Re: Review: L.A. Noire (Switch)

NaviAndMii

Scoring it just a 7 seems harsh to me (especially compared to other scores handed out on this site) ..still, better than GameSpot's review at least: they claimed that the game isn't even the remastered version and that the developers actually had to dial down the PS3/360 version to port it to the Switch!

**face palm!**

(n.b. worry not, it most definitely is the remastered version!)

If you like R*'s open world games, you'll like this - if you really like R*'s open world games, you'll no doubt love the unique take on the tried and trusted formula that this game manages to deliver! ..don't hesitate to buy it if you're still on the fence - you won't be disappointed!

Re: Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)

NaviAndMii

@UmbreonsPapa Definitely true - Skyrim's 9/10 seems fair...it's the person who reviewed US/UM who's maybe gone a little O.T.T. if you ask me!

US/UM every bit as good as Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey - and better than Skyrim..? - I think not!

Re: Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)

NaviAndMii

@JubilifeRival If US/UM really are that good - I'll look forward to the hundreds of hours of immersive gameplay ..and the highly regarded DLC expansions ..and the HD remasters ..and the VR editions ..and the - you get my point - Skyrim is clearly the better game & that should be reflected in the score!

Off topic:

@Octane (or any other moderator etc) I seem to be having trouble posting in the forums - every time I go to the forum section, I get logged out - I've tried deleting my cookies etc, but still no luck I haven't been banned or anything have I? I don't recall doing anything wrong (and, if I did, I very much apologise!) ..can't seem to figure out what's going on - so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind, just tested on my phone and I seem to be able to post OK - must be a browser issue :/

EDIT 2: Solved!

Re: Rocket League Blasts Onto the Nintendo Switch on 14th November

NaviAndMii

@garydbz25 It would (analog triggers allow for greater precision) ..but it all depends on whether the devs have specifically coded Gamecube controller/analog trigger support in to the game - and, seeing as though Reggie basically said that GC controller support was something of a 'happy accident', I have my doubts that GC-specific support will have been coded in to the game unfortunately ..hope they patch it in though, that'd be awesome!

@IceClimbers Yeah, I was a bit of a late-comer to PS4 - so missed the free RL download unfortunately (still got 60% off though, so not all bad!) - I just can't help feeling like I'd get so much more out of it if I had it on my Switch - if only I could transfer my save/DLC purchases! ..still very, very tempted though - I so love RL that much!

Re: Chess Ultra Arrives on the Switch eShop, With Cross-Platform Play, This Week

NaviAndMii

@JaxonH That's interesting - wasn't aware of those tests (maybe it's not as critical as I'd first assumed) ..I just notice that my Switch kicks out a fair bit of heat when I play (even handheld/tabletop) and I wouldn't want to stop that heat from escaping if I could help it

@SanderEvers That'd definitely work - like I say, I do like the 'cross-table' concept (especially for a board game like Chess) - I just never think that it's a good idea to block vents that must have been built in to the hardware for a reason!

Re: Chess Ultra Arrives on the Switch eShop, With Cross-Platform Play, This Week

NaviAndMii

"Unique to the Switch will be 'cross-table' chess, in which you can lay the Switch down flat when undocked."

They do realise that the cooling vents are located on the back of the Switch, right? ..sounds like an overheating issue waiting to happen if you ask me!

...it's a nice idea - but unless there was some kind of accessory (eg. mini 'table legs' that you could slide in to the Joy-Con rails to aid ventilation when flat) that would alleviate that potential issue, I wouldn't recommend playing any game that way at all! :/

Re: Review: FIFA 18 (Switch)

NaviAndMii

Nice piece @scully1888

Obviously, ideally we'd have liked a straight 1:1 port of the PS4/X1 versions but, for those like myself who haven't owned a FIFA game in a good many years, we won't miss the features that we never had I guess...

This is portable FIFA with all of the major boxes ticked - and that's probably good enough for me...for now.

Hopefully EA can tinker with the Frostbite engine to allow for Switch optimisation going forward - surely better for all concerned (if possible) - but dedicating an entire studio, EA Romania, to the development of one version of the game is nothing to be sniffed at (and not a decision that would've been taken out of anything other than necessity, I'm sure) and if it runs well, plays well and has most bases covered - that's what's important...plus, IT'S PORTABLE BABY - which is a 'triple plus' whichever way you look at it!

Re: Video: Here's What NBA 2K18 Looks Like on the Switch

NaviAndMii

Never watched the NBA, you say? Well, how do you know that that's not just what they look like..?!

I hear that, if you meet Steph Curry in real life, he looks more low-res than you'd expect...same with LeBron James, who apparently suffers from a rare 'anti-aliasing' deficiency (which he takes vitamins for) ..Dwight Howard looks like a 2D sprite (unless viewed in stereoscopic 3D) - and you actually need special glasses to be able to see Dwayne Wade!

Yeah, by the looks of things, this is actually more realistic than on other consoles! [/lie]
