Didn't BotW and TotK beat out all other Zelda/Nintendo games in the rankings list last week? I'm more in alignment with that for the best, at least with BotW. Absolutely brilliant.
I love Kirby, but I never got into the original and this doesn't interest me too much more. I'm going to wait for reviews and see if it's worth picking up.
@demacho I wasn't planning on buying the game based on the trailers and previews. The idea of it being entirely inside of a city, as opposed to the beautiful sprawling landscapes in Arceus, didn't appeal to me at all. When Z-A released I read some really positive reviews and it was enough to make me want it. Glad I didn't judge the book by its cover too much
@Crecca no worries at all! Here's what I said if it shows up in the comment: I totally understand that opinion. Oddly enough, I wasn't a fan of the 3DS Pokemon era very much. Didn't like the transition to 3D, the worlds and environments paled in comparison, etc. X/Y was fun, nothing groundbreaking though. ORAS was the only Pokemon game that I couldn't wait to be done with. Sun was a vibrant entry, but the islands were repetitive and they could have put more effort into the environments and story. I'm not saying that the Switch era comes close to the brilliance of the original GB/GBC/GBA era, but the games I mentioned I put in my absolute favorites.
Should Pokemon be more evolved (pun intended) at this point on a system like Switch/Switch 2? Sure, but the Legends games have been great at pushing the boundaries on the series. The main line series is where serious improvements need to be made. And even then, the games are still plenty fun. They give fans that feeling of getting lost inside the world of Pokemon and at the core of the series, that's what it's all about. But again, I agree that with the next generation they really need to pull out all the stops.

@DollyrotsFan1 Nice list! I still need to play New Pokemon Snap. I picked up a copy and never really got into it. I would agree with the rest, but would swap out SV for Let's Go Eevee. Absolutely love that remake and found the updated Pokemon Go catching system to be so addictive. I loved Violet originally too, but I did the first playthrough in handheld mode. I tried again recently to start over and play it on the TV, but was a little distracted by the graphics/performance. Would like to get back into it after Z-A
@DollyrotsFan1 I hope the rumors are true! So far I'm 15 hours in and there's just so much to do. I'm taking my time with the Z-A tournament and am doing all the side quests, Pokemon research, item collectathoning, etc.
Hot take - Sword/Shield, Legends Arceus, and Legends Z-A are the best on the Switch. I know that certainly doesn't hold true for everyone, but all of them are top tier Pokemon games in the franchise. Violet was surprisingly fun, but so rough around the edges. It could have been a masterpiece if there was a little more prep put into it.
@DollyrotsFan1 it comes out in a few months, I believe. You can see the DLC on the eshop already. If the rumors are true, it sounds like it'll almost be an entirely new game. The big rumor is that it will take place in an alternate universe of Lumiose City, transforming the city and environments. Which would be amazing!
Easily a 9/10, one of the best Pokemon experiences in a long time. 1 point off because the city could have been fleshed out a bit more, although the environments are quite beautiful. Say what you will about Legends: Z-A, but the gameplay loop is brilliant. Can't wait to see what's in store for the DLC.
When they said that the entire game took place inside of a city (one that looks dull and uninspired in visuals), it felt like GF once again did not listen to their fans. Remember older RPGs that couldn't handle graphics/player movement inside buildings and towns so instead interactions were all menu based? I feel like that's what they did here. 'Hey, did you love the sprawling landscapes and vistas in Arceus? Well we want to goad you into thinking Z-A is the same thing, but clearly we didn't put in that same effort.'
Thanks for the review and confirming that unfortunately once again Pokemon isn't heading into a promising new direction that we're all hoping for. Such a shame, what happened to this company?
I thought the first movie was an absolute blast. Video game adaptations are nearly impossible to please all fans, but that movie did plenty of justice. Can't wait for the sequel!
I feel like modern Square tries too hard with newer franchises and entries, this seems to follow that trend. It looks like a beautiful game, but the battle system and world traversal seem hit or miss. I'll skip this one for now and play other games in the backlog.
1. Solatorobo: The Red Hunter 2. Rune Factory 3 3. DBZ: Attack of the Saiyans/Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED (counting the Monolith Soft vote as one since they're both brilliant) 4. Zelda: Spirit Tracks 5. Master of the Monster Lair/My World, My Way (counting both together since MWMY is the sequel and both are incredibly underrated DS RPGs)
@mikegamer if they’re going for a remake full 3D would have been much better or even a 2D HD style that didn’t blur out so much of the environment around it.
Not a fan of the HD-2D aesthetic. Square relies on it way too much and as a result, they’ve not created a masterpiece in a long time. Miss the old Square, miss the old Dragon Quest.
HD-2D laziness aside, it’s a shame that there’s also performance issues.
@obijuankanoobie not much at all, the biggest thing performance wise for me was the money from enemies either getting stuck or taking a few seconds to record in the wallet. Other than that, it was fine
Not a huge fan of the rankings on this list, but hey, it's Zelda and most fans disagree on the series rankings.
Minish Cap, Echoes of Wisdom, Oracle of Seasons, Wind Waker, and Spirit Tracks should be much higher. Each one encapsulates the series in its utmost brilliance.
@k8sMum agreed. It plays just fine (nothing game breaking or too much a nuisance to not enjoy the game) and is one heck of an indie release. So enjoyable that I'm looking forward to playing it through a second time.
@AnonyQ agreed, it depends on the game I guess. Many 30fps complaints I've read for games are hardly noticeable, or at least they're not a hindrance to enjoying the games.
@DripDropCop146 I've been having a blast with it. Very nostalgic and reminds me of video gaming when I was a kid. Really enjoyable adventure and a perfect lead in to Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom next week.
Wow, very surprised you ran into so many technical issues on Switch. I’m on Chapter 4 and there’s hardly been any noticeable lag, only some longer loading when pages flip in the book. Easily an 8.5/10 so far, it’s such a unique and charming game.
I'm a huge fan of grindy RPGs, but ones that offer up some changes in scenery. I have this preordered and am still excited for it. One of my favorite games from the DS days was Master of the Monster Lair and that was extremely repetitive in both gameplay and environments, yet I absolutely loved it. Let's hope this one is a similar type gem of a game!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Not that this has anything to do with Z-A, but my main gripe with Pokemon is that we never got a Conquest 2. What a game that was.

