I heard claims that it's really hard to get insurance at a good price if you don't have an employer providing it and indie devs don't tend to have big insurance deals.
It's not a problem with modding, the update code is just sh*t. The modders actually have a better update code because they analyzed Nintendo's code and found it too buggy to use. I'd rather wait for a modded updater that doesn't have those flaws.
I'm not going to install that, I need the HBC for my import games. I wouldn't be bothering with that if Nintendo hadn't added the anti-consumer measure of region locking but since they did and given how the PAL market gets treated I think I can summarize this as GO TO HELL, NOE!
Meh, it'll just be a matter of time until an update for the homebrew that doesn't get deleted is installed, anyway.
Woohoo, didn't expect we'd ever see that game! Plus DSiWare is always useful as it reduces the number of carts I have to carry to get a decent library moving.
Konami vs Capcom. Konami seems very willing to do crossovers and parodies plus they've got a huge list of recognizable videogame characters. Bill Rizer (ultimate finisher move: up up down down left right left right B A) vs Super Joe? Simon Belmont vs Dante? Mega Man vs Moai head? Hell yeah!
Yet almost all the Transformers would be giant robots which makes Apocalypse and Onslaught look tiny.
Meanwhile people complain that Nintendo never does anything new anymore... I'd rather have them surprise us with new things than rehash the old ones and be bound to ancient conventions.
God damn! Why can't Nintendo of America do stuff like this instead of just standing there and saying "Well duh, we have 2 games coming out for the Wii!"
Eh, the last list was one big bunch of broken promises, you're just as well off not getting a list.
Seriously, get Contra Rebirth its own image, it isn't Contra 4 and that's a good thing IMO.
Of course My Aquarium will eventually be above Contra in the charts. It's selling FOREVER. Any game that has a sales slowdown will drop below My Aquarium eventually. Most likely it's the most successful WiiWare game and yet it will never be hailed as a classic.
Germany: (2) 1 Contra Rebirth (1) 2 Tales of Monkey Island 1 (3) 3 My Aquarium (4) 4 Family Slot Car Racing (5) 5 Texas Hold'em Poker (9) 6 Onslaught (8) 7 TV Show King (6) 8 My Pokemon Ranch (7) 9 Driift Mania (11) 10 FFCC Darklord (12) 11 Bomberman Blast (10) 12 World of Goo (17) 13 Brain Challenge (15) 14 Fun Fun Minigolf (13) 15 Arkanoid Plus (14) 16 Tetris Party (18) 17 Bonsai Barber (19) 18 NyxQuest (16) 19 Water Warfare (-) 20 Texas Hold'em Tournament

