The pixel art and animations look great but, as mentioned already, the bloom is too much! My eyes would bleed after playing this! I wonder if there's an option to lower the effect...
@60frames-please I wouldn't hold my breath on a 60fps patch unless it's on another system in the future. Though 30fps is surely achievable, if they put extra effort into it
Looks a lot better now, but still disappointing how they released it in this state even after Q&A testing. Seems common to 'release now, fix later' these days, luckily we can research before handing over our hard-earned cash!
@Thunderbee Yeah, a proper first-party controller with analog triggers would be great. Maybe they could make the triggers switchable between a press and a trigger somehow for the best of both worlds? Perhaps they could make an 'Elite' style premium controller? Now that would be something!
Playing through Duke Nukem 3D! Only meant to give it a quick test, but gah, such a good game, and a cracking port!
For multiplayer we're jumping between Mario Kart 8, Arms and Smash. Been enjoying some Ninjala, though the combat feels a little hit and miss at the moment.
Tried it this morning and it seems the problems are resolved. Got into a few matches with no issues. Seems like a fun little game, perfect for quick bouts!
@Kalmaro Only takes probably 30-40mins to get to level 5. Battle Royale at least helps to get to grips with the game a bit
@kkslider5552000 I recall the multiplayer being a bit of fun. But yeah, the game looked great, but didn't blow me away back then either. Hope this is better!
That's a shame, loved XC2 but the blurry, fuzzy handheld visuals made me turn to the TV for clarity (Usually play 90% of the time in handheld). Apparently the expansion ran a lot better, so maybe it'll be closer to that...which reminds me, need to play that SOON!
@citizenerased Thanks! I really did like everything about the game, apart from the unexpected difficulty when playing with casual-gaming friends. I'll add this to the wish list then ~
@Rainbowjames Yeah, felt the same. Tried the first game out with some friends and our wives expecting a gentle start to the teamwork aspect. But it got real tough, real soon. We didn't play it together after that in fear of getting too annoyed at each other
Doom 64 is just fantastic! Glad to see it get some recognition. It plays a good, slightly more puzzle-orientated version of Doom, and looks great on the Switch's screen. A steal at the asking price!
@PALversusNTSC Thanks for the advice, though I tried that and unfortunately the mobile network NAT is strict and doesn't allow P2P. Even downloading from the eShop is unstable using hotspot. It's okay though, at least the PC works (mostly) for online gaming And the extra wait to download a game makes the excitement (and frustration) increase, haha!
@GUSWANG SAME! Took me almost a week to get Dragon's Dogma installed! When it got to near 60% it corrupted and started again..TWICE Almost lost my shizz!
Really hoping that now the Switch is in China, they provide better servers for mainland!
@8bitSquid Might just be my area then, it's hit and miss for me, my home internet and Unicom network have strict NAT settings that can't be changed, they seem to block P2P. Still got plenty of single-player goodness to get through though
Cheers though, glad to hear things outside of Hubei are finally returning to normal. I worry about my family in the UK though Hope everyone around the world will take this seriously and stay indoors, soon it'll pass ~
I wonder if Mario Kart 8 (and other Nintendo games) will finally work online in China. Not been able to connect to most NS P2P servers unless I drop by a Starbucks for their decent WiFi. Working in Wuhan, at the moment Starbucks isn't an option for the foreseeable future XD
@echoplex Yeah the multiplayer was good! Still pined for Goldeneye levels of greatness in a console FPS though, think I still do! Huddled around a friend's 15" TV, surprised we didn't all go blind!
@SecretAgentCat I was a short kid, so I exclusively used OddJob We didn't know at the time that his hitbox was much smaller than the rest of the characters, haha!
@Iacobus Yep, if any game needed one out of these releases, that'd be top of my list! A bit of frantic button-mashing in the face of a boss did add that extra dose of raging tension, though XD
@cyrus_zuo For Demon's Crest, there's a 'hover' button, which puts you at a height where you can shoot the dragon in the face. Took me a few deaths to realize that XD
30fps in a 3rd person game, with the motion blur to mask it, is acceptable. But 30fps in a 2D platformer? Come on now, that is a negative. 2D platforming is all about precise jumping and fluid control.
Imagine playing the likes of the Contra series in 30fps, it'd be hell! More so than it already is at 60fps!
@PhilKenSebben Ooooh, that's great to hear! I saw Digital Foundry's video on Ion Fury and they were showering it with praise! Not-so-patiently holding off for the Switch version of both these games, but quite tempted to jump in now on PC.
@Giygas_95 Tell me about it! Too many good games out now and coming out over the next few months! Just finished Xenoblade 2 (amazing, by the way) and looking at that 10hr long DQ demo...I shouldn't...I really shouldn't XD Still not finished Zelda...ugh!
It's a great time to be a gamer, but a terrible time to be a responsible adult!
@Giygas_95 It's a good time to be a classic FPS fan! Yeah I think Ion Fury will be coming out later this year on Switch, it's based on the Duke engine, but with some pretty enhancements. Exciting!! Dusk looks great too, though a bit more gritty, like Quake.
@Giygas_95 Fingers crossed we do get Doom 64, though I'm unsure if there are any licensing issues for that one, since it didn't already make it across with the others.
What do you think of Ion Fury? That game looks pretty awesome too! And I wouldn't say no to a Duke Nukem port on Switch
@Nico07 Ah fair enough, that's a good point! I didn't think about having to revalidate it and whatnot.
It is a sorry state of affairs, it's good to cut down on the plastic pollution and manufacturing of plastic, but it seems the consumer is the one who ends up suffering in the end.
I've got a potentially crazy idea for those who want a physical version. How about getting yourself a micro SD card, slapping the game on there and swapping that out when you want to play certain games?
It's nice to have the physical version, of course, I too like having a stack of shiny game cases on the shelf. But the cart is just a glorified SD card, in a way.
Maybe all the years of clever marketing have worked on many of us, and we feel this 'desire' to have the official case and cart in our hands, even if it costs us a lot more for the privilege!
@Kalmaro Gah, loved that game! Somehow completed it back in the day, but played it recently in the Sega Genesis collection and got my ass handed to me on the 2nd level XD Crazy difficult, but still looks great!
@Jin15 Wholeheartedly agree! Had Doom 3 back when it released in 2004 and it melted my PC, now we can play it in the palm of our hands, amazing times. Cracking game too, still pretty scary to play!
Dedicated servers would be a start. Watched Alex trying out the Smash update the other day and he lagged quite a lot.
Sure, we could say excuses like "I'm on WIFI" etc, but the Switch doesn't even have an ethernet port, so it was intended to be played wireless by design.
Love the Switch, and the support has been great, but please could you put a little of that sweet Online profit back into a proper server infrastructure, Nintendo?

