@nhSnork I’m still trying to figure out which Xenoblade I want to start back up with. I’ve gotten halfway through the original so many times and just stop playing for something else. I’ve been thinking about starting Xenoblade X because it’s more of a standalone from what I’ve read.
My wife was playing a mobile game the other day called My Little Universe that looked like a relaxing collectathon. Who knew that the Switch had an upgraded version of the game? So much fun!
I’m playing Dungeons of Hinterberg on Steam Deck (which really needs to come over to Switch because it’s GotY material). Like a Zelda/Prince of Persia hybrid that appeals to anyone who loves those style games and also romping around European mountains, towns, and villages.
@mattesdude that’s a good point, I played a few games like that growing up too. And when you play mainly that, you start memorizing the challenges which help make it a little easier over time
@silver-crescent agreed about Dicefolk! I haven’t beaten the main game yet but I’ve earned lots of monsties and improvements from getting far and losing boss battles.
I liked what little I played of Moonstone Island but it’s tough to play in handheld mode, the text and sprites are very small.
Dicefolk is absolutely brilliant, I haven’t enjoyed an eshop game this much in awhile. The gameplay loop is utterly addictive, great battle system, wonderful soundtrack, and beautiful graphics. Agreed with your 9/10 score NL!
How is Star Wars: Hunters, has anyone else played it? I’m on the fence, but it looks enjoyable.
I took a long enough break after beating TotK to finally go back and try Breath of the Wild. So far, I like it much better. Feels like the more traditional Zelda experience of the two with a more beautiful open world. I’m also playing Dicefolk after reading NL’s glowing review. They’re spot on, this game rocks!
I’m on a huge NSO kick this week after replaying Super Mario Land. Such an underrated game and very unique to the franchise. I’m replaying LoZ: The Minish Cap, one of my favorites in the series and Kirby on GBA.
Restarting Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker because it’s an amazing game and I haven’t finished the main game or additional DLC. When will we get a sequel??
Also playing more Endless Ocean: Luminous. It’s such a chill game to sit back and relax with.
It’s a really enjoyable game that seems to be getting the short end of the stick. If you’re into laidback and chill gaming, this is an ideal entry to experience.
The episode with Wade’s family dinner is where things really start to get weird. Knuckles feels like a side character at an awkward dinner table, which given the action driven moments of the first two episodes makes no sense at all. Definitely a bit of a letdown compared to the fun, fast paced Sonic films.
What is a good entry level SaGa game on Switch that’s not too punishing with difficulty level? I’ve been wanting to try the series, but I’ve read that some of them are insanely tough which is off putting.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Just hit the 400 hour mark, this game is unbelievably amazing. The original AC on GameCube was one of my most played games growing up and I love each of these entries similarly in their own right. What are some other great Switch simulation games that are this mellow and addictive? Or other AC games? I have a few other ones but haven’t played them yet.
@KayFiOS wow, Dreamlight Valley is that good? I’m not a huge Disney enthusiast anymore, but still love the classic stuff. Huge AC fan and it sounds like this makes some fun improvements.
Terra Memoria, a lovely little turn based RPG that released this week out of nowhere on Switch. Very laidback and whimsical, fun characters/battle system/exploration/questing. Really cool graphics that remind me of Grandia/2D-HD and the soundtrack is wonderful. Such a gem so far!
@Jhena is it best to play the Xenoblade games in order? I’ve replayed the original so many times but never finished it. It’s an amazing game but feels a little long winded.
@Manguy888A agreed! Minish Cap is top notch Zelda, one of the best in the franchise. After being hooked on Link’s Awakening and Oracle of Seasons, I was worried this would have proved to be lesser fun when it released. Not only was I wrong, but it proved to be one of the most unique and memorable games in the series. Glad you enjoyed it!
Mario vs. Donkey Kong - at the end of the 7th world and it’s great for quick play segments. I still wish it was more addictive like Mario DK on DS, but maybe we will see a remake of those games as well.
Eastward: Octopia - postgame fun, working to obtain all recipes and having fun with fish trophies and remaining quests. This game/DLC is as much an underrated gem as Littlewood was, and I really dig that. Loved the game ending too. Makes me want to go back and play through the original.
Froggie: a Retro Platformer - retro fun in spurts, some levels require multiple retries but with there being 100 levels in total that’s half the fun
Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu are better than the originals and I loved the changed battle mechanics for wild Pokemon. Really hoping to see Let’s Go Gold and Silver
Something Pokémon related. It’s been pretty quiet since SV became one of the most loved/disliked generations in the franchise. Hoping for new Let’s Go titles since Eevee/Pikachu are better than the originals, or Arceus 2 would be amazing.
Sounds wonderful! I have it preordered. I’m starting to agree with fans about difficulty levels though. I remember being challenged more by older Nintendo titles. If they want to craft simpler, fun experiences that’s fine but they should add difficulty levels for enthusiasts.
Eastward: Octopia and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Octopia is still very enjoyable and I really hope the developer plans on creating a sequel to this. Mario vs. Donkey Kong is relaxing, low key fun though I can’t help but compare it to Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem on DS, which I just beat a few weeks ago. Very different games, but Mini-Land was fairly challenging and had a bit more charm to it.
Wow, I’m surprised at the 7 score. I just played Mario vs. DK on the DS for the first time last month and it was wonderful. Really looking forward to this, even if the difficulty isn’t as pressing. The DS game lacked difficulty too, unless you plan on 100% collecting everything in each level.
Absolutely hooked on Eastward: Octopia. I’ve never played the original, but after reading the glowing review for Octopia on here I had to buy it. One of the best, most charming farm sims on Switch.
Haven’t played this series since one of the PSP games. I thought it was too dialogue heavy with a clunky battle system, so this looks great in comparison.
Baten Kaitos has been a blast to start replaying. Still one of my favorite games in the genre and one of the most beautiful games ever made. Thrilled that these were remastered. The look and play great, and I’m happy with the lack of VO’s. That was my least favorite aspect of the original games.

I've never played Denpa Men before but the new game was getting some hype on GameFAQs so I downloaded it. It's awesome! So much fun.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition?
NES Remix Switch should have been this.

@Vriess I replayed it again this week after a long time and it’s still so wonderful. Such an underrated Mario game

@Manaman awesome recommendations, thanks so much!! The series looks great, I just wanted something more moderately challenging to start with.

Terra Memoria, close to beating the game but have lots of quests to work on still. Really fun, laidback RPG that deserves some credit.

@KayFiOS thanks for the feedback, looking forward to checking it out!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th March)
@TheExile285 is it a good game for someone who doesn’t play many SRPGs? I have my few favorites, but wasn’t sure what the gameplay for this was like.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th March)
@Novamii I’ll admit that is fun, but it’s an odd game that doesn’t seem to have a place within the Mario universe. So far I’d give it a 7.5/10.

@ScalenePowers I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t beaten Galaxy 1 or 2, but what I’ve played of the first one was incredible!

@HeftyLaces what is it about Balatro that makes it so addictive? I read the review and it looks fun, but I’m just curious.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 2nd)
Pokémon Cafe Remix. Took me awhile to try this one, it’s pure laidback fun. Lots of microtransactions, but I’m enjoying the free content.
