@WiiHawk Fan-service plays a big part in crossover games. If I own Hyrule Warriors, why would I buy FE Warriors? The game-play between the two doesn't differ drastically, so the main thing that'd draw me in is the roster; which doesn't appeal to me as fan who first got into the series with Path of Radiance and the GBA games. That's my mentality anyways.
@nacho_chicken Oh, thanks for clearing that up. I only recently got into Hunter x Hunter, so I'm not really in the loop with the fanbase's inside jokes. Sorry I didn't catch on to that, @NIN10DOXD
@NIN10DOXD How so? Yoshihiro Togashi doesn't do any work for Dragon Quest, or video games in general as far as I'm aware. Are you confusing him for Akira Toriyama? He's the one who does the character designs for the series.
I figure this definitely won't be a game that won't be for me. Just a little bite-sized experience, to give people a small taste of what FE has to offer. I'm not interested as of yet, but I don't think this means the series is "ruined." But I am worried about the future of the series. It's great that the series is more accessible with features like Casual mode, but I can't say I'm a fan of some aspects of Fates and Awakening.
Localisation changes like this don't bother me. I don't know all the details around the Soleil controversy, but at this point whether it's true or someone misconstrued it, changing it was probably for the best. The only localisation changes that really irk me are the name changes. I mean really? What was the point in changing the name Harold to Arthur? Or shortening Suzukaze to Kaze? It's just... Ugh.
I was excited initially, but the lack of stock for the Special Edition has kind of killed my hype for it. Not very happy with being forced to get a standard edition and download the other routes, especially considering the lack of a proper account system on Nintendo hardware... Not to mention there are some aspects of the game that reminds me a bit too much of Awakening, art-style and graphics aside. Still, I'll end up picking up the game one way or another.
I've got my copy preordered, though I'm with some of the fellows above who'd have been much more excited for a Tellius art book. Alaz, maybe one day... Still it's nice that we're getting anything at all, especially considering Nintendo of America didn't even acknowledge Fire Emblem's 25th anniversary.
I'm really happy to finally hear that it's coming out of Japan, especially since I really enjoyed Millennium Girl but I think I'm going to wait for a price drop. My stinginess outweighs my desire to play a new EO game. That and there's going to be plenty of other great games to play in the meantime anyways.
@Turbo857 Personally I think "Fire Emblem" was the best GBA FE game, and the best handheld entry too. But Scared Stones is still definitely one of my favorites in the series. I do have to agree with you on Path of Radiance, it's still my favorite Fire Emblem. Can't count how many times I've replayed that gem.
The more I see the "Sorry! Site Maintenance" screen, the happier I am that Club Nintendo is being replaced. This is ridiculous. @JubilifeRival You'll find your code under your To Do list on Club Nintendo.
Sweet, now I can finally complete my collection of localized Fire Emblem games! I just wish I could download it on my 3DS instead, it was a handheld game after all. Maybe one day...
I don't think the price of the Wii U is the problem, it's still cheaper than the XBone and PS4 and also has a larger game library. But it's hard to say either way. I don't think they'll do horribly this year, considering Smash Bros is coming out, but I'm not expecting the Wii U to blow the competition out of the water.
I don't get why people are acting as if this fan-game is the end of the world. Is it really such a horrible thing that everyone is personally offended by it's existence? I mean, Megaman fan games are made all the time and no one seems to be offended in the least, and sometimes even encourage it. But one Mother fan game comes out, everyone gets their pitchforks ready. Yeah, I admit it's bold, naming the game Mother 4. But still, the team put their hearts and souls into this game, for no pay whatsoever and with their free time, trying to make something that their fellow Mother fans can enjoy. And I really can't see how this game could damage the image of Mother, or cut profits from Nintendo, considering it was put to rest in 2006... Just don't knock it until you try it.
Meta Knight's lack of changes in his move-set is somewhat concerning, especially with the mach-tornado. But so long as he's not entirely broken like he was in Brawl...
@Jahir he still has six jumps if that's what you're referring to, but he can't glide anymore.
I actually decided to give Millennium Girl a try recently and it's easily my favorite RPG on the 3DS right now. Makes me wish I got into the series sooner. So I'm happy to see another one coming out, even if it is another remake.
