Bah I don't get this true fan, false fan thing going around here.
I have been a bit displeased with some changes that have been made to the franchise but doesn't mean I hate the franchise now. Although people criticizing the game or the localization are not in the wrong, maybe a bit too overzealous in the criticism.
I'll probably buy this game after some time since I have a huge list of games to finish anyway. I don't feel like going through 3 routes to get the whole story yet haha.
I am late to this topic, but seriously, I am getting tired of Nintendo censoring everything they get their hands on. I am not interested in any of the DLC, but from the point of principle this is very annoying. If we let go of some censorship, they might increase it for their later games. Give them an inch, and they'll take a mile -_-
Not getting the game day one probably till I find that they did not change some story component as well.
Wow. This is actually a lot earlier than I expected. Hopefully I'll snag it day one. Guess I better get hunting again to quickly fulfill my goals in 4U!
@NewAdvent Well there was "something" in 4U which made me less inspired to go through the game a lot in solo, unlike 3U where MH was my lifeblood for quite some time xD 4U was still amazing though.
Looks great and love the fact that this game will come so quick.
It also, unfortunately, cements the fact that the Great Ace Attorney will probably never be localized. All thanks to the wonky localization (everything occurring in America) xD
@Smash_kirby
That could work but it's not really necessary. We'd just have 4 mapped psynergy instead of 2 haha.
Yea considering the breaks the series has taken, a compilation would be a best introduction to a series.
For a new game, I would like if Camelot co-operated with another studio, so y'know, they can increase the scale of the game. Plus they are a studio less in staff.
@Smash_kirby Oh yea the summons, they were amazing the first time I played GS1 and GS2, and even more amazing in Dark Dawn. Although them being missable in Dark Dawn was painful, especially the Dream Leaf one.
I don't see which new control options though, the controls were all nicely mapped, I guess they could support the Circle Pad but all DS games already, equivalent to the D-pad.
I really really want to see a Golden Sun and this generation is almost over. As long as Nintendo gives it proper exposure and a chance to succeed, a GS4 might really help the franchise become popular again. Camelot just needs to work on the story, their (bad) dialogue and slightly spruce up the combat and the game will be amazing!
@Smash_kirby Wait a collection of the first 3 Advance Wars or Golden Sun(s)? I want both xD
I wonder if they will continue with the more light-hearted original trilogy or the darker Days of Ruin. I would be fine with both as I primarily want this amazing series to come back, but if they go for a sequel to Dual Strike, that Dual Strike has to be fixed cause it was super broken. Days of Ruin also has potential as a sequel storywise, and maybe combat wise as long as they keep the CO powers toned down. Plus a hard mode please, although one not relying on speed capturing...
@Smash_kirby Well that is good to hear that IS still remembers Advance Wars. Days of Ruin, albeit slightly polarizing due to its shift in tone (darker, none of the fighting is fun tone from the older games), was an amazing reboot with a more balanced gameplay which had become broken by the time of Dual Strike in the trilogy. I love the series, maybe sometimes more than Fire Emblem and really want it to have a great revival.
Hopefully they remember what made it great and don't radically change the gameplay for the masses. Also I wish they won't add a huge ton of DLC...
I also want to see a Golden Sun 4, but since the 3DS is probably on its last run as well, I would prefer it to be an early entry on whatever the new handheld is (or a component of the NX ecosystem) is rather than a late entry after the successor has released.
@FX29 I guess the option might be good to have, but I still believe that despite the learning curve, the stylus controls were amazing and shouldn't be omitted.
@Smash_kirby Wait what? I haven't heard any news of a new Advance Wars, from anywhere, despite the series being super amazing. If it was true, surely the Advance Wars fanbase would be hyped.
Hopefully whenever a new AW comes out, it won't be as broken as Dual Strike and be in a similar vein to Days of Ruin, my favourite Advance Wars (with some truly epic music). With hopefully no DLC ..... or too much mainstream focus (I'm looking at you Fire Emblem)
@FX29 I agree with all the comments about having a Kid Icarus HD but I absolutely loved the controls!! Would want a remake or sequel (whenever it happens) to have the touch controls, even on land, where they worked really well for precise aiming, more precise than I have aimed with dual analog.
Maybe something like Splatoon's gyroscope based controls if not the touchscreen rather than plain old dual-analog.
On another note, getting those last few achievements is tough....
