Re: Shuntaro Furukawa: Switch Successor Will Utilise The 'Nintendo Account' System

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for Nintendo’s next thing and I’ll probably be a day 1 adopter. I’ve been following rumors for what seems like years as they ebb and flow. This one seems most concrete as something new and exciting is nearing its big reveal. But I can’t help but feel this is the start of what Apple has done with their own ecosystem. A new device every two years or so for those who want the latest processor and screen. And for those who don’t, a planned obsolescence of maybe 4-6 years before the hardware becomes unusable with the newest software. It’s great and it’s not. Nintendo generations are such pillars of time. Yes there have been clues that this is the convergent point: Gameboy games supported on Gameboy Color, DS games on 3DS, Wii games on Wii U, etc. I suppose accepting a departure from this convention is critical for Nintendo’s continued success. I’m all for it. But my “iPhone” has been the same since the iPhone 3GS- it’s just changed vessels over the years: 5, 5s, SE, 13 mini. It beats the alternative where Nintendo leaves digital content isolated and abandoned on dead hardware. Not complaining as I have quite an extensive digital library. Just feels like a junction point to where Nintendo is overlapping with the industry more than ever before. Like “Blue Ocean” is a game we all bought in the eShop.

Mine was Wind Waker. I tried and tried to like this game when it came out and then a few times over the next two decades 😳 But then, this Fall, something just clicked and I fell in love with the game. I started a fresh quest and finished it just before Christmas. I took my time and immersed myself in that world. No online hints. No guide books. And some days it took a really long time to find the next plot point. Sailing around side-questing was also so much fun this time around.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

Metroid was my very first NES game when I got it for Christmas in 1987. I’d played (or rather watched) my friends who had it before me but once I got my own copy it was mine, all mine! I’ve been a Metroid fan since. (Although I haven’t played any of the Metroid Prime games)

I’m actually quite excited for the DLC. But I’ve known what to expect with this game from the start (thanks @kategray for your initial review.) And knowing it had issues on the Switch, I’ve been playing it on my iPhone through Apple Arcade. If nothing else, it’s different content from the same events in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp each month.
