought I'd just say it.
I figured it was something like "LOL" indeed ^^
