A listing for a collector's edition of the upcoming Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has been spotted online, potentially giving the game away on a secondary, fancy physical release.
The listing in question can be found on WT&T, a French retailer which previously leaked the existence of The Witcher 3 on Switch ahead of time alongside several other sites. The listing allows customers to register their interest for the product and shows a price of €82.85.
We've grabbed a screenshot for you in case the link gets taken down:
The site also has a similar page for a standard version of the game, with that edition priced at €69.99. Both copies have a placeholder release date of 31st December 2020.
Of course, earlier this week, Amazon UK just so happened to list a Switch edition of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, before taking it down once the press had caught wind of it. The two incidents likely aren't related, but retailers sure are teasing us at the moment.
Naturally, a retailer listing doesn't confirm the existence of such a product, but the original Zelda: Breath of the Wild did launch with fancy collector's editions of its own, including the highly sought-after Master Edition. It wouldn't be a surprise to see a similar deal arrive for the sequel.
Would you snap up a pricier collector's edition if Nintendo was to release one? Are you still eagerly awaiting our next slice of Breath of the Wild 2 news? Share your thoughts with us below.

👀 Yay! Can't wait

Ow yes!
I think BoTW 2 will release next year. They might announce the versions soon.
Could be fake
@Mr_Persona ... but COULD BE REAL!
Fakeeeeeeee
Same site also list Metroid Prime 4 for October 30th 2020, the same day Pikmin 3 Deluxe releases, so I guess it's most likely fake
It would be nice to have BoTW 2 for Xmas season.
Hopefully Nintendo will bring back the classic dungeons.
This is real and they'll definitely announce it on the Nindies Direct today!
(... ... ..............................)
Again another hint that BOTW2 is coming sooner than you think november 2020 is m’y guess
It seems like they do it on purpose to gain site traffic.
Nice. Loved ZBOTW, no regrets getting the collectors edition. ZBOTW2 CE will be right next to it on my shelf.
Just need a date!
Played Horizon Zero Dawn at home and ZBOTW on the GO back in 2017 Switch launch. The idea that it could happen again with ZBOTW2/Forbidden West in the PS5 launch is Amazing!
Been a lot of random rumours lately. Reckon we'll be seeing quite a few irrational people getting upset when a good portion of them turn out to be false.
Why would there not be an SE for this game? It's the sequel to the best selling Zelda title...
If Europe gets a real version this time, I’ll probably pick it up.
BotW2 being a holiday 2020 title. Guys, it's happening.
It's probably just a place holder just like they have on Amazon for any up coming games.
Doesnt mean anything, we know its happening, so why the hype?
The Hype is real! BotW was amazing! This one could even be greater!
A darker version of BotW with dungeons and creepy stuff!
It’s been almost 4 years since the original BotW came out. It’s not out of the realm of possibility at all Nintendo drops #2 this holiday. With no Halo Infinite this fall, it’d be the biggest holiday release by a mile
BotW 2 Confirmed!!!
I would love to get a multi-CD soundtrack with the new Zelda game! I'm also trying not to get too excited about it coming this year. Could it really?!
Stop, just stop. BOTW 2 is not coming this year. Do not get my hopes up like that. There's no way that's true. It would be wonderful and glorious if it was, but it's not. No way.
Realistically, I feel like this retailer is just trying to get some extra eyeballs on their site by throwing a "speculative" item on their site.
I believe it will be our Holiday season game of this year.
The more this happens, the worse it gets for the Zelda community. The Cadence of Hyrule DLC was clearly not enough to suit Zelda fans.
@WagnerDDS
I highly doubt it's going to be a 2020 title and I've doubted this ever since they announced it at E3 2019. For a game this big, it wouldn't take a mere 3.75 years to develop.
Clearly the Indie Direct today is a ruse and it will actually be an in depth three hour insight into Breath of the Wild 2 which will be released this Friday and there will be a generous 20 hour demo released at the end of the video!
Get ready people!
Will we get a collector's edition? Yes of course.
...but is it what is listed here? Probably not.
BOTW is something we just need to wait for, same as Bayonetta 3.
