Re: Nintendo Stock Rises By 11%

Jukilum

@ULTRA-64 Video Games aren't Sony's only source of income. They also have a large line of televisions, publish music, they have a movie studio, etc. They have a lot to fall back on.

@ninja89 A possibility for that occurance is that investors were unimpressed by the PS4 and concluded that Nintendo was a better investment. I have no idea if it's true, but it's a possibility.

Investors seem to be, as a whole, a fickle bunch. For example, after Apple reported record sales for the iPhone 5 their share price dropped signifigantly because despite record profits, they did not sell as many iPhone 5s as analysts predicted.

Re: Disney's Planes Jetting Onto All Nintendo Platforms This Year

Jukilum

@Henmii Yes I'm sure that Pixar's upcoming projects including "The Good Dinosaur," a movie that takes place on an Earth where dinosaurs never went extinct, "The Inside Out," a movie about what happens inside a young girl's brain, and The Untitled Pixar Movie about Dia De Los Muertos" will be completely uninnovative and derivative. /sarcasm

And Pixar isn't responsible for Planes.

Re: Disney's Planes Jetting Onto All Nintendo Platforms The Year

@lividd3ad Actually, when a movie starts out as a direct-to-DVD release and is changed to a theatrical release, that generally means that there is a ton of faith in the movie. The same thing happened with Toy Story 2.

Regarding your most recent statement: fair enough. I enjoyed it though. More than Brave which, while still being a very good movie, had a lot of humor that felt more like an older Dreamworks movie.

Re: LucasArts Shut Down By Disney

Jukilum

The best LucasArts games in the recent past were the Monkey Island remakes. I don't understand the anger towards Disney in this situation. When was the last time LucasArts released a great Star Wars game that was developed internally? Most of the best ones were made by third parties which is what Disney has just announced will be how all of the future LucasArts games will be. The days of LucasArts Point and Click games is long gone. I personally don't see this as a great loss for the industry.

Re: Miyamoto Teases the Possibility of a Real "Nintendo Land" in the Future

Jukilum

He said a real life theme park was a possibility when asked about it, I wouldn't exactly call that "teasing the possibility".

@rjejr

There are five LEGOLAND parks, LEGOLAND Billund, LEGOLAND Windsor, LEGOLAND Germany, LEGOLAND California and another one somewhere else in the US, I can't remember where, and that's not counting all of the LEGOLAND. Discovery Centers.

Re: Video: This Is The Star Fox Movie We Want Hollywood To Make

Jukilum

That really wasn't very impressive. It was pretty boring. Nothing really happened. Space ships flying around is one of the easiest things to do in computer animation and that was pretty much 95% of the short. If Pixar teamed up with Nintendo to make a Star Fox movie (which they wouldn't because Pixar works exclusively with their own original IP) I would not want the guys who made this involved. Was there even a story in there?

Re: Remake Request: Captain Blood

"Many would argue that with the advent of indie publishing on digital services such as iTunes, Xbox Live Arcade and — of course — the Wii U eShop, we’re about to enter another period of similar excitement, with game designers unafraid to produce totally off-the-wall experiences."

It already happened a few years ago on the AppStore/iTunes.

Re: Guide: Transferring Your Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Save Data

Jukilum

@AhabSpampurse It is needlessly complicated and seemingly risky. I can (grudgingly) accept some peoples' opinion of "Nintendo didn't have to do anything" when it comes to things like lame Club Nintendo rewards, but when this is an advertised featured of a rather expensive purchase ($100 in the US when you buy both versions) then they are obligated to provide a decent service.

Re: SteamWorld Dig Is Burrowing Its Way To The 3DS eShop This Year

Jukilum

"not another 3D effect showcase nor a cheap port; we’re making an Actual Game".
Are they suggesting that there have been a lot of games that fall into those categories? I can probably think of many games in the cheap port category, but I can't think of many I would classify as being just a 3D effects showcase.

Re: Nintendo Responds To Guilty Verdict In 3D Patent Case

Jukilum

@neumaus But that specific patent is what was in question, so if Nintendo didn't use it I can't see how they could be guilty. Nevertheless, it is true that I don't know all of the details. I believe I may have the resources to find out though; my grandpa is a lawyer.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th March 2013 (North America)

Jukilum

@ohhaime They're in this weeks update because they all come out before next Thursday, so while they won't technically be out this week if they were in next weeks update they would already have been out for at least a day.

This does create a problem for the polls though. Since it is asking what we're downloading first I'll be marking "Just freebies for me" because I'll be downloading the Harmoknight demo today, but I'll still probably get PunchOut when it comes out later so just freebies is inaccurate. Especially since I vote that way almost every single time there's a demo I want regardless of whether I'm also buying something because I almost always download the free thing first because I have to take an extra step, i.e. adding funds before I download a paid item.

Re: Review: LEGO City: Undercover (Wii U)

Jukilum

"…The LEGO Company cut its teeth on its non-licensed playsets. From fantasy wonderlands to more ordinary examples, the building bricks were an ever-popular force with children and big kids alike long before LEGO Star Wars rolled along."

It's a bit trivial, but actually there is no such thing as The LEGO Company as a proper noun. It's The LEGO Group. Also, as more of an aside, Before the bricks were popular before licensed themes were popular, LEGO made wooden toys, the most famous being a duck pull-toy. They made wooden toys until their factory burned down. And then until it burned down again if I recall correctly. At this point they invested in a plastic injection molding machine and created the first plastic bricks. The early bricks didn't stick together very well and broke easily, until the invention of the modern automatic binding brick! Then around a decade ago their patent expired and every building toy company that wasn't already ripping them off practically abandoned their unique products in favor of imitation LEGO bricks (I'm looking at you, K'nex. You used to have your own thing!)

I'm definitely getting this game. I pre-ordered it the same day as my Wii U.

By the way, does the game have multiple save slots at least for seperate accounts on the same system like Scribblenauts Unlimited, Or are save files shared like in NSMBU or Nintendo Land?

Re: Pixelscopic Hopes To Bring The Zelda-Inspired Delver's Drop To A Nintendo System

Jukilum

@LDXD @Melkaticox
Point taken. I personally am not against Kickstarter. The vitriol against Knux seems a little much though.

On another note, this game doesn't look that great to me. The competetive mode sounds appealing though.

I have supported a Kickstarter game project, but I would be reluctant to do so on another. The developers kept delaying the game until they eventually just said that they aren't going to announce any more release dates and just release it when it is done. That's the problem for me. Once you've supported something, there is no guarantee it will be delivered in a reasonable amount of time.