I am super late to the discussion, but I still don't get the point of changing their ages AND censoring the costumes. How does that even make sense? One should be sufficient.
I usually dislike fanservice and it's extremely off-putting in games (except the crossover type fanservice, that is cool) where it doesn't belong but I hate censorship even more. I do understand they want to put the game in the T rating, but these changes are still stupid.
I still think most of these changes are being 'suggested' by Nintendo to Atlus. Seriously, this might decrease the sales of this title even more which wouldn't have sold a lot anyway...
@AVahne Yea you were calling it out for quite some time. Now it has come true.... Oh great, is more casualization of Fire Emblem even possible?
@SomeBitTripFan <silence.....>
I used to love the series immensely but with the way the series has progressed, I am not excited. Don't really care about animal crossing either, but it'd probably be a good fit.
It's a good thing it's not advance wars, that series deserves a better revival than a smartphone game.
@Spiders Yea going with something fresh is definitely great. I have really gotten used to this idea and am excited for this game. It will come out during my holidays so I can buy it day one as well I loved all the Atlus games myself, and this doesn't look to be an exception.
Atlus usually has excellent English but I still love that I will get to play this in Japanese. I wouldn't have minded if there was a dual audio option for other people, but too bad it wasn't in their budget.
Hopefully nothing gets censored since Nintendo is still the publisher and calling the shots, despite them saying Atlus is handling localization.
The game looks rad to me. Despite the extremely different route it took by being inspired from both series, but resembling neither, it looks really interesting. Love the fact that it retains JP voices since I prefer video games to be as close as possible to their Japanese equivalent, albeit subtitled.
I don't really mind the music, sounds awesome to me. I have generally heard positive comments about the game, especially the amazing turn-based combat.
I will not buying NX whenever it comes out day one, since I recently bought the Wii U and absolutely LOVE it. I still need to go through its library so I will take some time.
Although Wii U projects being moved over sounds slightly annoying. It has definitely happened though considering all the droughts, but the Wii U has also brought some neat gems.
The rumour does sound good on paper but fast releases makes me scared that every game will have some Mario involved or be slightly barebones. Ah well. Still taking rumours with salt.
@Luna_110 Oh yea Trauma Center. Totally forgot about it. Those were some amazing games. Although the challenge levels in the first game.... and then I got stuck at the second game haha.
Didn't try any of the Wii games. Atlus sure has a prolific profile of games. I really need to play Digital Devil Saga...
Happy 30th Birthday to Atlus! I love their games and the amazing experiences they offer! Especially the SMT series (with all spinoffs) and the Etrian Odyssey games.
I hope they continue giving us awesome experiences. They definitely deserve greater acclaim.
I am looking forward to SMTIV: Final, EOV and Genei Ibun Roku #FE.
The gold rewards are awful. We need these many points to earn a small discount. I would prefer if I got smaller Download only games as an award over the current system.
Plus the expiry of 6 months is really short. At least make it an year, or better, 2 years like the old coin system.
@SyFyTy Well I would love a new Advance Wars to come out, but I'd love a traditional Advance Wars or a sequel to Days of Ruin, not something Awakening-ized. That probably won't even work with the series though...
Intelligent Systems has abandoned Advance Wars so far. Maybe their project after Fates?
@DarthNocturnal
Yea I know about that. It was 2 years ago...
Wow Nintendo over here is really late. I would love it if it happens since I absolutely loved the game and want to play it again but alas I don't have my old copy anymore. Probably my favourite Advance Wars game despite them abandoning the broken gameplay of Dual Strike, and comedy of the first 3 games (which I also loved)
But yea hopefully that happens. Atleast make DS titles as DSiware is great but then they have to go on system memory, and you can only have so many....
Will definitely agree with the TWEWY (The World ends with you) suggestion. Amazing game.
I thought they had already discontinued making DS cartridges since so many titles have risen in price... Hopefully I will be able to get a copy of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin since the copies are running for so high now >.<
Guess I better be faster in getting the games I missed out on.
@Snargledon
I was sorta expecting that to happen as well. It did fly off though.
Although I got goosebumps when I heard the first 'objection' in Phoenix's flashback. The part later on when he says it himself and Objection starts to play was also awesome.
They didn't play Cornered though >.< Probably saving it for later, more epic cases.
Just watched the episode, and it was pretty nice. Great adaptation of the first case, and it follows it line to line at some points. Although the powers of finger pointing were definitely amplified here.
