Looks like a really meh update, only one WiiWare and it's bad. I have absolutely no interest in SSB considering I just got Brawl. I'd trade SSB for Eduardo no matter how Eduardo turns out because I have no need for an obsolete version of a fighting game.
I doubt it's related to Rupeeland, they had a completely different backstory for Tingle there (or just a completely different Tingle), in MM he dressed like that because he thought he was a Kokiri but in Rupeeland he's put into the outfit to make profits. In MM he's more creepy and immature, in Rupeeland he strikes me more as vicious (look at his evil laughter whenever he makes a good deal) and somewhat gullible (come on, the whole beginning of the story sounds like a nigerian scam!).
Well, I was thinking Elements of Destruction (there's an XBLA game and a DS game of that name but while they have a similar plot they play completely different)
I don't care , they didn't even announce software for it, not even something I'd have no interest in. Hardware is an enabler for software and without software it's just a paperweight. Same goes for MS and Sony's motion control clones, no software = no care.
I'm not surprised, should we also call this shovelware?
Shovelware means it was made with zero care and insufficient time merely to exploit the theme of the game, this seems like a game made with love and care but just went wrong.
I think VCA games will be priced depending on their era, the first batch was pretty much NES era but Space Harrier is more comparable to MD games. Wouldn't make sense to charge 500 points for games that are equivalent to SNES titles (or 800 for 8 bit ones). I doubt the prices in Japan are indicative of anything.
Before NOMNOM I was using Code for my DSiWare quiet puzzle needs since it has a puzzle mode too, also with a goal move score (but AFAIK Code's goals were the minimum number of turns you could use to solve it, NOMNOM gives you some leeway with the target being a good bit over the minimum number).
Hm, looks kinda confusing but then again it's probably one of those games where you only develop a sense of what's where when you play it.
Lots pretty decent. But anyone even heard of their previous game "Glory Day II"?
Yeah, it's a sidescrolling RTS and flight combat game, you fly air support missions while spending money on ground units that always move towards the enemy base, you get money by occupying bunkers with infantry (can even airdrop them), you can earn superweapon uses by bombing enemy units, etc. It's a lot of fun but fairly multiplayer focussed (two teams with up to 6 players each, supporting bots) and the only way to play that is multi-cart local multiplayer, since the game was fairly niche I doubt many people managed to get a round of it going. I think many people were also unwilling to pay retail for a game that's fairly simple. The first Glory Days was called Super Army War in the US.
I still think GD2 could have been bigger with more feasible multiplayer (preferrably online though singlecart would also have helped). It would probably get a lot of exposure if it were released on something like WiiWare, especially since it could also allow you to click on unit production buttons while still maneuvering your plane or chopper, on the DS you pretty much have to let go of the vehicle controls to use the production palette.
The last time I brought it up one commenter here said he knew Olivier Denis personally (apparently "ODenis Studio" is a one man company)...
I like Nemrem since I found a game where I have to think to solve the puzzles while not having to remain at a high adrenaline level pretty useful for relaxing. Quite a few of the music tracks are plain unpleasant though, e.g. the second one has long bleeps that are about as pleasant as microphone feedback.
Art Style Nomnom is pretty good IMO, kinda like a Rubik's Cube. The description promises relaxing music but at least some of the worlds have music that'd be better described as nerve grating, sounding almost like microphone feedback and crap like that.
Bang Bang Kids (800pts.) -- the deathmatch game for everyone where you use water pistols rather than the lead-flinging variety -- courtesy of Hudson Soft.
I hope that means Water Warfare (the western name for it) will come out soon then. NoE claimed it'd appear between April and June. Kinda strange that its first release is in Japan since the genre is not popular over there and AFAIK Onslaught got released everywhere else first.
(1) 1 Swords & Soldiers (2) 2 My Aquarium (3) 3 Texas Hold'Em Tournament (4) 4 World of Goo (5) 5 Onslaught (6) 6 Fun Fun Minigolf (7) 7 TV Show King (8) 8 My Pokemon Ranch (9) 9 Brain Challenge (10) 10 Tetris Party (11) 11 Bomberman Blast (13) 12 Equilibrio (15) 13 Snowboard Riot (19) 14 Defend Your Castle (18) 15 Pop-Up Pirate (-) 16 Crystal Defenders R2 (12) 17 Bit Trip Beat (16) 18 FFCCMLAAK (-) 19 Bubble Bobble Plus (17) 20 Crystal Defenders R1
Wow, the whole top 10 (and 11) are unchanged from last week, Swords & Soldiers isn't moving from the top spot. Hey, That's My Fish failed to rank, Bubble Bobble Plus is back with a vengeance as Rainbow Islands dropped from 14 off the charts. Adventure Island made room for CD R2 and the biggest dropper that still remained in the charts was Bit Trip Beat.
Despite all these premises and the small price point of only 500 Wii Points, Niki – Rock 'n' Ball was almost instantly dismissed by most magazines and gamers alike. Maybe it is because we always leave the video game industry's beaten path and instead add something new and fresh.
If you want to call combining precision platforming with zero air control "off the beaten path", sure. I just call it "a terrible idea that fortunately died out when Super Mario Bros came along".
I find their idea of going for SuperFX nostalgia questionable, I don't think many people played SuperFX games because they liked flat shaded polygons. Old 3D games didn't age very well and I'm pretty damn sure 99% of gamers appreciate the advances in graphics we had since those early days where a cube counted as cutting edge.
Germany: (-) 1 Swords & Soldiers (2) 2 My Aquarium (1) 3 Texas Hold'em Tournament (3) 4 World of Goo (5) 5 Onslaught (7) 6 Fun Fun Minigolf (6) 7 TV Show King (9) 8 My Pokemon Ranch (13) 9 Brain Challenge (10) 10 Tetris Party (11) 11 Bomberman Blast (4) 12 Bit Trip Beat (8) 13 Equilibrio (-) 14 Rainbow Islands Towering Adventure (15) 15 Snowboard Riot (19) 16 FFCCMLaaK (12) 17 Crystal Defenders R1 (17) 18 Pop-Up Pirate (20) 19 Defend Your Castle (14) 20 Adventure Island The Beginning
Exit: Bubble Bobble Plus (18), LostWinds (16) Wow, a LOT of movement this time. Swords and Soldiers races straight to the first spot, let's see how long that'll last. Rainbow Islands also managed to make a belated entry after not showing at all last week. The biggest dropper was Bit Trip Beat though Adventure Island, Equilibrio and Crystal Defenders also lost a lot of ground. My Aquarium even overtakes poker this week. Brain Challenge got a strange boost too.
I'm not sure I'd count the zen master as a "strong" unit, he's only 20 gold more than the rocket dude. The Aztec necromancer costs MORE than the zen master.

