Not a huge thing but this is definitely an area that Xbox got right. Everything "just works" and you can pick up and play your games regardless of which device you turn on.

I think there's something to that. Mario Kart isn't necessarily a system seller but rather is one of those games where once you've invested in the console, that's a surefire purchase.

We don't know that Mario Kart will be the tentpole launch title anyway. There's a good chance they have something else up their sleeve that they weren't going to give away in the teaser a few months ago. Mario Kart may very well be the holiday release.

Gotta ask. Why do some outlets say "review code?" Don't you mean "A review code" or "review codes?" You're not actually getting programming code that you're analyzing or reviewing, they're just sending you a download code so you can play the game. Always found this odd.

How does this not just happen automatically, especially when they're attached? PS5 at least guess you a pop up the minute you connect an out of date controller.

Regarding the "we" thing. That is a very common style choice used to avoid use of the first person. Lots of people here criticising the writing that don't seem to understand this.

@Pavy_1983 @Clammy This is good advice. Save your bombs for that sequence. Watching a YouTube video was very helpful to me. As previously stated, no shame in that, you still have to execute it.

I would've said 5.99 USD. An extra dollar isn't even worth the effort for Nintendo but going up to 9.99 is way too big a hike for what they're offering.

I don't get the binary thinking with this thing, like it's an either-or thing. The Switch is amazing for all of the reasons we already know. I'll be getting a Steam Deck too because I've never wanted to invest the money or physical space necessary for a gaming PC but this eliminates both of those barriers. Just like with every other iteration of the console wars, there's room for both here.

One day this year I will finish Dragon Quest XI. I'll also squeeze in some Pacman 99.

I'm fine with All Stars being a limited release but I can't agree with Mario 35 being taken away. It's such a fun game.

I've resolved to buy no games in 2021 and just work through what I've bought in the last couple of years. The only exception I would consider is if BOTW 2 comes out this year.

Imagine if the level was actually just unbeatable.

My kids would love to play Mario Kart with something like this. We have the little "floating" wheel shells but they're just as happy holding a pro controller as the steering wheel. Something like this might be a little more fun and the price is right.

All of this said, Celeste is a game that absolutely nailed the balance of difficulty and accessibility. The challenge was crucial to the storytelling but the assist modes gave the player just the bump they needed to get through an especially tough spot and not have to give up on the game.

This is a very adult take that I can identify with.

When taking into account review scores on this site, I usually deduct a full point and that's closer to where it probably actually should be.

That aside, I played Mario and Zelda on the Classic recently so I tried out Brawl Brothers. It's good enough for what it is but that sewer level is a little obtuse.

If you own a Switch and buy yourself a Switch lite, you are part of the problem.

Used this to get Mario Maker and will use the second on Link's Awakening if the reviews are good. I agree with those that say it's only a good deal if you're looking to make at least two day one purchases this year.

I'd argue Tetris 99 plays better with a standard joy-con than with a d-pad since you don't need diagonals

Not gonna lie, I'm not a fan of these glorified catalogues disguised as editorials. How is this the "best" anything? You literally listed every available option with a link to purchase.

Just to show how off the radar Nintendo was to many people at the time, I didn't know Switch was a thing until after it was released. Got mine the following Christmas and it was a very worthwhile purchase.

Most people miss the point whenever this comes up. Gaming addiction can be a very serious problem and Nintendo should be applauded for getting in front of it and giving people tools to help curb it. If you don't suffer, that's fantastic, but you're friend or neighbor might be. No one wants to stand in the way of your hobby or shame you for enjoying it. The people who are in too deep need to be supported.

Came here for defensive comments from boys and I was not disappointed.

I think this speaks to the addictive nature of video games. There's a thrill of the purchase that is enough to satisfy an urge. It's not unlike people who have a closet full of clothes with the tags still on.