I will bet anyone like anything at all that this will not release in 2020. Even when Nintendo do announce a release date for this , I would then expect another delay after that. That’s how these 3D Zelda usually go! 2022 for me. Xxx
I've never bought a collectors edition of any game. I don't display my games or console. And collectors editions always come with stuff that looks cool, but takes up space, and looks too nice to throw out 🤪. I'll admit, I'm still tempted for botw 2.
I'd only buy a special edition if it gave me additional content for the game, like if it was bundled with a season pass or something. Not fussed about overpriced plastic collectibles, I've got enough Lego and amiibo for that, thank you very much.
I got the one with the Master Sword statue 😁 I had Patricia Summersett sign it at MCM. She wrote on it in Hylian because she's that freaking cool, so now I'm hoping for another statue so I can maintain a full set 😂
@Grandiajet theres still a chance it could come out in holiday 2020.
I want a special edition system to go along with it.
BotW2 is the only weapon Nintendo has against Sony this Xmas shopping season. Everyone will be talking about PS5 a few months from now. Without BotW2, no one will remember Switch anymore.
@NathanTheAsian they will reuse a lot from BotW, the engine, most of the world, etc. It can be done.
@NoTinderLife
Well that is plain wrong.
Switch will be very popular this Xmas as well as PS5 and Series X.
@NoTinderLife But the Switch is still selling very well and even have stock shortages.
Also at launch the other consoles will have less must have games.
@NoTinderLife:no one will remember the switch....(cough)bs(cough)
@Agramonte Please no. I didn't have a social life for about two months, I don't think I can handle it a second time.
@NoTinderLife Unless the PS5 happens to be a hybrid machine and costs $300, I'm pretty sure people will not only still be talking about the Switch, but buying it in very large quantities, well after the PS5 launch.
I’d love to get the collectors edition.
My zelda big boxes

And I still need to play Breath of the Wild. XD Hopefully before too long!
I'm not trying to get too excited as I recognize that "date" is just a placeholder, but I would get a Collector's Edition again depending on what's included.
Surprise me nintendo
I don't regret buying the special edition of BOTW if even for the giant box alone. Have that displayed in my office. So, I'm anxious to see what a special edition would include!
I'm not sure what chance there is it could release this year... we know so little about what it will actually be. (Nintendo could fix all that in one Direct, of course)
Animal Crossing has been so successful, I wonder if Nintendo feels less pressured. What is the counter-programming to the Xbox PS5 launch in the eyes of Nintendo, I wonder.
I'm not planning on PS5 or XBSX this year, so a Zelda game would be very, very welcome! Honestly, though, I'd take a dose of all the rumors to hold me over: Skyward Sword, 3D Marios, and Prime Trilogy. I'm okay waiting if BOTW2 will get richer in the meantime.
Part of me wants it to come out soon, but another part of me wants Nintendo to be patient with this one.
Yes, I know, last time Nintendo got a Zelda sequel quickly out the door, we got Majora's Mask, a masterpiece. But development pipelines are different now.
We'll see. I had written this off as a 2021 release — and that was, I thought, being optimistic. However, if this is Nintendo's ace up their 2020 sleeve, it would explain the silence. You can afford being mysterious with such a game as your trump card.
@NathanTheAsian Yeah, but you are forgetting they have been building the sequence on the same engine with most of the same assets from the previous one. This makes the development process much faster.
@sketchturner but also be fake because this just started happening that people are putting up fake switch games in stores or doing fake screenshots of the game in cart online store. The Skyward Sword is fake because Nintendo would already have announce the game before that ever shows up, but they didn't. And remember Nintendo said that BOTW 2 will take awhile to finish, they said they got held back because of corona. I believe the real announcement of the game date release will be in November, December, or October.
I'm getting tired of waiting for them to release an update. Although, it's either delayed till 2021 or...it's delayed till 2021 like almost every game. 2021 better be the year we bounce back from this monstrosity we call a virus!
