Re: Feature: What's Your Most Treasured Club Nintendo Possession?

Ks123

I used to go to my local GameStop’s and pull the codes out of used copies of games that people had traded in and were sitting on the display shelf. Somewhat trolly of me? Eh, it made me realize how many people didn’t care about Club Nintendo and didn’t bother to redeem their points. I picked up a few really cool Club rewards as a result of it though.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Had A Spectacular Year, And May Have Big Plans

Ks123

I’d argue that Nintendo would be pleased with Mario Kart Live. It’s not a runaway monster success, but 1.27 million copies at a $100 msrp needs to be kept in perspective. During last Christmas it was hard to find them in stores and I think the max discount I’ve ever seen it selling for is $90. Overall I’d say not too shabby of a profit.

Re: Xbox Cloud On Switch? Nintendo Won't Allow It, Says Industry Analyst

Ks123

I don’t think this has anything to do with Game Pass. I think it’s a lot more simple than that. Banjo Kazooie are in Smash and the amiibo just launched, I think there’s been ongoing conversation behind the scenes bw Nintendo and Microsoft about how to address the legacy and history of Rare and Nintendo moving forward. I think whatever this teasing is about is quite likely to do with Banjo games at the least, if not getting other Rare games on Switch.

Re: F-Zero Isn't Dead - It's Just Sleeping, Says Nintendo Legend Takaya Imamura

Ks123

@Clyde_Radcliffe I respect Miyamoto and wanting to evolve games with each entry, but to your point, it’s not like every new Smash or Mario Kart is revolutionary per se. Sequels can iterate and tweak and perfect on previous versions without being whole cloth reinventions and I think that’s what Nintendo sometimes doesn’t understand about these dormant franchises. At this point it’s been so long with an F Zero, Waverace, Knock Out, etc etc that we would just be happy with online multiplayer, HD visuals and modern quality of life upgrades and it would sell millions.

Re: It Looks Like Labo Is Being Put To Rest As Nintendo Takes Down The Website

Ks123

@Grim you and I are the same. I bought all 4 of the Labo sets for $20 a piece during sales last year during quarantine summer. Truthfully I haven’t assembled the cardboards or played any of them (besides just earning MyNintendo coins for them) but as a Nintendo nerd I’m happy that I have them and feel pretty good that I only spent a total of $80 on them versus the $300+ they cost msrp. I can very much see them being a rainy weekend activity in the future with my partner and kid. And if nothing else they’re a little bit of quirky Nintendo history.

Re: Review: Balan Wonderworld - A Charmless, Confusing Fossil From The Creators Of Sonic

@TheLightSpirit my comment and open ended question was genuine. I haven’t seen or read any of your discussions with other posters so I’m not sure what “you’ve gotten into” and sorry if it was a negative experience.

I’m coming from a place of genuine disappointment bc as a (very forgiving) Sonic fan I was excited to support this game. But what I’m hearing is pretty dreadful and my comment was simply: you can pretty up a bad game on ps5 sure, but does that suddenly make it not a bad game?

Re: Poll: Monster Hunter Rise Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Ks123

First ever Monster Hunter. I’m a pushover for hype so I shelled out for the Collectors. Will be waiting by the door when I get home from work tonight. As for whether I’ll love the game? To be determined. I understand the MH series is an acquired taste and I’m not traditionally super patient to learn difficult mechanics. We shall see how that combo plays out 😃

Re: Nintendo Celebrates MAR10 Day 2021 With Themed Switch Sale (North America)

@Jedge396 I applaud your contributions and the work that you do to help those less fortunate. That’s amazing and I celebrate you. I hope you’ve been able to be vaccinated. Even more important why words matters, because your story is so admirable. In the US we have lots of deadbeats who burn masks and blame the government because they’re inconvenienced by missing their local BBQ.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates MAR10 Day 2021 With Themed Switch Sale (North America)

Ks123

@TryToBeHopeful but it is, that’s my point. It is legal. I don’t know where he’s located, but the federal and state governments in the United States haven’t made it illegal to meet with people. There are just strong and definitive guidelines about a communicable respiratory illness spreading easily through your group if you decide, for example, to have a Mario Tennis party at your house. Nobody’s civil liberties are being trampled here. Let’s get a grip.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates MAR10 Day 2021 With Themed Switch Sale (North America)

Ks123

@Jedge396 what an interesting response.

“Legal” as in the government is stepping on your civil rights and liberties by not allowing you to gather to play some video games? As opposed to a deadly virus that’s killed over 500,000 Americans so you’re slightly inconvenienced by not gathering with friends and spreading said virus?

Re: The First Review For Bravely Default II Is Now In

Ks123

I really enjoyed Bravely 1. Like really really.
Bravely Second and Octopath were also fun so the developer has a good enough track record with me that I will definitely pick up Bravely 2. That being said, it won’t be a day 1 buy for me this time around. I’ll definitely be waiting for a sale, with the sweet spot being in the $30-$40 range. It was also a big help that they chose not to do a Collectors this time around, making it easier for my collector’s OCD brain to wait.

Re: The 3DS Game Miitopia Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This May

Ks123

@Silly_G I guess maybe we must be misunderstanding each other?

Everything I’ve read about Miitopia this week after the Direct says the game does, in fact, function explicitly because you meet Mii’s via Streetpass. Weather they are friends/family or strangers, the whole concept of the game is that their Mii’s are used in game to interact with your Mii character. Otherwise you find yourself wasting time creating dozens of Mii’s on your own to fill those roles, which I suppose could be fun for someone but sounds kinda tedious. So I stand by my point about the social aspect of the 3DS version of this game and how that will translate to a “home” version on Switch.

Perhaps you played it differently?

Re: Famicom Detective Club Is Getting A Collector's Edition In Japan

Ks123

This looks pretty but considering this series has never even been on my radar I would skip over a collectors edition. I would, however, be in for a standard physical copy with both games on cart. If only NOA would get it together to make that happen, because I’m always excited to experience obscure Nintendo series that are new to me.

Re: The 3DS Game Miitopia Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This May

Ks123

@Silly_G sorry I meant Streetpass obviously and not Spotpass, sorry about that. And thanks for clearing that up, I thought there was a really big Mii component dealing with interacting with people you meet in real life. Sounds like I totally misunderstood what Miitopia was supposed to be about all these days. Lol

Re: The 3DS Game Miitopia Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This May

Ks123

Genuine question because I never played it, I thought Miitopia (and a couple other similar games on 3DS) really thrived because of the really awesome spot pass feature on 3DS which let you “meet” Mii’s that you passed by in the real world? To be more direct with my question, if the game idea lives and dies on you “meeting Mii’s” how do you recreate that if we’re not out and about and interacting with humans and on a system that isn’t explicitly a handheld?