Contra makes Tales fight like a cow. I wonder whether Contra really is the hardcore game that it gets called all the time since it's really one of the simplest games on the Wii (run, shoot, jump) and vastly more accessible than previous Contra games plus allowing two player local coop which should make it a party hit.
Another resurgence for Onslaught. I wonder what causes all these boosts? Meanwhile Water Warfare is dropping...
The list doesn't include Magnetis which the Nintendo Channel lists for Friday so it's not complete (as if we didn't already know that THE LIST IS A LIE)
Nintendo could save all the hassle by just making all those games free anyway, to everyone (as they said they were going to be back in the day anyway), and then advertising this amazing fact on a couple of tv and cinema ads and on the box of the console itself etc.
Yes they could also save a lot of hassle by letting people just grab Wiis out of their warehouses without charging money.
Realistically the number of people who can reach the 20 helped count is extremely small, with the 500 point bounty everybody's going to hunt for people to help so you have to be fast to get in first, especially in 20 separate cases. It looks to me like a distant reward that motivates people but almost noone will ever reach.
Giving the games for free to everyone would undermine the whole point of getting all those people online in first place, to get them to buy more games!
There is no failure – you're jumping off a cliff, how could you fail that?
Hitting a solid surface and breaking all your bones?
Generally it sounds similar to AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard For Gravity except much simpler and less intense. In Aaaaa! there are scoring plates but your main source of points is to stay near the buildings while you BASE jump so there's a lot more scoring flexibility.
Why do you keep using the Contra 4 box art for Contra Rebirth? Rebirth deserves better!
Germany: (1) 1 Tales of Monkey Island 1 (-) 2 Contra Rebirth (3) 3 My Aquarium (2) 4 Family Slot Car Racing (7) 5 Texas Hold'em Poker (6) 6 My Pokemon Ranch (5) 7 Driift Mania (8) 8 TV Show King (11) 9 Onslaught (10) 10 World of Goo (9) 11 FFCC Darklord (13) 12 Bomberman Blast (4) 13 Arkanoid Plus (14) 14 Tetris Party (17) 15 Fun Fun Minigolf (15) 16 Water Warfare (20) 17 Brain Challenge (16) 18 Bonsai Barber (18) 19 NyxQuest (-) 20 Mr. Driller W
Put on a bus: Texas Hold'em Tournament (12), Bit Trip Core (19)
Monkey Island holds on, didn't know the series was that popular but I guess there's a reason Lucas Arts recently re-released their old games at retail. Contra joins high as expected from a hardcore game, as always it's the follow-up performance that will be important. Maybe it's more newbie-friendly design can make it a hit with the expanded audience as it's not a very complex game, just hard. Arkanoid's stay near the top was short, I guess the expanded audience just doesn't like breakout as much anymore. Overall a lot of shuffling.
Considering the Megaman in this game is from Legends who knows where Zero will be taken from? MMZ would still be the less fringe version, the way this is going we could almost expect one of the models from Megaman ZX...
Or shudder Battle Network? That has a Zero, right?
I don't think My Zoo has a chance at being as popular as My Aquarium, actively interacting with animals is quite a different thing from having an aquarium you can put on your TV to enhance the atmosphere of your living room.
Also I could've sworn I've seen talk about Miami Law being released in the US already...
I doubt Capcom is in this to make money or they would have had a much bigger focus on the Wii (where the biggest userbase along with the smaller dev costs are).
The DS game costs several times as much and the individual levels are much less fun.
I appreciate the reduction in complexity, is the dual weapon jump really useful anyway? I found that focused fire tends to have more of an effect. The smart bombs weren't in C4 either I think, they're not necessary either way.
Hard Corps is what the name says: HARD. I'm not sure how it compares since I never even got past the first level but AFAIK it's regarded as a pretty good game outside of the absurdly high difficulty (the japanese version even let you take three hits before dying and was still hard, in the US version that was removed and one hit killed you!). Each of the selectable characters (including a cyborg wolf with a minigun arm!) had a different weapon selection and there was a secret ending you get by fighting a robotic Simon Belmont.
I don't know why you think you should get a refund, If I go to GameStop buy a game for $30, then next week, it goes on sale for $20, I can't get refunded $10.
Because it held the price only one day or even less. When Ms dropped the XBox's price from the initial ridiculous 480€ they gave everyone who paid that much an apology package.
How hard is Contra on the easy mode? Will it still be stress-inducingly difficult?
I'm playing it on medium, it's decently hard, not as much as Contra 4 though and overall feels more fair, it's easier to get used to the game and master a part to progress but of course it won't just roll over and hand you victory on a silver platter (though you can set the starting lives up to 7 so maybe the option is there). Continues set you back to the last checkpoint so it's not a Metal Slug-style infinite credit cakewalk either. I think the game shouldn't be easier otherwise it'd lose the whole point of mastering areas to survive them and just become a colorful firework.
Does it make use of the Contra/Konami code?
Haven't found a use for it yet but who knows, may just need to be entered in another place.
Germany: (1) 1 Tales of Monkey Island 1 (2) 2 Family Slot Car Racing (3) 3 My Aquarium (12) 4 Arkanoid Plus (4) 5 Driift Mania (5) 6 My Pokemon Ranch (-) 7 Texas Hold'em Poker (7) 8 TV Show King (8) 9 FFCC Darklord (10) 10 World of Goo (11) 11 Onslaught (6) 12 Texas Hold'em Tournament (14) 13 Bomberman Blast (15) 14 Tetris Party (17) 15 Water Warfare (9) 16 Bonsai Barber (13) 17 Fun Fun Minigolf (16) 18 NyxQuest (-) 19 Bit Trip Core (18) 20 Brain Challenge
Buried at a crossroad: 3-2-1 Rattle Battle (19), Swords & Soldiers (20)
Arkanoid made a lot of ground. TH Poker replaces TH Tournament. Another massive drop for Bonsai Barber. Core finally charts.
Yay but how are they going to combine regular movement and combat with the brush? Having the player switch between the buttons and touchscreen doesn't work very well...

If you mean that in Last Ninja 1 you cycle through items using the virtual keyboard, yes, that's fixed, in 2 you use the minus and plus buttons.
You can use the classic controller's buttons for that in 1 BTW.

So Pop Island was fun to play? The trailers got pretty confusing so I'm sure many people were worried about that.

I wouldn't save my points for something that's been coming "soon" for that long, for all we know it's like Duke Nukem Forever.