Are people really expecting this to be out this year? At the start of the year I was thinking perhaps, but given that they've shown us absolutely nothing ever since I don't hold out much hope that it's near enough completion to make it this year. Q1 2021 at the earliest imo
@tourjeff
Classic dungeons wouldn't work with BotW freedom.
When there's smoke, there's fire? 15-25 cents would probably be a fair bet for a 2020 release now. A little bit more reason to be optimistic.
Next year surely? Zelda's 35th anniversary year.
Amazon uk took down the Skyward Sword HD Switch listing recently so this too could be a mistake or even a mistakenly early reveal.
Can't see this being a 2020 release at all. The fact Skyward Sword is being rumoured to be released is that it'll be a stop gap game to fill in for the delay, much like Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were on the Wii U.
@MrBlacky of course dungeons would work.
The boss stages were a sort of dungeons if you think about it and they worked just fine.
Nintendo just need to give them a more 'classic' feeling.
Wow, and it will launch on 12/31 to qualify as launching this year!
@tourjeff
I assume you mean the divine beasts? They were made of a special material where Link couldn't climb, which made sense in the world of BotW.
But how would you do that in a classic dungeon with normal surfaces like rock, earth, stone, and so on? How would you explain, that Link can climb basically everywhere in the over world, but can't do it in a dungeon?
@MrBlacky thanks for reminding me the name of the bosses. Yes, I meant the divine beasts.
Well, they can still do, i.e. Ice temple made by crystals, fire dungeon with rocks too hot to touch, slippery rocks, rooms with ceilings, doors blocking entries, spikes/traps blocking your way etc.
When there is a will there's a way 😉😁
@MrBlacky Shrines also have impassable areas. Works fine. I think the Divine Beasts worked well in the context of the game, but I couldn't help feel something similar. I missed them a bit. Kinda hoping for the return of some tricky dungeons/levels, like the original Zelda, but I do have to admit that breaking up the puzzly bits into smaller engagements probably makes for a smoother and more free gameplay experience in BotW. I wouldn't want to mess with something I loved so much and so many others did as well. Next game can have a different balance, though.
@NoTinderLife People are buying the Switch today. Many their first time. Plenty of people finally bought it because of Animal Crossing. They are just getting started. PS5 and XBSX will sell, for sure, but it will likely take years for them to reach the installed base of Switch
Others have mentioned how the consoles meet different needs, as well.
There's plenty of room for both.
BotW2 might distract a little, but my estimates are that many with enough money to buy in during the launch of PS5 or SBSX will have enough money to pick up BotW2 on the side for the Switch they already own.
@Jack_Goetz The Skyward Sword port may be fake (they have to square the motion control circle somehow). Even if it were real, Nintendo released a port (NSMBUD) and a new entry (Mario Maker 2) from the same franchise within six months of each other once before.
@tourjeff
Yes, we can only wait and see. But one thing is for sure: It will NOT be the same environment as in BotW and I'm very curious what Nintendo is cooking.
@tourjeff I hope so, too. When I first found BotW's Forgotten Temple on my first playthrough, I thought it was a temple from the old games and I was so stoked, but too weak to get past the guardians until later. Hours later, I returned, but all that was in there was disappointment.
I blame the localization. Shouldn't have thrown "Temple" around in a Zelda game. "Forgotten Chamber" or "Forgotten Complex" would have been just fine. > : (
@KingBowser Calamity-19
I hope Nintendo releases a BOTW 2 edition, Switch lite.
Let me do my best DJ Khalid impression here:
Another one
@Euler You're very hopeful, I like that! I get your point about them having difficultly with porting Skyward Sword but they've managed to find work arounds for everything so far, including Pikmin 3. I honestly can't see BotW 2 being released this year though. They've not made enough hype about it.
@Jack_Goetz Yeah, the lack of hype is the biggest argument against it. That and delays due to COVID. On the other hand, if there really is going to be a big holiday title it will be something that hasn't been hyped at all this year. And something that we've actually heard of is a better bet than something we haven't. So it's not completely hopeless, but it's more likely not to happen. Which is why I wouldn't give it more than a 25% chance.
@Euler I completely agree. It'll probably be a shadow drop of Super Mario 3D World or this Super Mario 3D back catalog collection that keeps coming up.