I really do hope Nintendo will consider another Hotel Dusk sequel, that game was amazing, a masterpiece even. I just wished the sequel could have been released in America...I'll cross my fingers for a worldwide release of Last Window when DS VC comes out.
I was kind of hoping for a multi-game direct, considering all we've gotten for the past few ones are game specific directs. Ah well, still nice to see more information about this game, despite how much they've already given, I still can't make up my mind on whether I'll be getting this or not.
It's so hard to choose just one character, they're all great in their own way...Though as far as newcomers go, Robin and Mega Man are the ones I'm most eager to play as.
As for challengers overall, Luigi, Ike, Toon Link, Sonic and Olimar are big favorites of mine...Again, it's just so hard to choose just one! Heck, the entire Smash Bros roster so far is shaping up to be the best in the series.
Sweet, now we know Lost Age is coming sometime soon (hopefully.) Perfect time to download Golden Sun and keep myself busy until it comes out in the west. Like a few of the other commentators here, I'm really hoping that a playable Isaac is in the cards. The series deserves proper representation, along with another sequel.
It's a bummer for anyone who bought all of these games already, they're essentially being duped out of a proper reward. But for me, considering this is my Club Nintendo year, I'm pretty satisfied. The lack of a game ost is disappointing, but I was going to buy EarthBound soon so it being a Club Nintendo reward is perfect timing! I hope next year will have a bit more variety to it though.
The original Wind Waker for me, it's graphics still hold up incredibly well and it was the game to introduce me into the series, so I suppose nostalgia also has something to do with it...That and I didn't like using the Gamepad too much in the HD remake. Hopefully the Gamecube adapter will fix that problem for me. I'm actually a little surprised how many people are voting for WW, a few years ago it was rare to find anyone that would consider it their favorite Zelda game...
This is weird, they've never done anything this big for just a new playable character. I don't want it to be another 3rd Party character though, I think they have those covered pretty well right now and are all Smash needs. I want to guess Ridley, considering he's been requested for a long time...But I really want it to be Isaac from Golden Sun...
I've been having an RPG itch I've been unable to scratch lately, so even a teaser of a new RPG is welcome. I've also been meaning to try Etrian Odyssey since everyone praises the games so highly, so I may as well kill two birds with one stone!
Agitha's such a random character choice...I love it. Characters that come from left-field usually end up being the most interesting and fun to play as... Just hope they'll be sure to give other entries in the series an equal amount of love as they've been showing TP so far. I'm still hoping that Ralph and Ravio will end up being playable down the line.
Didn't get to go because there really aren't any Best Buy's nearby where I live and I'm not quite dedicated to go on long drives to wait in a long line to play a demo. Hope everyone that went had fun though! Hearing about everyone's impressions so far makes me even more eager to play it...
I don't know about upgrading to a PS4, but I have been thinking about getting a PS3 if I could find one at a reasonable price. That way I could play both PS2 and PS3 games I've wanted to give a try and finally see what all the hullabaloo is about Kingdom Hearts.
Well...I'll refrain from condemning it right away but I'm also not going to have very high expectations. The track-record for good video-game based movies isn't in their favor. But hey, it could be good, probably won't top Sonic OVA, because that movie was amazing.(Being genuinely serious here.) So long as Sega keeps up the good track record of games they've had going since Colors. No clue why everyone keeps saying all the recent Sonic games are bad.
It was a tough call, but I voted for Smash, the Palutena reveal and what I saw in the invitational was really awesome. Zelda would've won for me hands down if the trailer were over a minute long. But I'm seriously looking forward to exploring an open-world Zelda...Just the thought fills me with joy... I guess I was one of the few people who didn't really think much of Splatoon though. But still, It's nice that they're treading new grounds, I'll keep an eye on it. Also, Bayonetta coming with Bayonetta 2 sold me on the game, didn't see that coming.
@HappyMaskedGuy I'm hoping for some Metroid too, as I've been meaning to give the series a try for a while now, though considering past years I'll be keeping my expectations in check. I can't say I'd put money on either of your other two predictions though, an HD Twilight Princess and Melee would kind of distract from Zelda U and the new Smash. Which is obviously something Nintendo wouldn't want to do right now.