Leaf Green is amazing, I love that game!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom?
So far it's a 10/10. Best Zelda game since Wii U.
Re: Review: Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (Switch) - A Lick Of Paint Works Wonders
Missed this one on the Wii, can't wait for the Rebrush!
Re: Review: The Plucky Squire (Switch) - Enormously Charming, But Not So Plucky On Switch
@the_beaver 5 chapters in and it plays great, some occasional minor loading slowdowns but nothing crazy.

Re: Review: The Plucky Squire (Switch) - Enormously Charming, But Not So Plucky On Switch
Artia is one of the best towns in any adventure/RPG to date, so at least we have that squared away.
Re: Review: The Plucky Squire (Switch) - Enormously Charming, But Not So Plucky On Switch
@SalvorHardin the dialogue is a big part of the charm though. Fans of ARPGs/RPGs/Adventure games shouldn't be too surprised.
Re: Review: The Plucky Squire (Switch) - Enormously Charming, But Not So Plucky On Switch
@Vivianeat the Chapter 4 boss gave me a run for my money. Took me a few attempts to carve out a strategy using the bow. Nice bit of challenge!

Is it a new story or do all of the additions come post game too? I'm debating whether or not to wait for the DLC to start a new file.
Re: Review: Elrentaros Wanderings (Switch) - Hints Of Rune Factory's Charm, But Such A Drudge
@Bobb agreed, the cons aren't a deal breaker. Repetitive when done right is plenty of fun, especially with dungeon exploring RPGs.
Re: Review: Elrentaros Wanderings (Switch) - Hints Of Rune Factory's Charm, But Such A Drudge
I'm a huge fan of grindy RPGs, but ones that offer up some changes in scenery. I have this preordered and am still excited for it. Re: Review: The New Denpa Men (Switch) - A Simple, Goofy RPG With The Usual F2P Irritations
I'd give it at least a 7-7.5, but good review. It's a fun grindfest if you don't want to dish out any cash. The game doesn't require transactions.
Re: Random: The New Denpa Men Is Getting Roasted For Its Translation Issues
@LEGEND_MARIOID I haven't played any of the previous games and I'm having a blast with it. Haven't spend a dime on it either
Re: Random: The New Denpa Men Is Getting Roasted For Its Translation Issues
@GamingFan4Lyf exactly brings some lighthearted fun to what's already present in the game
Re: Random: The New Denpa Men Is Getting Roasted For Its Translation Issues
The translation issues are not that bad. Funny, if anything. The game is charming and loads of fun, which is what really counts.
Re: The New Denpa Men Surpasses 100,000 Downloads In One Day
I'm surprised there's no New Denpa Men review on here already
Re: The New Denpa Men Surpasses 100,000 Downloads In One Day
Are the older games as fun as this? I think I downloaded one of them on 3DS awhile ago when it was on sale, but never played it.
