Trying (in vain) to finally finish off The Impossible Lair, after a long hiatus! That final dungeon is still kicking my backside!
Other than that I've been chipping away at XBC: Torna (great game) and Burnout Paradise (good palette cleanser).

Got South Park: Stick of Truth in the sale and excited to finally start that one soon

@UglyCasanova It’s been patched up a fair bit and runs pretty solid now, at least in handheld. Had previously held off buying it myself on release due to those same reasons (performance and having played on PC).

Have you tried SRIII on Switch yet? It’s pretty good now, especially in handheld Definitely scratched that GTA itch I had after the disappointment of the Trilogy port.

Just got The Takeover and beat it with the Mrs in one sitting. Great game with really good, meaty combat and an interesting art style. Well worth the $5 price tag at the moment in the sale.

Will run through it again in a few weeks, me thinks

@dojmin I literally just bought that after cancelling this game on physical pre-order. really want this type of game on the go and Saints seems to run pretty well and look like a current-gen (Switch) game

@EriXz The Vita version is pretty great! The 2D art pops on the OLED. I bet it looks great on the new Switch OLED too!

Does this trial still require you to put in your credit card details? I always pay with eShop credit but last time I tried the trial it asked for my US credit card (i use the US eShop)…I’m in China and we all know how bare-bones their eShop is haha

How does the 3DS version compare to the Vita/PS versions? From that trailer it seems like they tailored it pretty well for the device!

@Clyde_Radcliffe Yeah I was watching a Bandicoot player earlier today on YouTube who was saying the same about 4 being brutal! Watched a snippet (as not to spoil that game) and it does look challenging! gulp …but oh-so pretty!

As others had said, this would make the NSO pricing more palatable, though the emulation of current N64 titles on the Switch could do with a few patches too. Having these classics at a (close-to) locked 30fps would be bliss!

@Clyde_Radcliffe I struggled with a lot of the end levels, still need to go back and finish Crash 1! Gave up and beat Crash 2 & 3 XD

Playing some arcade classics on the Capcom Arcade Collection, Ghosts and Goblins is kicking my ass! Also beginning the XBC2 expansion, Torna. Had been quietly craving some JRPG goodness and finally buckled

Grabbed a few games from the Capcom Arcade Stadium and it reminded me just how unforgiving arcade games were back in the day Progear is so good though!
Also playing through Quake (had no idea how big this game was!), and Doom 3’s expansion. Really wish Doom 3 had gyro…

Oh and I bought FIFA22, because I’m a mug and couldn’t stand the incorrect faces on the up-and-coming players from my copy of FIFA19 like Greenwood and Sancho. Managed to get the cart new for a steal, but still feel like I need a shower!

Bargain! Just installed it and grabbed SF2T and Progear. Will be keeping an eye in the comments for recommendations, as there's quite a variety available

Only got Piranha Plant since it was free but have been quietly tempted by Sephiroth, Min Min & Kazuya...the DLC is quite pricey, buying the 2 passes would equate to the full game price!

The shoddy online partly killed my interest in this game though, which is a shame, first party games like this NEED dedicated servers, not P2P...

Really depends on the surroundings for us. When the wife wants to join in, it's TV-mode if we're at home or portable if we're out of town (working in one city, living in another).
Though I do have extra-long bathroom breaks with FIFA, Quake or Deltarune, currently! And yes, I wash my hands!

@Nin_1151 Toy? The Switch has plenty of juice in it when devs take the extra effort to code for it. If you can lug your PC around with you or have it in the bog, then fair enough

Edit: Though playing PC for these types of text-heavy games is perhaps more ideal. Just didn't appreciate your 'toy' argument.

@120frames-please Thanks for the reply! Great, that's bumped it up my list! I can deal with some drops, just feels so good when playing racing arcade games at 60fps. Looks like a riot to play as well I think the Mrs will enjoy this one too!

@120frames-please How does it run? A solid 30fps? Would be amazing if it was 60fps, but not sure if that's the case. Always pining for 60fps in an arcade racer
The game does look awesomely OTT!

After playing through 1 & 2 on an overclocked Vita (locked 30fps and 544p) I was very hopeful this would be a stellar port, such a shame. Was really tempted to get this if only to experience the 3rd entry and revisit 1 & 2 again on a modern system sigh

How do these games get the green light to be released in this state?

