@-wc- I've written a lot about Earthbound lately and I'm trying not to repeat too many of my points π But you're right, the music is awesome. And catchy. I will have it in my head forever.
@NerdyBoutKirby y'know, I had an inkling it might be old (and that someone would call me out for it!) But sometimes it's the end of a work week, and it's Friday, and you want to just write something quick and fun βΊοΈ
@SuperCharr I'm playing DQB2 as well! It's a lot more piecemeal than Minecraft β so far I've played probably at least 20 hours and I'm still in the same farming village because they have SO MANY REQUESTS. Also, they keep destroying my hard work to build a bigger tree, which now takes up the entire village
@ViewtifulJohtun oh goodness, Blood and Wine is maybe the MOST gorgeous part of The Witcher 3. Maybe I should replay, since I never finished Hearts of Stone...
@Solomon_Rambling I actually didn't mention it in the article, but we would occasionally all pick the alternative ANGRY EGG voice pack for extra-chaotic multiplayer
@JasmineDragon it's pretty good! Honestly the way some people talk about it, I thought it was going to be a movie all about punching, but it's much more nuanced and clever than that.
@JasmineDragon I've been sick this weekend so I blew through the first two stages as the Silent - I love her! As Teksetter put it, it's a really fun "death by a thousand cuts" approach that I like because it feels oddly stealthy? Get in a few poison jabs here and there and then just wait βΊοΈ
@RR529 I used to have to trawl through old Xbox mags from the 2000s as part of my job, so believe me when I say that calling a pixellated Zelda "sexy" is extreeeemely tame compared to the stuff they got away with later on. I mean, the back few pages of OXM used to be adverts for phone sex lines π¬
@Rosalinho British game mag dialect is its own weird thing, too. Calling Nintendo "Ninty" and Shigeru Miyamoto "Shigsy" like he's a footballer are still ingrained in my memory, plus random magazines words like "brill" - and I was only in British game mag writing in like, 2015. I did not talk like that in real life!
@Kiwi_Unlimited it varies! Sometimes they come to me perfectly formed in a flash of inspiration, and sometimes I have to mull it over for HOURS (and ask for help from all the other writers). This one isn't one of my best, but it's alright!
Thanks for the recs, everyone (I don't want to tag you all so I hope you see this!)
I've already played most of the games that were recommended β Tunic's brilliant; Gorogoa, Paper Mario, Captain Toad, and LEGO Star Wars are all very good, but not quite the meaty-life-sim thing I'm looking for; and I finished Short Hike and Littlewood already!
However, I gave up on DQ11 not that far in, so maybe that's what I go back to. I've also been told that Dragon Quest Builders is good... Oh, and I need to play Superliminal. I've owned it for AGES at this point π
@FishyS everyone told me that programming was a lot like Latin, which I did at university β it's a very logical, mathematical language that's all about slotting things into the right places, and making sure all the endings agree with one another. I don't think programming is anything like it, though!!
I understand that it's sad to see Smash Bros and Mario Odyssey get binned, but this would have been an incredibly boring list if we'd all picked the first party Nintendo games π
I'm glad we chose a mixture of blockbusters and weird indies, since that's what the Switch is all about!

@TotalHenshin yes!! I still haven't Slayed The Spire (i.e. the end boss) but I've made it all the way with all three keys once!

@Flint nah, people were wearing shoulder pads in the 90s (I was there). We don't just automatically change fashions because it's a new decade!

@Yorumi we ended up settling on "hacker" because this title was REALLY hard to keep short AND make it interesting π

Re: Chrono Trigger Gets Ultrawide 21:9 PC Release Before It Gets A Nintendo Switch Release
@mwatcher hmm, you may have a point there, I didn't consider that it could be read like "it's getting this, THEN a Switch remake"!
It's meant to read as "I can't believe it's getting this before it gets a Switch remake". I may tweak it to clear things up!
