Re: Pachter: Wii U Will Sell Between 30 to 50 Million Units During Its Lifetime

Jukilum

@fishwilson A Monopoly is never a good thing (and that includes the boardgame.) Aside from no competition creating a lack of innovation, it also allows a company to charge whatever they want for their product because there are no other options to choose from. Not only that, but monopolies are illegal, at least in the US which is one of the largest console markets. Playstation and Xbox merging wouldn't actually be a monopoly though as long as there are other consoles from Nintendo.

Re: Minecraft is Just As Likely To Appear on Wii U as Any Other Platform

Jukilum

"With the Wii U GamePad you would think the system would be perfect for Minecraft; it's now certainly more likely than it was a few days ago."

Actually, no. It is not any more likely than a few days ago if the prospect of a Wii U version wasn't something Jens was involved with in the first place. The likelihood is exactly the same.

Re: Miyamoto: Mobile Competition Actually Helps Wii U

Jukilum

What they should have done to give the gamepad full advantage over tablets: multitouch.

What they should have done to make it the "one place you go to access all of your entertainment: among other thing: Blu-ray playback among other things. I don't personally feel that the Wii U should neccisarily be a Blu-ray player, but to say it's the one place you'll go for all of your entertainment, there really would need to be a way to watch movies you own aside from just Amazon Prime (or navigating to a video on your computer via the browser.)

Re: Liberation Maiden Takes Flight to iOS

Jukilum

@Zemus-DJ There are tons of games on iOS that are designed with the hardware in mind and control woderfully with the best not using virtual joysticks or buttons.

@47drift There are also tons of games ported from other hardware that have controls adapted for touch screens. Virtual buttons only litter the screen in the worst of ports.

"So far Liberation Maiden has been spotted on the New Zealand store, but it's starting to make its way around the regions; a simple search also shows that it's now on Italy's iTunes"
That is how every release on the AppStore works. New apps come out at midnight in each region starting with New Zealand.

Re: Miyamoto Discusses Retirement In Recent Interview

Jukilum

@DarkKirby I agree 100% about Sticker Star, but I recall reading an interview where Miyamoto said he wasn't sure why people thought he hated DKC as he had actually closely collaborated with Rare on it, or something along those lines.

And he suggested turning Dinosaur Planet into Star Fox, so your argument about him wanting his characters used only as originally intended doesn't really hold water. And he was the one who stopped Square from giving Mario a sword in SMRPG and suggested a hammer instead, so clearly he hasn't had a negative influence on all Mario RPG games.

Re: 3DS Stays on Top in Japan, but Wii U Falls Behind Vita

@rjejr " I personally can't see listing something as "upcoming" if it doesn't even have a date yet."

Unless the game gets cancelled I don't see what else you'd call it. If it isn't already out then by definition the only other option is "upcoming."

Also, "Super Wonderful Edition." LOL

Re: First Impressions: LEGO City Undercover

Jukilum

"It's not the first open-world LEGO title..." No, it most definitely is not. The first LEGO video game, LEGO Island, for PC was open world, and that was in 1997, which I believe was before the 3D GTAs. LEGO got there first.