Does that cover art remind anyone of another game, I think it's called 20XX or something like that? Speaking of that game cover art, it always looked janky to me, anatomy ain't right, but I digress.

The co-op option does sound intriguing, maybe one to get in a sale!

@Grandiajet Yeah, I bounced right off this series, it was just too stressful to play with friends, which is a shame as our group really enjoy these type of co-op games!

If there was a 'lite' mode, we'd jump right in again, as there was a lot to like about it, cute art style, team-work etc.

@TheJGG Yeah, the portability of the Switch lends itself well to the bite-sized levels of platformers like this. Excited to get another great Crash game on the Switch!

Still waiting for a good handheld rally game. This series on the Vita was hit and miss (mainly miss), and it seems to have followed that trend on the Switch. Hope to be pleasantly surprised

@Ventilator That's the mode! Yeah, it's still possible to die (I sure know it haha, had trouble against a dino in NG1), but it's a comfort

@Ventilator I think it was added to NG1 & 2 in the PS3/Vita collection It'll surely be in this new trilogy!

I recall a friend buying NG1 for the OG Xbox and telling me it's impossible, passed me the pad and I then proceeded to get pummeled by the first boss 😂 Over and over!

@Ventilator These versions had an extra difficulty setting, making it less brutal for those who enjoy the combat and story, but don't want to get destroyed every battle.

Great games and including NG3 has me tempted to buy them again, since I didn't have a WiiU to try that entry.

@wazlon You completed Crash 1? I found that frustratingly difficult later on! Completed 2 & 3 but still trying to muster up the courage to go back to 1 again and finish it

Great news to hear it'll run at full rez both in docked and handheld. Loved the N. Sane Trilogy, my only gripe were the slightly blurry visuals that knocked off some of the sheen.

My copy just arrived at the parcel station, super excited to play it with the Mrs tonight These games are just pure, distilled joy! Looking forward to spotting these nice little nods to SMB2 hidden in there.

Almost bought a WiiU for this game, so glad I was uncharacteristically patient.

Got to agree about the art style, feels a bit mixed. Character design and animations look nice, but then the shadows beneath the characters are just blobs...could be to make the overall image easier to read, perhaps?

SoR4 felt more like a cohesive art direction, but as mentioned in other posts, Dotemu are a talented bunch, will check out the demo before making a final judgement.

@Sabrewing SEGA going back to their legendary voice acting talents of old, like back with HotD 1-3. Still get a chuckle from those games

@Dpullam Have you tried Hotel Dusk on the DS? It's a fantastic story-driven game with a great cast of characters.

@realityxaidan I feel exactly the same way. Mario Kart or Arms with friends HAS to be on the TV.

Plus some games like XBC2 can be a bit muddled in handheld, so those exceptions need the big screen too.

Still got my Gameboy Colour, gold Zelda 3DS (which is a beaut), Vita 1000, N64, GameCube & Wii. Gutted I let go of my NES SP and PSP 1000, too young, too naïve XD

I do prefer 60fps for racers, but a rock solid 30fps, with some subtle use of motion blur can work wonders on a game like this.

@Moistnado I'm in mainland for work and quite a number of the internet providers have NAT type D, which means only downloading games works, online is a bust!

The only advice and can offer is either contact the internet provider to ask them to change the NAT to type A or B, or switch (excuse the pun) providers to one that works for some of your friends.

*Edit: I forgot to say, I did get it working in China by changing providers, so there is definitely hope for you and your Mario Kart

@AlienX One of my all-time favorite games, a hidden gem, of sorts. The rotoscoping animation is really cool in that game. Which reminds me, still need to play through the sequel someday..

Have 3 pairs of Joy-Con, all but one had drift issues, one had the SL & SR buttons and lights just randomly die. I have a grip to protect the Joy-Cons and I'd say I game quite lightly, not too often, but maybe an hour a night on MK8 with the Mrs and the odd games here and there.

I've still got original GC pads working perfectly, my Xbox 1 controller I use for PC gaming is still functioning with no issues after maybe 5 years use, not to mention my old Wiimotes still perfectly working. It's a manufacturing fault, even Nintendo finally admitted the issue in the end.

This Joy-Con character made me chuckle though, a nice little reference

Awesome news! Surprised by the amount of support they're giving these classics, especially considering the low price.

Now if only they were to add gyro-aiming to Doom 3

Love the style, but not a huge fan of the combat just yet.
