I keep coming across the term 'New Super Mario Bros fatigue' in the forums - if that's true, what's the term we're using to describe Call of Duty? ..that franchise is so, so far beyond the NSMB end of the 'fatigue' spectrum!

The one bundled with the console isn't as conveniently portable as it could be - and a Mini/Travel option would be just perfect for gaming on the go...make it happen Nintendo! Being able to play Anywhere, Any time, with Anyone, on Any TV would be a dream come true!

@Akropolon If Nintendo really wanted to make a hard distinction between the two, they would've abandoned the 'DS' brand altogether. They kept the same form factor and the familiar 'DS' moniker for continuity...because they wanted us to see it as a direct evolution of the same concept. The 3DS was a continuation...it was familiar.

I have the same surname as my cousin - we're from different families, but at the same time we're in the same family.

In branding, in marketing, in concept, in form...the DS and 3DS are cousins. They're related.

They're distinct, yes - and the 3DS has grown up and had a family of its own...but the DS and 3DS are still family.

@noobish_hat DS = 'Dual Screens' ..even if you don't consider the 3DS to be the big brother of the original DS, it's hard to argue that they're not at least cousins #Familia

Didn't Crytek decide that they couldn't sell TimeSplitters because it 'lacked a central protagonist' or something absurd like that? ..their marketing geniuses must be particularly perplexed by Overwatch's success! **face palm!** ..it's an absolute travesty that we never got TS4 - best FPS franchise since PD (by a long, long way!)

@BumpkinRich Not exactly - I guess I meant a 'remake' rather than a 'remaster' ..I'd much rather play the XBLA version of Perfect Dark than Perfect Dark Zero though! ..I think that the original game would need more than just a spit and polish to bring it properly up to modern standards - but they could do (and have done) a lot worse than just take the core of what made that game great and rebuild it using modern tools!

Even after all these years, Perfect Dark is still the best multiplayer shooter that I've ever played - with the best and most memorable FPS campaign I've ever played - and the best and most original weapons in any shooter I've ever played (I could go on!) ..it's just perfection!

..but, in a way, it's kind of a sad state of affairs that I still don't consider that anything has surpassed it (what's it been, 17 years?!) ..considering what a disaster Zero was though, I'd take a faithful remake over a prequel/sequel every day of the week!

I'm ashamed to admit that I never even knew that that store existed (despite living most of my life just around the corner from it!) but I'm definitely keen to check it out! ..my local independent games retailer (fortunately) has a reasonably healthy stock of retro games - but the idea of a whole loft dedicated to old school gaming sounds like too good an opportunity to miss!

@ThanosReXXX Yeah, that's what I mean - people clicked on the link to this article expecting to see the 'rumour busted' and 'confirmed to be fake' ..originally, the article had no source - it's since been edited to include a source; but no name-check, no credit, no testimony, no reason to believe it - you actually have to scroll all the way down to your comments (or click the belatedly added, partially hidden link to the source material) just to find out who this guy is and why his word has merit.

I really like this website - but some of the writing leaves a lot to be desired at times.

...but, yeah, I'm with you - it wouldn't surprise me if many/all of the features 'shown off' in that so-called 'leak' come to the Switch over time (they're all pretty 'safe') - but I think that the video most likely isn't legit (some top level fakery though, I might add!)

@ThanosReXXX It was more a comment on how poorly written the above article is than anything else. You have to scroll all the way down to your posts in the comments section before you actually start to make sense of who this guy is and why he should be believed! ..and even then you could argue that nothing has strictly been confirmed (by definition, I mean)

@ThanosReXXX Similarly though, some stuff recently got leaked regarding the Pokemon Switch RPG - they apparently come from a source who is usually pretty reliable as well, but people still stop short of saying that the leaked features are 'confirmed'.

You even said it yourself that "he is not the be all and end all of video game industry knowledge" - so as much as I'll concede that (based on your testimony) his word adds weight to the 'fake' argument, it still isn't what I'd consider to be 'confirmation'.

I just have a problem with the wording. It hasn't been 'confirmed' to be fake - it's likely fake...there's a difference. Nothing can be confirmed without confirmation.

Even the forum used as a source has it (appropriately) labelled as 'probably fake'.

Playing fast and loose with the word 'confirmed' there...both of the reasons given as 'proof' (that it isn't real) could be explained away by the fact that the firmware is in beta, or that the Switch being used is a development model.

Don't get me wrong, I'm leaning towards it being a fake - but speculation isn't confirmation.

The full question that Pearl asks in Off The Hook is 'What kind of Movies and TV Shows do you like more?' ..if it was restricted to just movies, I'd have gone for action - but I do like a good comedy TV show, so I went for that instead

...that list is utter garbage of the highest order!

@MacaqueAttack Give me a break! Super Mario Bros 3 is, was and always has been a better game than Bloodborne (the so-called '5th greatest game of all time') ..that just smacks of a list compiled by millennials, for millennials!

Don't get me wrong, it can't be easy to compile a 'top 100' list - but it's kind of laughable how many timeless classics are notable only by their absence... (I'd go as far as to say that that is the worst such list that I've ever seen compiled)

They lost the minimal respect I had for them when they published their '100 greatest games of all time' list and it didn't feature a single Super Mario Bros title - in fact, they barely made room for any 'retro' titles whatsoever! **grumble grumble grumble** ..if their minimum requirement for what qualifies as a 'great game' is that it (seemingly) has to have had 'HD' visuals, it's difficult to take them seriously in all honesty!