I guess I was one of the few who expected slightly higher production values, but this will also do great. Waiting for the next episode when he meets Maya!
@Angelo-Noir
I know right? It is one of the best eShop games I have played so far and I am loving every moment of it!
The battles can be challenging, the dice based system is great, music is great and I love the atmosphere and the storytelling! It definitely belongs on this list in my opinion. A short, but finely crafted adventure RPG experience.
Just finishing up the uber side battle on my 2nd playthrough.
And no top 10 list can ever be completely satisfying considering the large number of amazing games, and some games which just slip under the radar >.<
This list includes the amazing Kid Icarus: Uprising but excludes MH4U >.<
As I said on the community list these lists need more Atlus (and other 3rd party) love considering some amazing games they have made on the 3DS.
I am pretty fine with the download list but the inclusion of Rusty's Baseball is odd. It is charming but I didn't think it'd make it onto the top 10.
Crimson Shroud and Liberation Maiden were also both amazing download titles.
It's nice to say Attack of the Friday Monsters make it on the list. That was one small, but fun experience. Except getting all cards after endgame which was tedious. Guild01 and 02 had some neat gems.
Decent list, although the retail list could have used some more diversity considering all the great games the 3DS has seen. Honestly surprised that a Pokemon game isn't on the list.
Some extremely great games didn't make it onto the list in preference for 3 remakes -_- Didn't play Fates either yet, so can't comment on that. Probably could have used some more 3rd party love.
Would have loved to see games like:
1) Kid Icarus (absolutely phenomenal, can't believe I almost missed out on this gem)
2) Shin Megami Tensei 4 (awesome sequel, to an amazing series)
3) Etrian Odyssey 4 (loved the new overworld, music, everything)
4) Resident Evil: Revelations
and others.
The Download list was probably much better, although I would also give a mention to Crimson Shroud (another Guild01 game). One of the harder RPGs I have recently played (NG+) with a classic dice based system, and a finely crafted story, despite the short length. Loved it
I liked this game a lot, much like all the Advance Wars but the Dual Strike system was broken... very broken. It was possible to wipe out the entire enemy army from a bad situation if planned correctly.
And I loved the "darker" sequel as well, it gave the series a bit of a fresh start after the CO powers started to go out of hand. I liked the lower intensity of the powers (except the final boss, that was broken as heck) as well as leveling up troops. Plus it wasn't as funny as the original Advance Wars' "Let's fight for fun! Oh and let hundreds of troops die in the process" xD
Advance Wars had a type of strategy which Fire Emblem can't replicate due to the former having military units which can be sacrificed, resource management during the battle, less like a RPG actually. FE has more management throughout the game (although the later entries kinda negated that with DLC for this easy xp/money etc.) and unique characters who you can't just keep killing.
Although I still wanted a hard mode in Days of Ruin...
Too bad Intelligent Systems is now focused on 'expanding' Fire Emblem's audience instead of making a new Advance Wars game. I wouldn't mind something between DoR and the original series in tone.
Wow that's indeed bad luck. Maybe some incorrect letter? Although I don't think Club Nintendo given codes are even valid anymore, so doesn't really help >.<
I liked the game for what it was. Really interesting Pokemon spin-off, although the difficulty sort of spikes near the end. That Charizard fight shown in the screenshot, was a wall for me quite some time....
I recently tried the Link's Awakening DX I got from Nintendo as a Club Nintendo reward (I had big backlog) on my 3DS, and I must say it is really good.
Really amazing actually considering it is a Game Boy game. Thank goodness Nintendo gave it a thumbs up
The game looks amazing. Copen is a wonderful addition as well, sorta reminds me of ZX and ZX advent where you could switch between modes and even copy some bosses, appearance and moveset! Sure it isn't the same but hey 2 characters = twice the action!
Loved the first, but I am still waiting for that update Inti Creates promised. Y'know the one with the fixed dialogue, mid-battle dialogue and Japanese voices which the Steam version had as part of the core game.....
Wait no English dub at all? That's actually... great news!!!
No sub-par english voice acting! I would have played with subs only. Hopefully they don't change the written dialogue cause that'd be extremely stupid.
Oh well definitely going to buy this. A FE and SMT crossover, count me in! Heck I was in since day one, although it turned out to be much more Persona than I expected.
