@dBackLash that’s a really good point, I had that thought at hour two. Like, “What am I doing here? Why am I wasting my time on this nonsense that isn’t important?” Ironically, a few minutes later I was able to check out and order the pin set. But there’s definitely some good food for thought about what’s important and what isn’t.
I happened to be home and in front of my computer so I was one of the folks who checked about 20 min before official “live” time and was able to get my code.
Once I got my code, however, it took me another 2.5 hours of fighting with the cart/check out process to pay for shipping and get an order number. The Nintendo Store completely popped the bed under the weight of all the traffic.
I kept telling myself, “don’t worry, since you got the code you are guaranteed to get the pin set once the website starts working again” but from the sound of everyone’s experiences, that was definitely not the case. The code did not guarantee you anything unless you fully finished the check out process.
Thankfully I had ordered from Nintendo Store before so my address and credit card payment were saved, which was one less hoop to jump through.
Man, I dunno. I love Nintendo but they sure do put that love to the test. I’m feeling very fortunate but many others must be feeling really chapped and burned right now.
I think there's a real lack of conversation about how the announcement and pre-order for the game happened.
I tried to pre-order using my regular go-to for video games, Best Buy. Checked it pretty regularly and nothing. It's not even listed on their site. Ditto for Amazon, as of the time I'm writing. Same goes for Target and Walmart. What's the deal?
If we didn't know any better, as of right now this is a Gamestop exclusive lol. There are not one but 3 version of it up for pre-order on Gamestop, including the edition with the Amiibo, which of course is already sold out.
So if, like me, you've been waiting to get your pre-order in for the Amiibo edition and have been checking Best Buy, etc, well we all got screwed. Thanks Capcom? Nintendo? Who would be blamed for this mess?
And why in 2020 is any publisher/developer making exclusive deals with Gamestop, a company that is notorious for their garbage customer service and anti-consumer attitude, forced their employees to work as "essential" during the early months of a pandemic, and is closing stores left and right??!
@RenanKJ I think you nailed it the best 💯 but I’ll paraphrase with my thoughts lol...
as a collection, this is pretty lazy and uninspired on Nintendo’s part. It feels thrown together quickly by some interns. Lol
all that being said...these are 3 AMAZING games now all in HD on one cart so it’s hard to grumble about that when every single one of these independently puts a giant smile on my face.
@Ajent Amazon has been hot garbage since at least the beginning of the pandemic, but actually longer. I’ll order from 2 or 3 other online stores before I’ll check Amazon as my absolutely my last stop
@aznable awesome, what’s your feedback and experience been with ring fit? I think it’s a blast and am incredibly impressed at the level of workout it actually provides! I’ve had a hard time keeping a regular schedule with it though, which isn’t so much a commentary on the game as it is on my discipline. Lol
@AtlanteanMan I that think for me Sega lives best in my mind. The nostalgia of what Sega was for me growing up will always stay with me. But the Sega of today is not the same and I think it’s best we let those expectations go because they lead to disappointment. Streets of Rage 4 is amazing!!!!! and Sega has nothing to do with it, so maybe it’s just best that they license their properties out to other developers. 🤷♂️
Moral of the story is, I probably won’t ever Kickstart a game ever again.
My first experience was with Shenmue 3 which was an atrocious experience and I vowed to never do that again after what a distaste it left in my mouth. But then I thought Wonderful 101 was really charming on WiiU so I took the chance again. It wasn’t nearly as bad an experience to be honest. The 3D slipcover is nicely done, but I don’t know that it was worth the extra money over buying the game at Best Buy.
Which leads me to my real question, where is the DLC?? We were told that Kickstarter backers would receive DLC for “free” with our backer order. How? When? Has this ever been discussed or just forgotten? Asking genuinely.
@RCGamer OMG the Turtles games for NES and SNES would make me loose my millennial mind 🤯!!!
I know that I’m simplifying things that I don’t fully understand, but really if Nickelodeon truly wanted to they would get with Konami and figure out the ownership and rights situation to the old TMNT games because they would make stuuuuuupid money from people like me.
