@FishyS All of the SMM1 levels are preserved by team Pretendo, the challenge was precisely to actually complete the contents of the official server before the closure but the data from said server is being archived
@Rhaoulos Honestly for me it's very dependent on the dub and dub actors. Obviously I will always have a soft spot for Roger Carel & Jean-Claude Donda, but I do agree that the Canadian translations are closer generally to their English counterparts specifically (e.g. Rosalina VS Harmonie, Mike Wazowski VS Bob Razowski, the Pokémon dub using all of the English names in Quebec but not in Europe)
I will say though, the Canadian dub of The Simpsons is completely unintelligible to me ^^
I would like to point out that France is also getting a Steelbook as a pre-order bonus at Micromania and Fnac. The front depicts the usual 3D World cover while the back has the Bowser's Fury artwork. I will admit though, I do prefer the minimalistic look of the Korean steelbook, with the inside being the star of the show
In my opinion as a French native speaker, the French localization being somewhere between bad and god awful is... Kind of the norm for video games unfortunately
And then it gets worse when you add voice acting to the mix
See, I usually trust Brook (At least for their overexpensive, super limited controller adapters), but between how notorious 3rd Party Docks have been for bricking Switches and how notorious 3rd Party GameCube controller adapters (Outside of Mayflash's and Hitbox's) have been for literally eating GameCube controller plugs... That's going to be a hard no from me...
Additionally, I spot a clear lack if a back USB port for the almighty LAN Adapter, so that makes it even more difficult than with the original Switch Dock to actually have a shot at playing online
The key thing I want from a Switch Pro on top of being a Switch Pro is to keep the same Joy-Con railings and more or less the same form factor so I can still use my DxM HORI Joy-Con
At least until we get Pro Joy-Con with gyro. That's the thing we really want.
Remainder: TPCi doesn't want to support Switch Cloud Saves because they want you to buy their own Cloud Save system, called Pokémon Bank on 3DS and Pokémon Home on the Switch/Mobile
@Ladasta I think the jumping is fast rather than high. As in, Mario quickly reaches his peak, stays there for a couple dozen frames and then falls down faster than his Melee fastfall
@HalBailman I mean, it's your opinion and I respect it. I also think a F-Zero remake has more of a chance at ruining F-Zero X than F-Zero GX, especially if they go for all of the expansion content. (64DD isn't really the most known or optimized thing dev-wise) They might as well just do a new F-Zero with a track editor... Or work on a 64DD emulator, we kinda really need that.
'Cause, darn it, the 64DD isn't cheap these days...
No, honestly, they could just re-release F-Zero GX and I'd buy 3 copies. 5 if it had a working 30-player online multiplayer mode but... if Nintendo ain't going to have servers for Splatoon they're certainly not going to get some for F-Zero ^^
Not really worth it though. If you're just going for completion, just trade a Mew with someone, beat the Mew Master Trainer with that and then give him the Mew back.
@Supadav03 I mean, you could get away with just playing the game on another profile.
I'd almost want to mention that you can share digital games across Switches too now, if it weren't for the game not supporting cloud saving through the Switch Online service (Gotta blame Bank for that one)
@marandahir Isn't a refurbished Wii U 100 € or so nowadays? If so, Wii U can be plugged in via analog, and IIRC Netflix isn't shutting down on that just yet
And you can just keep the Wii's Sensor Bar and Wiimote to avoid having to deal with the gamepad, although I don't remember if you can display the keyboard on screen
That game got updated 3 times, and the Switch version still doesn't have the connection filter the other versions have. (On top of many other problems all versions have, including its base netcode)
I wouldn't trust Capcom at all with them updating the Switch version. Like, the Switch version of the SF 30th Anniversary Collection still doesn't have the search filter the other versions have, despite having been updated 3 times.
No matter how you cut it, a new game or paid DLC will split the online playerbase, which is bound see its numbers dip already as Online becomes paid.
However, I do see MK8D as THE Switch iteration of Mario Kart. Because, really, why would they even want to develop a new game when MK8D is already a massive, massive system seller. I don't see the investment VS ROI as being worth it at this point, especially when people are already conditioned to buy 1 Mario Kart game per system (Unlike Pokémon and Call of Duty)
Well, I knew of homebrew that had better piracy countermeasures than the official software (See how CTGP-Revolution does not work if you are not using a real Mario Kart Wii disc in a real Wii), but this is nuts on a whole other level.
@Jeronan Yes, except Nintendo is also coming from a period where games on their platform undersold, including 1st party games, which can explain the conservative production of cartridges. Add to that the reports of shortages in flash memory, and you get a situation where a 32 GB cartridge is just not viable financially.
Now, I have no doubt that the prices for these cartridges will go down as we move forward, but so will the prices for 16 GB and 8 GB cartridges. The harm is already done, and 3rd parties will continue this shady tactic going forward. Should Nintendo block that at some point, they lose the support, which really isn't what they need right now. In other words, this situation was inevitable. It sucks for everyone, but it was inevitable.
@Jeronan But at the same time, we've already seen time and time again that laser discs are just not a viable option for portable devices. Either way, Nintendo's hands were tied the moment they decided to go the handheld route.
@roadrunner343 Well, to that you have to factor in that local wireless can only support up to two Bluetooth peripherials per device, which is already a pain when playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 2 people per Switch.
In any ways, it's still ridiculous that you can't even PLUG IN a headset with microphone into the Switch and do voice chat that way. Like, come on, the DS could do it, and it did.
@roadrunner343 Except it's the same Broadcomm chip handling both the WiFi and Bluetooth communications. It's a good chip, but the power it can pull from the Switch is hard capped, inherently causing a lot of WiFi related issues. I'm not defending Nintendo on that one though, since now they have that issue on top of just not being able to write a competent netcode that would take into consideration the frequent packet losses such a weak WiFi can cause.
I'd imagine that pulling audio from the same chip would just make the WiFi signal that much worse due to the higher bandwidth used.
@NIN10DOXD Well you've got to remember that transferring between generations is also locked behind the Bank paywall, as well as providing for -you guessed it- backup capabilities. (That aren't even that reliable in the first place) And that won't go any better once Gen 8 is here and the Bank's on the Switch. But I agree with you, it's a ripoff.
People like us either know better or hacked their 3DS into oblivion anyways though, but the basic customer you never hear of? Yeah, he'll cough up 15 € a year to make sure his data's safe.
Also there's the fact that Pokémon Bank and the Nintendo Online service aren't even handled by the same entity, even though both are owned by Nintendo to an extent.
The Switch version literally has no chance of success, considering now players got a taste of Mario Tennis Aces. (And we know Classic mode will be an option in MTA)