Wow really interesting discussions going on here. Ah that is why I love comment sections
My 2 cents:
> Game doesn't look that bad, worth a shot --
> Fans while going overboard with the hate, do have some justification with being mad at this game.
Extra point: I haven't played Other M but from what I have read about Samus's characterization, it is pretty bad and very very different from the glimpses of her personality seen from the other games. Plus it makes Adam from Fusion downright unlikeable -_-
I can't judge the gameplay, but I have atleast heard that it is good.
P.S. I want a sequel to Fusion!!! Metroid 5 where art thou?
Oh well! It is great that Etrian Odyssey V is on 3DS as well (as it should be) and the game looks pretty nice. Funnily enough I have yet to beat the final superboss in Etrian IV. And I think retiring is a bit too tedious for me to get into no matter how OP potential it has -_- Still Etrian is an amazing series!
Loving the new interface! The graphics look slightly better too. And some new icons, more map controls and the overworld hot-balloon map!
As long as the game keeps what made Etrian IV great and adds cool stuff of its own, I will be satisfied!
@Action51
The thing is the average consumer doesn't watch the directs either. Most people who actually watch these directs are Nintendo fans like us who already know all the announced games, and have seen them in the past 2-3 directs as well...
The leak doesn't really look exciting at all to me besides Monster Hunter Generations.
@JaxonH
What about, incredibly boring journalistic skill
@Gridatttack
It is absolute shame that Radiant Dawn sold so low. It was an absolutely amazing FE game. It had a few hiccups (slow start, too stripped back supports, spikes) but I felt it improved in a lot of aspects of Path of Radiance, which was phenomenal in itself.
Would have loved a game in its vein but guess now we will get more games like Fates (or FE: Dates xD).
I still have to finish Awakening (almost done) so will hold a while before I get Fates. Plus I want the 3rd route to come out before I buy this, although I can't say I support the "Buy all three routes to get the whole story and the canonical ending!" path Nintendo went with this.
Conquest for me definitely. Supposedly it has more complex gameplay like the older games. Are status effects back?
"Basically, the developers seem keen on continuing down the path they've started with Fire Emblem: Awakening and Fates"
Great! Bye latest FEs from my favourite games' list. That spot now probably belongs to the Tellius series permanently.
Oh and we're doomed.
@Einherjar
I agree with most of the stuff you said. Broad appeal has in my opinion devalued the series. Not only does the game pander excessively to the 'muh waifu' crowd with generic anime tropes, but the strategy has been dumbed down. No light magic, no status effects, simpler maps, excessively powerful pair up, etc. and in my opinion cheaper difficulty at higher modes. Oh and the addition of Phoenix Mode ....
Funnily enough Sacred Stones wasn't regarded as highly as Blazing Sword in the GBA games, but the latest games are taking a lot of things from it. The map and moving around it, more dungeons (albeit free in Sacred stones) where you could build exp/supports and get neat item, and the branching paths. I loved Sacred Stones and the way it executed all these things. Fates requires you to buy all three games to get a conclusive ending (and all three paths) and to understand the story fully... Not to mention all the DLC maps.
Splitting the game because of size constraints used to happen earlier like in Golden Sun where the game was meant to be one cohesive game but due to the cartridge constraints they had to make GS1 and GS2. They did a fine job though and the games already stands as one of the best games on GBA in the technical department. Not to mention they were great RPGs.
Now the splitting occurs for DLC >.<
P.S. I still like FE: Awakening but I don't like the way the 'development' of the series is going.
@Mogster
I will disagree. Censorship doesn't have to be by the government. This will be considered as a case of self-censorship which is a completely valid term.
As long as the original content is removed, it is definitely censorship.
@JaxonH
First arena as in Lyn's route? There are no physics at that point in the game >.< Which are still pretty rare to get. And by risk I meant as in you get a random weapon and get paired with a random enemy who might put you at a big disadvantage.
Although I would never need a horde of steel weapons anyway. I always had enough weapons to get by, including the Killer weapons so never had to resort to cash grinding. Experience on the other hand....
Great now I feel like playing Blazing Sword again. I never did finish Hector's route on Hard.
@JaxonH Arenas were never THAT great for cash. Plus they can be pretty risky business. And the secret pass items are expensive. In the end, you had to really go out of your way to get a little more money.

Re: Video: Nintendo Aims to Get Down With the Kids in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Series
Actually I think even the Japanese version of the game had the pants, the other being initially used in promotion but changed in the Japanese release.
