Nintendo Switch's range of fitness games are going from strength to strength, as Imagineer reveals that Fitness Boxing 2 has now surpassed 700,000 sales since launching last December.
The game hit the 500,000 copies milestone back in January, less than a month after it initially released, and while sales have understandably slowed since that post-holidays launch period, it's still performing very nicely indeed.
Nintendo's own Ring Fit Adventure unsurprisingly leads the way on the fitness front, generating a mighty 10.1 million sales to date, but Imagineer notes that Fitness Boxing 2 has been doing very well for itself, appearing in popular women's magazines and TV programs, as well as in games media.
The news comes alongside the reveal of the title's next update, which will take the game to Version 1.0.4. This update drops on 27th May and will add 'stage production settings' and 'adjustment of display objects during exercise'. The changes are being introduced based on player feedback.
Have you picked up either of the Fitness Boxing games? Have they been a good addition to your fitness routine? Let us know in the usual place.
Thanks to Greatsong for the tip!

Good news. Fitness Boxing 2 is a surprisingly tough workout for a game. Although the update details seem to be pretty vague, I’ll definitely try the new update out next week.
Day #155 straight.
Leave it to Nintendo to use the same style cover art as Sega.
I have the first fitness boxing and it's so good. I tried fitness boxing 2 demo but looks like the same. How many differences are there?
Really liked the 1st game, but since I heard the 2nd game is just similar I didn’t really bother with it. Maybe I should.
I’ve played the demos for Fitness Boxing 1 and 2 and they are really really fun. I want to get the full version of one or both of them
I have used it every day since I got it! Its a really good tool to do some exercise!
The first Fitness Boxing has sold 1 million copies.
Won't be long before Fitness Boxing 2 outsells it.
I'm glad Ring Fit has sold as well as it has. They put a lot of effort into both making it a really good workout AND making sure it's fun as a video game. It's top-shelf as far as this sort of software goes, and is a big step up from the cute but gimmicky Wii Fit games.
I've enjoyed my time with it and as someone who is into fitness, I can confirm that if you do it properly it will give you a decent workout. I prefer it over Ring Fit Adventure.
I ultimately enjoy Fitness Boxing more than Ring Fit adventure. The whole story, while fun and appreciated, becomes an obstacle in the routine, while the boxing game is to the point.
I am playing Fitness Boxing 2 in two player mode, adding weights and elastic bands in fun ways. It is a great home workout in a time when I'm still a bit paranoid about returning to the gym.
@Shiryu holy cow, congrats, I’m impressed 👏
Can I ask what changes and results you’ve had??
I play this 2-3 times per week, for about 40 mins each time. You get what you put into it, but I’m always a dripping sweaty mess when finished. Therefore, it works as advertised. I also throw in some push-ups and crunches in between boxing sessions to round it out a bit.
@Ks123 300+ straight days on Ring Fit Adventure produced better results in legs and abs as expected. This is one showing similar results to the 250+ straight day of the original. Its all about disciple, what you eat, how much you rest/sleep how much you walk outside your house per day. A combination of all 4 will make you look the business. But Ring Fit > Fitness Boxing 2 > Fitness Boxing. Mix and match at least 1 hour a day for visible results.
I'd love to give one of these games a shot, although - tbh - I never even heard of the boxing title before today, but I'm definitely kind of interested.
That said, I would probably be even more interested at a lower price.
Does this or Ring Fit ever go on sale (on the e-shop, anyway) - or are these the sort of games that Nintendo insists upon keeping at full price for-freaking-ever?
Love Fitness Boxing 2. Love Ring Fit Adventure too but Fitness Boxing 2 has really stuck around through covid thick and thin.
@BananaMetallurgica I had the original too, but version 2 adds a lot of quality of life improvements, better stretching routines, exercise tutorials, motion sensing, workout customizations, and adds "No Mercy" routines, and better rendered trainers. The original Fitness Boxing always seemed like a beta version. V2 is much more polished.
@Andy_Witmyer - I have seen the first and second Fitness Boxing go on sale. First, obviously, gets deeper discounts.
@Paraka Thanks! I'll add them to a watch list later tonight
@Andy_Witmyer Looks like Amazon US currently has Ring Fit Adventure for $10 less than what I paid. Not sure that you’d find it on the e-shop though, since you need the Ring-Con to play it.
@man_rob good. Thank you. I'll buy it on sale
@Synecdoche Good point about the latter! Thanks for the heads up
@BananaMetallurgica The models look very slightly better, the voice acting is a tinyyy bit better and the music selection is a tiny bit better but I think the best improvment from 1 to 2 is the music selection. Not a huge upgrade to me atleast.
I actually prefer this to ring fit adventure mainly due to the fact that I have a ruptured disc in my back so my bones rub together and it makes any movement where I have to bend hurt alot if its continuous and ring fit has alot more motions like that. Fitness boxing has doging down with an uppercut but thats actually easy to cheat on I just kinda bend my knees with a straight back and then uppercut. So yea I like this more than ring fit but its due to a special case
