If you've been lucky enough to visit Nintendo's world-famous store in Tokyo (or even if you've just watched hundreds of videos of other people visiting it on YouTube instead like us), you'll no doubt have seen the four statues that proudly adorn the shop floor.
Mario, Link, Isabelle and an Inkling can all be seen on large podiums in the centre of the store – the four characters serve as the store's mascots, often being used in its logos and even being plastered all across the store's windows. Now, Nintendo's giving you the chance to take these statues home. Kind of.
From this weekend, store attendees will be able to pick up miniature versions of the four statues, either separately or in a pack. They're available for 7,150 yen each (approx. $65 / £46), or for 28,600 yen for all four in a special box (approx. $260 / £187).
Nintendo's advertisement stops short of telling us just how big these figures are, but we'd hope they'd be pretty substantial for the asking price. Still, if you happen to know someone in Japan or if you're lucky enough to be there yourself in the coming weeks, why not pop in and take a look?
Oh, and if you want to buy some for us and send them our way, our address is...

Man, I wish I was in Tokyo 🙄
Man those are expensive!
Also I'm surprised Splatoon managed to be one of the four major franchises here instead of something like Donkey Kong.
They really don't look like they'd be worth the asking price. Doubt they're much bigger than an amiibo
They look nice but crazy price. They know people will pay. Bonkers.
Wow, they are not even Amiibo? That price is stupid.
But, this is just making me REALLY want to go back to Japan again, maybe next year, hopefully
@Tourtus Not to mention Pokémon...
Not only are these ridiculously over priced, but it actually costs more to purchase all four in a set than to buy them individually. This is Nintendo.
That is an outrageous price for something that's seemingly so small. Now if they are bigger than what it looks like then maybe it's sorta worthwhile, but still...
So they’re kinda like amiibo without the amiibo?
Man these comment sections are nothing if not predictable.
Height is 23cm including case.
@contractcooker,
Yes, just waiting for the inevitable comments about scalpers and E-bay, love the consistency of this site.
We've always known Mario and Link are mascots #1 and #2 respectively, and Animal Crossing's Isabel obviously deserves to next due to sales (without Pikachu foe obvious reasons), but it's interesting to see how fast Splatoon has grown to be in the top 4 with Inkling. Straight past Donkey Kong, Samuel, and Kirby.
@MrGawain
Ah yes, my favorite Nintendo character, Samuel.
@chapu2006 You can literally see the Pokemon Store from within the Nintendo Store, it's just in front of the store. Outside of the Super Mario x Pokemon merch, I doubt they will sell Pokemon merch at the Nintendo store regardless of how big the Pokemon franchise is.
@WhiteUmbrella 28,600 yen is just 7,150 yen times 4. It's the exact same price, but you get a stand and a box to go with it. So it's "technically" a little cheaper to buy the complete set.
@TsukiDeity Sorry, must've missed that, somehow.
@Tourtus I was lucky enough to visit Tokyo before the pandemic and Splatoon merch was way more prevalent than Zelda and, (weirdly) Animal Crossing. There was more Mario but the one with the most merch, who is very bizarrely missing from this line-up, was Kirby.
Wow, Nintendo really has gone full Disney, haven't they? That's an unimaginable sum of money for something that looks like an NFC-less Amiibo. $65 for basically an Amiibo that doesn't work? Can I get a Gold Mario with that?
@MrGawain @Aliteralturnip Is Samuel from MOTHER 3?
@Ogbert Kirby is too fat.
@contractcooker Including the comments complaining about the predictability of the comments!
@NEStalgia
No I think he just misspelt samus
FINALLY! This is the first GOOD statue I see of Twilight Princess' Link. He always looks kind of like an alien for whatever reason, the one featured in this article is GREAT.
God yes i want the inkling statue
@chapu2006 @Ogbert I've always considered Pokémon and Kirby to be second party franchises to Nintendo since they were made outside of Nintendo. Yes they're close to Nintendo and have long histories with Nintendo but they don't seem to be a part of it. Pokémon and Kirby don't cross over into other Nintendo franchises like Animal Crossing with furniture or Mario Kart with racers and that might be because Nintendo doesn't fully own them.
@Tourtus Splatoon is actually insanely popular in Japan ..Donkey Kong not so much. In the West DK is more popular I think tho.
@SoapMonkey I'm not denying Splatoon's popularity, I just think it's surprising Nintendo is embracing it so much.
@Tourtus yeah Pokemon is a complicated one! Kirby is not void of crossovers though, there was a lot of Kirby content for Streetpass on 3DS, he's in the NES remix games, he makes a cameo in Link's Awakening, there's a Kirby amiibo costume in Mario Kart 8, and a Kirby cameo in Mario Maker. Not to mention Kirby's random rock transformations often include things from other games such as Mario's Thwomps. I think you're right he is shared ownership, but it's not really held him back from Nintendo cameos and such.
@Ogbert Oh yeah Kirby and Kirby related things definitely make more cameo appearances than something like Pokémon. I really liked the cameo treasures in The Great Cave Offensive. However, Kirby cameos are somewhat uncommon. In Animal Crossing New Leaf there were furniture items for dormant franchises like Star Fox, F-Zero and Metroid but nothing for Kirby even though his franchise is way more active than those three combined. I think Nintendo still needs approval before they can use Kirby and the related characters in other games, it might just be something like a simple "yes" from Hal Laboratory. Probably much simpler than getting a character like Mega Man to appear in a game, I imagine characters like him involve complicated legal contracts.
@NEStalgia @Aliteralturnip
Autocorrect strikes again.
Expensive. Would like the Mario one, but oof.

JK, I'm aware there might be detail and size differences, but you got to admit people are so weird when it comes to pricing standards.
@chapu2006 Eh, the Pokémon Company has their own separate store.
Anyway, those look awfully nice.
@WhiteUmbrella Well yes, that's generally how set prices work.
@Tempestryke Typically, purchasing a larger amount of something or the complete set as one purchase rather than in individual pieces costs less. What colour is the sky where you are? Green?