So I guess it is not a localization change per se.

Re: Feature: Some of Our Favourite 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition
@Angelo-Noir
Re: Feature: Some of Our Favourite 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition
@Grumblevolcano
Not wrong though
Re: Community: Your Favourite 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition
Loved it
Re: Review: Advance Wars: Dual Strike (Wii U eShop / DS)
Re: Takashi Tezuka Began Development On Zelda: Link's Awakening Without Nintendo's Permission
@Rei
Wow something is seriously wrong with this site >.< I just clicked reply once. Oh well deleted the duplicates.
Re: Takashi Tezuka Began Development On Zelda: Link's Awakening Without Nintendo's Permission
@Rei
Wow that's indeed bad luck. Maybe some incorrect letter? Although I don't think Club Nintendo given codes are even valid anymore, so doesn't really help >.<
Re: Takashi Tezuka Began Development On Zelda: Link's Awakening Without Nintendo's Permission
@Rei
Well...I claimed mine a very long time ago and had it downloaded Just never got the time to play it haha.
I made it a point to use all my codes as soon as I got them, in case they became too old or something.
Re: Review: Pokémon Ranger (Wii U / DS)
I liked the game for what it was. Really interesting Pokemon spin-off, although the difficulty sort of spikes near the end. That Charizard fight shown in the screenshot, was a wall for me quite some time....
Re: Takashi Tezuka Began Development On Zelda: Link's Awakening Without Nintendo's Permission
I recently tried the Link's Awakening DX I got from Nintendo as a Club Nintendo reward (I had big backlog) on my 3DS, and I must say it is really good.
Really amazing actually considering it is a Game Boy game. Thank goodness Nintendo gave it a thumbs up
Re: Video: New Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 Trailer Showcases Summer Release
The game looks amazing. Copen is a wonderful addition as well, sorta reminds me of ZX and ZX advent where you could switch between modes and even copy some bosses, appearance and moveset! Sure it isn't the same but hey 2 characters = twice the action!
Loved the first, but I am still waiting for that update Inti Creates promised. Y'know the one with the fixed dialogue, mid-battle dialogue and Japanese voices which the Steam version had as part of the core game.....
Re: Genei Ibun Roku #FE Is Now Called Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE In The West, Arrives In June
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force is Coming Sooner Than Expected
Re: First Etrian Odyssey V Story Details Emerge From the Depths
Wait, I missed the announcement? When was this!?
Re: Talking Point: It's Catch-Up Time for Nintendo Direct, With North America and Europe Having Different Priorities
@Action51
The thing is the average consumer doesn't watch the directs either. Most people who actually watch these directs are Nintendo fans like us who already know all the announced games, and have seen them in the past 2-3 directs as well...
The leak doesn't really look exciting at all to me besides Monster Hunter Generations.
@JaxonH
What about, incredibly boring journalistic skill
I kid xD
Re: Fire Emblem Fates Becomes Fastest Selling Release in Franchise History in the US
@Gridatttack
Re: Fire Emblem Developers on How the Series Can Maintain its Momentum
"Basically, the developers seem keen on continuing down the path they've started with Fire Emblem: Awakening and Fates"
Great! Bye latest FEs from my favourite games' list. That spot now probably belongs to the Tellius series permanently.
Oh and we're doomed.
@Einherjar
Re: Research Highlights That Older Gamers Drift Away From Competitive Gaming But Still Enjoy Strategy
@JaxonH
Yea it's fine, it has been like 2-3 years since I last touched Blazing Sword.
Hand axes and javelins do typically have low uses.
Physics are expensive due to their nifty ranged healing. Amassing weapons, if not many, was a must xD
Guess I have another replay to add to my list of games to play again.
Re: Editorial: Game Localisation Isn't Just About Preserving The 'Pure' Original
@Mogster
I will disagree. Censorship doesn't have to be by the government. This will be considered as a case of self-censorship which is a completely valid term.
As long as the original content is removed, it is definitely censorship.
Re: Research Highlights That Older Gamers Drift Away From Competitive Gaming But Still Enjoy Strategy
@JaxonH
Re: Research Highlights That Older Gamers Drift Away From Competitive Gaming But Still Enjoy Strategy
@JaxonH
Arenas were never THAT great for cash. Plus they can be pretty risky business. And the secret pass items are expensive. In the end, you had to really go out of your way to get a little more money.