Re: Rumour: New Switch Model Launching Early 2021, According To Taiwanese Newspaper
Maybe they could market it as the New Nintendo-George Foreman Switch. Fry your morning eggs on it, whilst playing a bit of Mario Kart 8 in 4K

@KIRO I recall that they did review it not long ago, gave it an 8, I think NL sure were impressed!

Re: Online Retailer Lists Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit For Nintendo Switch
@Thunderbee Agreed! Have you got any Gamecube controllers knocking around? It's not ideal, but the triggers on the GC pads are pretty good, imo.

Re: Urban Trial Tricky Freestyles Exclusively Onto Switch Later This Month
Feels like a cleaner-looking game compared to the muddy visual-noise from their previous Trials Playground game on Switch.
The price is right, but will wait to see how it reviews

Re: Random: Well, This Animal Crossing 'Polly Pocket' Toy Is Just Adorable
Very creative and nice attention to the smaller details. A labour of love ~
Oh, this reminds me of a Star Trek phaser gun one I had, it opened up into the Enterprise main deck

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 2nd)
Streets of Rage 4 and Mario Maker 2 are keeping me busy!
Loving some of the Worlds people have created in MM2, it's like I'm playing an unlimited number of full Mario games!!
Re: Community: Tried Super Mario Maker 2's World Maker Yet? Share Your Codes Here
@shadownin64 Thanks, I'll be playing your world over the weekend, then
Re: Community: Tried Super Mario Maker 2's World Maker Yet? Share Your Codes Here
@brunojenso Awesome, thanks for sharing! Hoping there can be a place where well-made, consistent Worlds can be shared.
Death trap and auto levels can be fun sometimes, but there seems to be a lack of classic-style Mario levels with fair difficulty.

Re: Beyond Enemy Lines Returns For More Call Of Duty-Style FPS Action On Switch
@SecretAgentCat Haha that's a genius solution! Bravo!
We would all screencheat, it was a chaotic free-for-all with that game. Ah, good times, good times!
Re: Beyond Enemy Lines Returns For More Call Of Duty-Style FPS Action On Switch

@echoplex I think you're right! That snow level was pretty memorable in that game, must have been an early level
Re: Puma Launches Its Tetris-Themed Collection
That's pretty poor implementation of Tetris. Just think of the design possibilities for the two brands to collide. Uninspired.

@Dizzy_Boy Thanks for the reply! Hmm, I'm very tempted now
Re: Warner Bros. Hosts Huge Switch eShop Sale, Up To 60% Off 12 Top Games (North America)
@Dizzy_Boy I really wanted to get this game when the port was announced...did they ever patch the horrid frame drops and long loading times?
Re: Poll: So, Which SNES Games Have You Been Playing On Nintendo Switch?
@NotTelevision Yeah, the music in the game really sticks in your head! It appears that a lot of love went into making it.

Re: Poll: So, Which SNES Games Have You Been Playing On Nintendo Switch?
Demon's Crest is such a gem! How had this game flown under the radar all this time?
Had a Megadrive growing up, so a fair few of these games are completely new to me and will be getting some love!