@boxyguy yeah I mean sure people could do that, but then it begs the question, why even bother? Surely you have to have better things to do with your time and life no? For those of us actually implementing this into our workout routine, keep kicking butt! I use this as part of my warmup before Ring Fit.
Also, from a cynical business perspective, Nintendo is killing sales with the Switch despite not having released many games so far this year. So I’d imagine that internally the discussion is, “why rush development and announcements if we sell out of every Switch we ship?”
Honestly I’m so inundated w amazing games that I haven’t had time/opportunity to play yet in my backlog that I’m ok with the current situation. You have no idea how many games I’ve picked up this summer on sale for $20 that I would have never ever picked up otherwise, on top of Animal Crossing, on top of Xenoblade, on top of getting my fitness on with Ring Fit and Just Dance. Like, I’m good.
That being said, it’s starting to be that time where Ninty needs to loosen the belt on what they have planned for Christmas/holiday.
@Menardi btw I forgot to mention this, and I’m sure you know, but just in case...Yooka is still available liberally at Best Buy for $50...which is still too high of an entry price for me, but certainly less expensive that what you mentioned.
You know, it’s kinda interesting how the pendulum swings. When Limited Run first started up, they were praised for bringing physical copies of games that major publishers would otherwise never take the risk of releasing. And now the tide has turned against them for creating artificial scarcity, exorbitantly high pricing, and cheap junk that caters to ocd collectors. I mean on one hand, I suppose it’s basic rules of free market capitalism. But it’s also a lesson that if Limited Run doesn’t change their practices, they may find themselves left behind.
@Cevil I’m so glad that I passed on the Limited Run Streets of Rage 4. I went back and forth until the last minute. It just didn’t feel right and I’m glad I didn’t bc the mass physical copy cover art looks so much better.
@Menardi I agree with everything that you said, better than I could have. I too would love this on physical cart, but my max would be $30-$35, which considering that it’s $15 digital, it being generous. The prices that they are asking here are absurd, given the trinkets that you are getting with it. I feel about Limited Run games the same that I feel about Kickstarter, meaning, I like what they do in theory, but in actuality they are too overpriced for what they offer. And, as you said, they are creating artificial scarcity for these products. I just wish there was another way.
Sigh 😔. To think that this is what Club Nintendo was replaced with and we’re supposed to get excited by some wallpapers. Hehe. Oh woop, more important things going on in the world.
@Paraka yeah I realized after posting that there was a whole discussion going on about this. Tbh I regretted my post pretty fast and don’t have interest into getting into this debate bc it’s pretty fruitless. Respect your opinion not to like TLoU2. To each their own.
@RPGamer hey! So I was able to order one on amazon and then also the same day locked an order in on Best Buy’s website. (Why did I order two, you ask? I’ve been burned with bad online orders before and wanted to cover myself. Let’s just say I’m so thankful that I ordered the both. It’s a long story and I’m happy to share if someone messages and cares to hear it lol.)
They’re still pretty hard to find, meaning it’s a lot of trial and error checking in on web stores for availability, but it’s getting better as Nintendo ramps up production and shipping to us in the US. I’m also hearing from people that they’re finding them in the wild in stores, but again that’s hit or miss.
So keep trying. It’s such an amazing product That it’s worth the effort.
@rockodoodle next time you see it, BUY IT! I don’t say this lightly or to be flip, it’s amazing! I consider myself a decently fit guy and right now I feel soreness through my legs and butt as I sit here typing. The design on this game is fantastic, it’s super charming and engaging, and a really really solid home workout if that’s what you’re looking for.
I’m happy to discuss more if somebody cares to chat about it. I’m really in love with this game.
After months of looking for it, I finally was able to find it on Amazon and was fast enough to get an order placed. I receive the box yesterday and I’m BEYOND excited to start playing and working out after months of being sedentary. What’s in the box, you ask? Amazon US decided to send me the European version of Ring Fit, specifically with an Italian sticker on the barcode. 🤯
I’m super disappointed but can’t say I’m totally shocked because it’s been Amazon’s greatest hits lately. They have had one big f-up after another for me since the global health crisis started and I’m finally fed up enough that they won’t be receiving my business until they get it together.
