To celebrate the last decade, Nintendo of America has released a colourful infographic on Twitter, highlighting all of the games and systems it has released.
In terms of consoles, we started out with the previous generation of hardware. This included the release of the 3DS in 2011 and the Wii U in 2012. Further down the track the NES and SNES Classic Mini systems were released and this followed with the launch of the Switch in 2017.
As for software, there’s been games like Pikmin 3, Super Mario Maker, Nintendo Labo, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2. There’s also been some new accessories like the Poké Ball Plus and amiibo have been around since 2014.
Have you enjoyed the past decade of Nintendo gaming? Is there any other hardware or software you think should have been mentioned? Leave a comment below.

Definitely some good memories over the last decade... Even (dare I say) during the Wii U years!
That's a lame chart if that is all the only IPs they gave us for the last 10 years. No F-Zero, no Advance Wars, no 1080, no Wave Race, no Punch-Out!!, no Golden Sun, no Excite series, etc. I like the previous decade more. Also where's Daemon x Machina, Fatal Frame V: Maiden of Black Water, Bravely Default, Paper Mario: Color Splash, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Hyrule Warriors, and Ever Oasis?
That infographic is a mess... some intern slapped some logos together in a few mins before he had to get back to school for his next classes.
I know theres more titles than these... like how could you ignore the first Splatoon for starters?
The games caught my attention quickly :
1. ARMS
2. Tomodachi Life
3. Miitopia
4. LABO
5. Mario Kart 8
They remembered kid icarus uprising...THEY REMEMBERED KID ICARUS UPRISING!
Surprised Skyward Sword isn't on there
That infographic isn't really providing any info.
Gonna tell it like I've been telling every thing on my Switch homepage until the Direct is announced:
💔 Oh.
Why is it chronological all thrown into chaos? Its like a word search to find the year I'm looking for.
And apparently Splatoon isn't important enough. Not compared to Labo and Mario Kart Tour? Yeesh.
I like the infographic overall, but I was hoping everything would be sorted left/right or up/down.
@N1ntendodo they don’t want to invite comparison....
wierd they didn't put the new 2ds xl in the 3ds pics, especially since its basically the only one they sell now.
Then theres no Wonderful 101...
Is it just me or does anyone else think this is a sloppy infographic?
Epic Yarn instead of Planet Robobot!? Booo, Nintendo, boo.
Some weird stuff on here in general. Such as the cellphone games. Eh.
Also what about Ring Fit Adventure which is way cooler and useful than LABO?
@RandomNerds It's very sloppy.
It's missing
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Bayonetta 2
Splatoon
Mario Maker 2
Bring back Pikmin
Also, Yoshi got more games than some of those franchises but missing
@OorWullie Not just content, but layout... No offense to the designer who did it as I'm sure they were given specific instructions from their higher-ups, but an intern could have put this together. It's just so amateur, right down to the compression artifacts.
@N1ntendodo They're still selling Splatoon 2. Most of those titles are ones they're still making money on and want to promote.
It makes me happy they put Kid Icarus and Xenoblade.
I am glad NintendoLand got a shout out. I honestly really did enjoy that mini-game compilation.
It's been a roller coaster ride of a decade for Nintendo alright, but I'm glad the decade is closing on a very high note for them. I think that this Switch era is the strongest Nintendo has been since the SNES.
@RandomNerds : The compression artefacts are likely the fault of Go Nintendo from which this story was pinched.
PNG would be ideal for websites as it is a lossless format (and considerably more efficient in file size than BMP, similar to how LPCM and DTS audio on Blu-ray discs are both lossless formats, but the latter is more efficient as it compresses the data and decompresses it upon playback, allowing numerous audio tracks to be stored on the same disc without compromise, but also requires a licensing fee, whereas LPCM is free but considerably less storage efficient), but most websites seem to prefer JPG due to the bottom-of-the-barrel file sizes (and hence the compression artefacts that are idiosyncratic to the format).
@Silly_G The image was taken directly from Nintendo of America's Twitter account. I'll have a look later to see if I can get a higher quality version.
@Liam_Doolan : Fair enough. I didn't intend to sound like I was nagging, but just providing some context on compression artefacts generally and the fact that they are not necessarily inherent to the source material. I am personally not bothered by the quality of the infograph per se, but will note the quality of its design (or lack thereof) as others have rightfully pointed out.
I'm not sure how Twitter works, but I imagine that most uploads would be compressed for storage and to allow conformity with most web browsers/devices. I think most people would appreciate web images being only a few kilobytes in size for the purposes of mobile consumption as opposed to a few megabytes each.
Just by that mess of a list alone, what a terrible decade. Xenoblade, fire emblem awakening, and Zelda albw are the only ones that I'd classify as great games. But obviously this mess isn't including everything for whatever reason.
Well... I guess Galaxy 2 is technically a digital Wii U title.
What a weird infographic. Not sure a lot of work went into that.
@Silly_G All good, your first comment was definitely insightful. I'll also admit it's not much of an infographic in terms of the design, and only a few key dates are mentioned. I'm surprised they featured the second Splatoon over the first one as well.
I kind of miss the Wii U times, when there was only a good game released every two months or so.
The backlog was never too big and you even had time to catch up during the really slow patches.
Man, how did this website survive back then?
Things really picked up in 2017
Up until the WU released, technically the Wii was still Nintendo's current console. Also of note, is that Just Dance recently released for the Wii.
Poor Skyward Sword
@Judal27 LOL, we sure have different taste. While I agree that Xenoblade Chronicles, A Link Between Worlds and FE: Awakening are all great games, there are a lot of other excellent titles on that list:
So I wouldn't say it's a terrible decade. With the introduction of Switch I think it has been fantastic. The list is missing some titles though...
This looks like it was slapped together in 5 minutes...
"In terms of consoles, we started out with the previous generation of hardware. This included the release of the 3DS in 2011 and the Wii U in 2012".
This tiny article has wrong information. The 3DS is the first console of the current generation and Wii U is the first home console of the current generation. The next generation starts in late 2020 with Xbox Series and PS5.

@datamonkey @Friendly @RandomNerds Yeah and it looks like every recent Nintendo graphic.
Nintendo spotlighting Mario Kart Tour as a game of the decade while ignoring some Wii U gems.
lol at the Wii U in the bottom corner a symbolism of its failure
They couldn't even have ordered them chronologically, or on a timeline?
What a mess and to celebrate a decade with just a handful of titles seems very odd!
What is the point of this "infographic" let alone providing any coverage of it?
That's an awesome chart, there's a ton of great games and such there. But, I think they should have added Ring Fit Adventure or maybe it's too new.
Could have been a lot more extensive but they definitely hit a lot of the highlights. Glad to see Pokémon GO and Xenoblade Chronicles up there.
@Quarth Yeah I guess we do. Though I probably should have mentioned that I haven't played neither Galaxy 2 nor Samus returns, so I didn't include them. And if I had played them, I'd probably like them a lot considering I loved Galaxy 1 and I like Metroid in general.
Also I didn't realize that it was AC new leaf, for some reason my mind registered it as that amiibo party game, so yeah I'll be including that as well lol.
And I consider the rest, inferior sequels.
Fair enough. I think you should try Samus Returns, it's a great remake and far superior to the original on Game Boy.
Happy new year!
This looks a bit incomplete. Nice that they put Kid Icarus Uprising on there at least.