Either way, they're not going to be 'new' games, so a lack of hype would make sense. And basically, Mario sells...
Cue the mxr nut button if this game comes out this year, even better if it just drops with no warning at all, social media will be at a fever pitch that way.
@MrBlacky I cannot agree with you concerning dungeons. The freedom to explore the overworld co-existed well with locked (hidden) shrines and initially inaccessible Divine Beasts. If I understand you correctly, that is.
Also, how do you mean that the environment will not be the same?
The map will be, as Aonuma says. I always had the feeling that the LTTP-style Sacred Realm/Dark World would be making a return at some point, as it adds a lot of depth while utilizing a minimum of resources. Storywise, I think that "gimmick" could prove interesting. And the Triforce was notably absent in the 2017 installment, leaving some room to explore that aspect of things.
... unless, of course, they try to reprise the region-by-region locks from Twilight Princess. Much as I appreciate that entry, reusing this restrictive idea would be a mistake.
Since BOTW2 is made on the same engine and takes place in the same world, in which they can reuse pretty much all existing assets, NPCs and monsters. This makes the production time a hell lot shorter.
Remember that BOTW released over 3 years ago, so they had 3 years to work on BOTW2 basically. More than enough time for a sequel.
So releasing this year before Christmas sounds feasible.
@COVIDberry
If it's really the same exact world, how could there be suddenly anything new, like dungeons or something?
No, I still say BotW 2 plays a few 100 years before or after the first game or in some kind of parallel world.
@MrBlacky Exact same, no. But I seem to remember finding several ruins that ALMOST looked like they had accessible entrances... in the jungles, Faron Woods, the mountains overlooking Gerudo Desert, abandoned fairy fountains...
I think a LTTP parallel world would be extremely fun.
I genuinely believe that BotW2 can release at any point now.
We mustn't underestimate the impact of Covid on Nintendo's plans, but remember that impact is across everything from the development to how they market and release the game.
Yes, we haven't had information for a long time, but we had zero information for Paper Mario.. that's now come and gone. Pikmin 3 was technically entirely out of the blue too. As will Mario 3D World.
When did this game go into development, early 2018? I just don’t see a big Zelda game like this Being ready that soon, even with reused assets.
Zelda breath of the wild 1 wasn't really all that great anyways, and he didnt even wear his green iconic clouthes either, zelda ocarina of time is the best zelda game ever ! And I seriously doubt they are going to call it breath of the wild 2, every zelda game always has a different unique name, breath of the wild 2 is just a placeholder name and not the actual name now wheres my 5 million likes
This is interesting, but it makes sense as something that will happen anyway. I'm personally betting that they're planning to release it on the same date as they did the original Breath of the Wild, on March 7th.
@munstahunta I’d be drop dead surprised if it’s this November. There’s been hardly any marketing for it.
@Crockin realistically after botw launched.
My guess a part of the team continued on the DLC and the rest moved on.
Remember papier mario it came out of nowhere so why not zelda
@sanderev
Never said it couldn't be done, but there seems to be a large number of Zelda players neglecting ANY OTHER Zelda material. That's why Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, the Link's Awakening remake and Cadence of Hyrule didn't do as well as Breath of the Wild.
You KNOW it is! I can't wait for the first Zelda game ever on Switch!! Yes, yes, the BOTW original was on it, but that's a port of a Wii U game, only done because Wii U failed, and they had to quickly move over development, so this will be Switch's first ever Zelda game!! WOO-HOO!!!
@hotgamer77
Correction: The Switch's first ever Zelda game that isn't a port or remake. In technical terms, the first Zelda game "created" on the Switch would be the Link's Awakening remake.
Wow, that’s cheaper than I expected. Hope it’s real!!
@Grandiajet Don’t give me hope.
@Dragonslacker1 I’d expect at least late 2021 or early 2022 for BOTW 2.
Edit: I’m proud that I (sorta) predicted the release date.
@Mr_Persona
Nope, its very real! I've checked 5 different websites and they all say the same thing!! YAHOOOOO!!!
