Re: Random: Hades In French Adds Lots Of Puns, And Makes Hypnos Extra-Sleazy

@Rhaoulos Honestly for me it's very dependent on the dub and dub actors. Obviously I will always have a soft spot for Roger Carel & Jean-Claude Donda, but I do agree that the Canadian translations are closer generally to their English counterparts specifically (e.g. Rosalina VS Harmonie, Mike Wazowski VS Bob Razowski, the Pokémon dub using all of the English names in Quebec but not in Europe)

I will say though, the Canadian dub of The Simpsons is completely unintelligible to me ^^

Re: This Nintendo Switch Dock Looks Just Like A Mini GameCube, Comes With Four Controller Ports

Mathias_Wolfbrok

See, I usually trust Brook (At least for their overexpensive, super limited controller adapters), but between how notorious 3rd Party Docks have been for bricking Switches and how notorious 3rd Party GameCube controller adapters (Outside of Mayflash's and Hitbox's) have been for literally eating GameCube controller plugs... That's going to be a hard no from me...

Additionally, I spot a clear lack if a back USB port for the almighty LAN Adapter, so that makes it even more difficult than with the original Switch Dock to actually have a shot at playing online

Re: Feature: 17 Remasters We'd Love To See On Switch In 2019

Mathias_Wolfbrok

@HalBailman I mean, it's your opinion and I respect it. I also think a F-Zero remake has more of a chance at ruining F-Zero X than F-Zero GX, especially if they go for all of the expansion content. (64DD isn't really the most known or optimized thing dev-wise) They might as well just do a new F-Zero with a track editor... Or work on a 64DD emulator, we kinda really need that.

'Cause, darn it, the 64DD isn't cheap these days...

Re: Nintendo Switch GameCube Adapter Delayed In The UK Until May 2019

Mathias_Wolfbrok

Guys, just buy the Mayflash adapter, I found that those are of much higher quality than the official GC Adapter.

They may even be cheaper. And they work natively on PC so that's a plus

And if you want to go wireless, (Which, I don't think you should...) we do have 8BitDo

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Keep Releasing DLC For Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

Mathias_Wolfbrok

No matter how you cut it, a new game or paid DLC will split the online playerbase, which is bound see its numbers dip already as Online becomes paid.

However, I do see MK8D as THE Switch iteration of Mario Kart. Because, really, why would they even want to develop a new game when MK8D is already a massive, massive system seller. I don't see the investment VS ROI as being worth it at this point, especially when people are already conditioned to buy 1 Mario Kart game per system (Unlike Pokémon and Call of Duty)

Re: Ubisoft Collaborating With Virtuos For The Switch Version Of Starlink: Battle For Atlas

Mathias_Wolfbrok

@Jeronan Yes, except Nintendo is also coming from a period where games on their platform undersold, including 1st party games, which can explain the conservative production of cartridges. Add to that the reports of shortages in flash memory, and you get a situation where a 32 GB cartridge is just not viable financially.

Now, I have no doubt that the prices for these cartridges will go down as we move forward, but so will the prices for 16 GB and 8 GB cartridges. The harm is already done, and 3rd parties will continue this shady tactic going forward. Should Nintendo block that at some point, they lose the support, which really isn't what they need right now. In other words, this situation was inevitable. It sucks for everyone, but it was inevitable.

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite Is Coming So Nintendo Really Needs To Sort Out Its Voice Chat Problem

Mathias_Wolfbrok

@roadrunner343 Well, to that you have to factor in that local wireless can only support up to two Bluetooth peripherials per device, which is already a pain when playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 2 people per Switch.

In any ways, it's still ridiculous that you can't even PLUG IN a headset with microphone into the Switch and do voice chat that way. Like, come on, the DS could do it, and it did.

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite Is Coming So Nintendo Really Needs To Sort Out Its Voice Chat Problem

Mathias_Wolfbrok

@roadrunner343 Except it's the same Broadcomm chip handling both the WiFi and Bluetooth communications. It's a good chip, but the power it can pull from the Switch is hard capped, inherently causing a lot of WiFi related issues. I'm not defending Nintendo on that one though, since now they have that issue on top of just not being able to write a competent netcode that would take into consideration the frequent packet losses such a weak WiFi can cause.

I'd imagine that pulling audio from the same chip would just make the WiFi signal that much worse due to the higher bandwidth used.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Need A Switch Online Sub For Core Gameplay Features

Mathias_Wolfbrok

@NIN10DOXD Well you've got to remember that transferring between generations is also locked behind the Bank paywall, as well as providing for -you guessed it- backup capabilities. (That aren't even that reliable in the first place) And that won't go any better once Gen 8 is here and the Bank's on the Switch. But I agree with you, it's a ripoff.

People like us either know better or hacked their 3DS into oblivion anyways though, but the basic customer you never hear of? Yeah, he'll cough up 15 € a year to make sure his data's safe.

Also there's the fact that Pokémon Bank and the Nintendo Online service aren't even handled by the same entity, even though both are owned by Nintendo to an extent.
