E3 creeps ever closer, which should mean more information on Super Smash Bros. isn't far away. The past week was actually fairly eventful for the titles, however, with loose comments from Nintendo's French division suggesting that the Wii U version will utilise the NFC Figurine Platform, with Nintendo's official response to the reports being to — figuratively — wink and saunter off while whistling a jaunty tune. Oh, and Ike was announced as a new Challenger, too, making his second appearance after a début in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Beyond that excitement Masahiro Sakurai has been doing his thing on the Director's Room Miiverse community , throwing in extra images and even — gasp — a 3DS screen.

Here's another example: in the previous games, you saw the back of Kirby's head when facing left. Now Kirby looks great from any angle.

For this game, Ike's design is based on the hero that appears in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. His sword deals heavy damage in Smash Bros., so this design suits him very well! Rest assured, he can use Aether as well.
