@Pirate1 We talked about so many things that a TL;DR would be extremely hard, buuuut... basically, we think the game is interesting, the demo didn't quite show off WHY it's interesting (because the demo cuts off too early on some of the chapters) and the current trend of cult remakes is a really cool direction for games to be going in.

@Gitface They were extremely helpful with the bugs I experienced during the review period, and ironed them out in no time, so I have faith that it'll be much more robust at launch

@chardir The CYOA series is, as far as I know, very litigious about people misusing the name. BUT I think it's the best descriptor of this particular genre of books, and I wasn't about to go into loads of detail about that in a review

@Rambler I think it's an adaptation — there are some things in the game that only a game could do.

Ah, these comments have reminded me of another good reason that we use easy points of comparison when talking about games: because no one actually reads the article

@CANOEberry both. It's both. I'm intrigued to see how Western philosophy and absurdist comedy translates into Japanese, but then again, I do not speak Japanese, so I have no way of knowing. And I'm fairly sure there's a lot of wordplay, which is ridiculously hard to translate. It's quite the job!

@KoiTenchi They aren't ranked, so Calico being second doesn't mean much!

But also — most of the games in here are either highly-scored, or VERY cat. There were some in-betweens that were averagely scored or not very cat, so they didn't make it. It's a very complicated equation that balances the cat quota with the score quota.

@IronMan30 I watched it with friends, and MULTIPLE times I would start saying that a game looked interesting... before it instantly became another shooter that looked like all the others