Not to end on a negative note there is a happy ending to this story. I was able to lock in an order for Ring Fit through Best Buy as well and that will be arriving in a couple days. At least I know that Best Buy ships me the items I actually order and not what the warehouse just feels like fulfilling today.
@westman98 how though? Where is the increased supply? In the US it’s still impossible to find at stores or online. Unless someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong 🤷♂️
@Deltath Amen. It’s so cool to see so many people have the same experience I had with this game. I’m so super satisfied by it. I put over 100 hours on it. I wouldn’t say I’m done w it forever, but I’m happy with the amount of joy it gave me for the amount of money I spent on it.
@ShadJV oh really? And see the wedding month activity seemed kinda lame to me so I didn’t bother jumping back in to try it. But now I feel like I’m missing out! Lol
@Heavyarms55 I’m in the same boat. This was my first animal crossing game ever and, through a mix of real life circumstances and just the sheer joy of the game, I loved the crap out of it! Played every day for like two months and over 100 hours. But I finally put it on pause and am ok just checking back in periodically. I’m hoping to see some really amazing content being added on a monthly or seasonal basis.
How are Japan and U.K. getting these Ring Fits? In the USA I’ve been looking for a copy for 3-4 months with zero success. In stores or online. Store staff have told me they haven’t received shipments in months of it. So how are other countries getting them? Long story short...I want one lol 😩 😢
Honestly it’s a lot of hoop jumping, between the game, Home Switch and Home Mobile. I get it, they want to foster engagement between all the pieces of software. It’s the first time I booted up Home Mobile in months so I guess what do I know. 🤷♂️ 😜
Folks get annoyed with me when I bash Amazon’s shipping lately...”but we’re in a pandemic”.
I get that we’re in a pandemic. But if Target can deliver my bluray movies on release day and if a third party seller can deliver an old video game using basic usps within three days, why oh why can’t Amazon, the world’s largest retailer and hands down one of the most powerful companies in the world (so much so that they don’t pay taxes the way you and I have to), figure out how to deliver my vitamins?! When I called their customer service you know what they say to me, “it’s a pandemic sir”. I explained that my vitamins were considered “essential to health” and should not take 3 weeks to deliver to me. He spoke with his manager. They didn’t care. I canceled my order and didn’t renew my Prime subscription.
Don’t misunderstand. I’m not simply being bratty and I understand that things are difficult for everybody everywhere right now. But Amazon really pooped the bed the last few months and nobody is holding them responsible. End rant. Lmao.
This delay struck me hard. I was really really looking forward and counting down to this release. Just to be brought back to a lighter time when this game (and movie) was released. I was a teen and life was just simpler and easier. The power of nostalgia.
Ah well, obviously everybody being safe is the priority and I will pick this up day one when it launches. Hopefully not too long from now.
@thesilverbrick Right?! I did that math too. But I justified paying a few dollars more bc we are getting the DLC for “free” with our Kickstarter pledge. But now getting the game potentially after somebody ordering from Best Buy kinda chaps me. And yeah, why a Steam code and not an eShop code??
The lesson learned for me after getting absolutely nailed by the terrible Shenmue 3 Kickstarter and now this, I probably won’t ever Kickstart a game again.
@Dang69 it’s funny I got a Kickstarter email from them just minutes ago as I was reading this article. Looks like physical has been delayed until late June for backers. Bummer.
As I was half way into reading this article I got an email notification for Kickstarter backers saying that physical copies would be delayed until late June. This is life, I suppose lol. Not totally surprised.
@Damo @34sdelfin I gotcha, thanks to you both. So it’s a case of Sega just not being bothered with some of their properties and licensing out to developers that actually care. Just seems strange to me bc I think they have so many valuable priorities that languish. Anyway, glad somebody is doing something worthwhile with SoR.