The only one I might buy is Kubos, pretty bad update.
EU release list state:
released: 2/12

Re: Classic Controller Pro Heading West?
I want it, the standard CC's lack of grips makes using the analog sticks unpleasant.
Re: Konami Confirms Zephyr: Rise Of The Elements For WiiWare
Well, I was thinking Elements of Destruction (there's an XBLA game and a DS game of that name but while they have a similar plot they play completely different)
Re: Nintendo Download: 2 June 2009 (Japan)
I wonder what the reason for that was... A last minute bug or some content improvements?
Re: Pop Island Game Play Video
Huh? The video I see is the same one as before, should there be a different one?

Re: E3 2009: Nintendo's Announcements
Aw, no Dynamic Slash. Some guy at Go Nintendo claimed it was confirmed for the US but it seemed he was joking and now I'll have to kill him.
Re: Golden Sun Coming to DS
I got really angry at where Golden Sun ended...
Re: E3 2009: Nintendo's Announcements
Well, a lot of that stuff was known beforehand so there were few surprises...
Re: Nintendo Download: Flip Champs, Final Fantasy IV, Boulder Dash (US)
Well, Europe will probably end up with FF but I hope the other game will be Water Warfare. Or at least I hope that there will be a second WW game.
Re: Nintendo Download: Flip Champs, Final Fantasy IV, Boulder Dash (US)
I wonder if Texas Hold'em will displace World of Goo in the US as it did here...
Re: E3: New Wii Mario Game In The Works?
Noone knows what kind of Mario game this'll be, most likely it's one of the spinoffs.

How does that look like voxels?

The SNES Picross is an import title.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2 June 2009 (Japan)
Shame they had to "water it down" with squirt guns
They said in an interview that their company policy doesn't allow graphic violence between player avatars. Nintendo didn't interfere there.
Re: Texas Hold'em Tournament Gets Patched For Europe
No chance? It went straight to #1 on most European charts.
Re: Nintendo Download: Space Harrier Arcade, Fish'em All and Art Style: NEMREM (EU)
If they want to keep to the list they have to release 3 games on two of the Fridays provided they don't release ANY other games.

This is one of those games I'd have to see a review for first.
Re: Review: Pop Superstar: Road to Celebrity (DSiWare)
I guess it's nice for those who care about music games.
Re: Nintendo Download: Crystal Defenders R2, Penguins & Friends, PiCOPiCT and Pop Superstar
Dunno, I don't really mind.
Re: Capcom Looking To Port More Games To Wii?
The RE4 engine is a GAMECUBE engine, and the Wii can surely do A LOT better than that!
The differences between the Wii and GC don't matter at the engine level.

The colors just don't match Dynamic Slash, the blurry pic is too reddish. Unless they gave it a complete redesign, of course, but I doubt that.