Like everyone above, I wish that there were actually good, thoughtful comments posted on Miiverse rather than fart jokes and other nonsense. Now all I use Miiverse for is to check Sakurai's daily Smash posts and to look at a few good drawings.
@SavoirFaire
On the title screen, press A with the Wii-mote and you should be able to play with your preferred control option. Though I'm not even sure if Wii-mote + Nunchuck is supported this time around or not actually...
Mario Kart 8 has so far been really amazing, it's the best Mario Kart I've played since Double Dash. I love every single new course, which is rare, since I usually have one or two courses I'm not so fond of. Even the retro courses feel brand new! Though it isn't exactly perfect, the roster selection feels really lacking in comparison to past MKs (Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach feel like rather lazy additions to be honest.) and it's way too easy to unlock characters. I'm only one Koopaling short of unlocking the entire roster. Despite it's short-comings, Mario Kart 8 is really fantastic! I'll definitely be racing online a lot this summer!
I'm usually vehemently against adding more characters, considering how many critters are running around in Sonic's world already, but I'd be willing to to keep an open mind with this one. Personally she looks to much like Marine, but from the little voice samples they gave us, it sounds like she'll actually be something a bit more unique than Sonic's other friends. And I may be in the minority, but I don't hate the voice either. Granted, it's a little cringe-worthy, but it does fit the character. I just hope they won't make her spout random nonsense every other sentence, just as I hope they don't keep Knuckles in that stereo-typical "strong but dumb" character mold that Sega's been doing the last few years.
It's gotta be Ike for me this week, hard to beat one of your favorite characters making the cut. Though the colored outlines for teams is a close second, I've always hated being forced into an ugly color palette for certain characters to play teams. Though it makes me wonder if they'll be doing anything similar for the Wii U version or not.
You know, this is the first time I've freaked out over a Smash Bros veteran returning. I'm just so happy right now! I was beginning to think Chrom would have taken his place, thank goodness I was wrong! As for the people who were hoping for Chrom, I wouldn't count him out just yet. Who's to say Fire Emblem will always be limited to two slots in Smash, especially with it's rising popularity?
I'm glad to see that they're thinking beyond recolors this time around, alternate skins have always felt like such a missed opportunity in the Smash Bros. series.
Personally I haven't used the Gamepad much for off-screen play, which seems to be the biggest reasons why people love it so much. But in all honesty I haven't ever once thought, "Wow, only this could have been done with the Gamepad." when playing a game. So far outside from what I've heard of Nintendo Land and ZombiU, no game has really used the Gamepad creatively. It kind of makes me think Nintendo just thought that combing their two successes from last gen would be a money printer but really didn't think of ideas they could pull off with it in games. Don't get me wrong, I like my Wii U and all, but the Gamepad just feels like a missed opportunity so far. Hopefully Nintendo will put some more Gamepad focus in their games this E3.
This game looks really great! I've always had a soft spot for games that still use pixel-art, I've always found something charming about them appearance wise. This is definitely on my radar.
Can't say I'll use Pink Gold Peach, but I'll probably switch between Baby Rosalina and Baby Luigi when I feel like using the light-weight class. But I do think that the roster has some wasted potential, Toadsworth, Professor Egadd, Dixie and Cranky Kong would pretty cool in my book.
Considering the Wii U is only just now getting some games(albeit, slowly.) it'd be a bad move to announce a successor, especially since it's only a little over two years old. Not to mention it'd sure be a big kick in the pants to the people who actually supported the console.
It's about time we got a good deal like this! It's so rare for Nintendo to do good promotions like these. I just wish NoA would offer a bigger selection like Europe, the only game out of the ones offered is Wii Party U, which isn't really my cup of tea to be honest. Ah well, free is free!
@AshFoxX I'd definitely recommend giving Pikmin 3 a try, it's the best game out on Wii U at the moment in my opinion.
After playing over 60 hours into Bravely Default , I have to say it's one of the best RPGs I've played in a while. So I'm definitely looking forward to Bravely Second. I just really hope they don't make the game as repetitive as the second half of BD is.
I can't say I was fond of the mid-riff, but I actually liked the pony-tail, it made him a little bit more recognizable in a sea of blonde-spiky haired heroes. But I don't really see why a design modification was necessary, there really wasn't anything wrong with it.