This may be well known and I just missed the ship, so apologies in advance, but can somebody fill me in on why the name Sega isn’t being mentioned in conjunction with this game?? Like why has Sega totally pooped the bed with their own properties?? Asking seriously, I genuinely don’t know. 🤷♂️
I’m new to Animal Crossing. New Horizons is my first ever Animal Crossing. I never thought I would ever be interested in the kind of gameplay it offers. I skipped New Leaf because it sounded boring when friends tried to convince me otherwise. I took a chance on New Horizons because, hype. The hype was off the charts. Also I hadn’t picked up a new Switch game in a long time and I guess I kind of had the foresight that I would need something during quarantine...
...I LOVE Animal Crossing New Horizons!!!
So as a newbie, I found the Bunny Day event new and fun and exciting and something to look forward to every day. My style is that I play about an hour every day since the game arrived on launch. Taking that into account, the 12 days of Bunny Day was kinda perfect for me to get all the DIY recipes and collect all the necessary eggs to craft with some extra eggs left over. Perhaps if I played more and longer I could see it getting annoying, but it was pretty perfect for me. The only thing I did really poorly on was Cherry Blossom recipes, not sure why I could only get a handful before the event ended. Bummer.
This game and the Bunny event has made me smile during a really difficult time. I even created a NL account to post this.

Don’t misunderstand. I’m not simply being bratty and I understand that things are difficult for everybody everywhere right now. But Amazon really pooped the bed the last few months and nobody is holding them responsible. End rant. Lmao.
Re: Star Wars Episode I: Racer Is No Longer Speeding Onto The Nintendo Switch Today
😫 😭
This delay struck me hard. I was really really looking forward and counting down to this release. Just to be brought back to a lighter time when this game (and movie) was released. I was a teen and life was just simpler and easier. The power of nostalgia.
Ah well, obviously everybody being safe is the priority and I will pick this up day one when it launches. Hopefully not too long from now.
Re: The Retail Release Of The Wonderful 101: Remastered Has Been Delayed
@KillerBOB the China virus huh? Ah just like your “president”.
Re: The Retail Release Of The Wonderful 101: Remastered Has Been Delayed
@KillerBOB stay classy
Re: The Retail Release Of The Wonderful 101: Remastered Has Been Delayed
@thesilverbrick Right?! I did that math too. But I justified paying a few dollars more bc we are getting the DLC for “free” with our Kickstarter pledge. But now getting the game potentially after somebody ordering from Best Buy kinda chaps me. And yeah, why a Steam code and not an eShop code??
The lesson learned for me after getting absolutely nailed by the terrible Shenmue 3 Kickstarter and now this, I probably won’t ever Kickstart a game again.
Re: The Wonderful 101: Remastered File Size And Other Details Revealed
@Dang69 it’s funny I got a Kickstarter email from them just minutes ago as I was reading this article. Looks like physical has been delayed until late June for backers. Bummer.
Re: The Wonderful 101: Remastered File Size And Other Details Revealed
As I was half way into reading this article I got an email notification for Kickstarter backers saying that physical copies would be delayed until late June. This is life, I suppose lol. Not totally surprised.
Re: Review: Streets of Rage 4 - A Perfect Modernisation Of A Beloved Franchise
@Damo @34sdelfin
I gotcha, thanks to you both. So it’s a case of Sega just not being bothered with some of their properties and licensing out to developers that actually care. Just seems strange to me bc I think they have so many valuable priorities that languish. Anyway, glad somebody is doing something worthwhile with SoR.
Re: Review: Streets of Rage 4 - A Perfect Modernisation Of A Beloved Franchise
This may be well known and I just missed the ship, so apologies in advance, but can somebody fill me in on why the name Sega isn’t being mentioned in conjunction with this game?? Like why has Sega totally pooped the bed with their own properties?? Asking seriously, I genuinely don’t know. 🤷♂️
Re: Reminder: Today Is Bunny Day In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Some background...