The release target better be a few years from now, Mario really needs to be shelved for a while. I loved 3D World, but they're really milking the series now. It'd be nice to see some of the more neglected IPs see some new titles, like Metroid or F-Zero. (Both of which I sadly never had the opportunity to try.) Or even better yet, something completely new.
@Funny_Moblin Haha, well no, I would also like to actually use the character, not just stare at them. If that were the case I'd take your suggestion and plaster a image of Lucas in all his glory on my ceiling.(Heck the idea is actually pretty tempting...) But yeah, sorry that we don't see eye to eye on which characters are noteworthy enough to make an appearance in Smash. Just my opinion is all. I'll enjoy the game regardless of who or who doesn't make an appearance and I hope you will too.
@Funny_Moblin Well yes, yes I do my good sir. Lucas wasn't the worst offender in terms of clone characters. But yeah, I agree that his move-set could have been something more unique. I just want to see him, and Ike return because I love the characters and the games they originated from. I hope that isn't too unreasonable.
I'm really excited to see what they reveal this direct, I mean there has to be at least one noteworthy announcement if it's completely devoted to Smash Bros. Or well, I hope so anyways. I don't really need a release date. I'd prefer if they didn't announce a date prematurely and then rush it to make their deadline only for it to be an unenjoyable game. All I really want is some more game-play details like a new game mode, and a newcomer reveal. It might be wishful thinking asking to see Lucas and Ike confirmed for a return, but I will definitely be crossing my fingers...

Re: Heart Forth, Alicia Successfully Hits Wii U Kickstarter Target
This game looks really great! I've always had a soft spot for games that still use pixel-art, I've always found something charming about them appearance wise. This is definitely on my radar.
Re: Mario Kart Month: Mario Kart 8 Character Profiles: Koopalings Galore
Can't say I'll use Pink Gold Peach, but I'll probably switch between Baby Rosalina and Baby Luigi when I feel like using the light-weight class. But I do think that the roster has some wasted potential, Toadsworth, Professor Egadd, Dixie and Cranky Kong would pretty cool in my book.
Re: Nintendo Quashes Rumours Of New Hardware At E3 2014
Considering the Wii U is only just now getting some games(albeit, slowly.) it'd be a bad move to announce a successor, especially since it's only a little over two years old. Not to mention it'd sure be a big kick in the pants to the people who actually supported the console.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Club Nintendo Promotion Offers a Free Wii U Game
It's about time we got a good deal like this! It's so rare for Nintendo to do good promotions like these. I just wish NoA would offer a bigger selection like Europe, the only game out of the ones offered is Wii Party U, which isn't really my cup of tea to be honest. Ah well, free is free!
@AshFoxX I'd definitely recommend giving Pikmin 3 a try, it's the best game out on Wii U at the moment in my opinion.
Re: Bravely Default Producer Says to Expect Info on Sequel this Summer
After playing over 60 hours into Bravely Default , I have to say it's one of the best RPGs I've played in a while. So I'm definitely looking forward to Bravely Second.
I just really hope they don't make the game as repetitive as the second half of BD is.
Re: Subtle Character Design Changes Spotted for North American Version of Azure Striker Gunvolt
I can't say I was fond of the mid-riff, but I actually liked the pony-tail, it made him a little bit more recognizable in a sea of blonde-spiky haired heroes. But I don't really see why a design modification was necessary, there really wasn't anything wrong with it.
Re: Nintendo Is Working On The Next Mario Game, But Can't Reveal If It's Coming To 3DS Or Wii U
Re: Talking Point: The Timing of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct Raises Expectations
@Funny_Moblin Haha, well no, I would also like to actually use the character, not just stare at them. If that were the case I'd take your suggestion and plaster a image of Lucas in all his glory on my ceiling.(Heck the idea is actually pretty tempting...)
But yeah, sorry that we don't see eye to eye on which characters are noteworthy enough to make an appearance in Smash. Just my opinion is all. I'll enjoy the game regardless of who or who doesn't make an appearance and I hope you will too.
Re: Talking Point: The Timing of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct Raises Expectations
Re: Talking Point: The Timing of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct Raises Expectations
Re: Nintendo Download: 27th March (North America)
Just the Zelda Zone DLC for me. Free is the best price.
