Re: Consumers Go Crazy For Wii U Following Xbox One Reveal

Jukilum

I have a Wii U, I love it, and I expect It to do well in the long run. Regardless, selling about 3 times as much as it was still isn't much. It only gains significance when you consider that Nintendo didn't do anything (that we know of) to boost sales. It also suggests to me that regardless of what the average Internet commenter thinks, the average consumer probably does consider the Wii U next gen.

Side note: I consider Wii U current gen along with Xbox One and PS4 because when the Wii U was released it started the newest generation of consoles.

Re: Review: Star Wars Episode I: Racer (Nintendo 64)

Jukilum

There actually was a sequel to this game for the PS2. It's not as good, but it is still fun.

I don't think that EA has the rights to all past Star Wars games, just for making new console games. Disney reserved the rights for mobile and social Star Wars games for their internal studios.

Re: Nintendo Claiming Ad Revenue On YouTube User-Generated Gameplay Videos

Jukilum

To the people saying that making a Let's Play is hard work—having read all of the comments here so far I have seen nothing that convinces me of that. An hour or so editing a video after playing the game is not a signifigant amount of time. That is nothing compared to the amount of time it takes to create an original video from scratch let alone editing one.

Re: LEGO Friends Coming to 3DS and DS

There are actually many female character disguises in LEGO City Undercover.

These figures are actually compatible with other LEGO things. I'm not a fan of them, but at least their hair fits on regular minifigs.

Re: Rumour: Tomodachi Collection: New Life Update to Remove Same-Sex Marriage

@theblackdragon You make a good point that my claim can not be backed up at this point by solid evidence. By the same token however, neither can the opposing view which so many people claim is backed up by scientific evidence.
@k8sMum The whole "the founding fathers were deists" thing is a relatively new interpretation. There's the quote where they said they were "led by providence"--while these days providence means luck it used to mean God. One of the founding fathers said that the constitution was written for a religious people.

I also agree with and support pretty much everything @TrueWiiMaster has said.

@C7_ :"Two people who have nothing to do with you getting married by both of their legal consent under the laws in which we allow marriage does not ruin lives any more than normal marriage would."

That's not strictly true. Children are most happy and successful when they grow up in a family with two married parents, one male and one female.

Re: Delta Six Gun Controller Starts A Kickstarter Campaign

@Schprocket "Just to add some perspective, nobody has problems using the WiiMote in Skyward Sword and yet you could far easier fashoin a realistic looking blade-controller for that (and similar) stabby-games. I'll bet you'll find stabbings are more prevalent in the world than gun-shot deaths."

I don't hear about many sword related deaths happening these days. If it was common I think people would have a problem with it.

Re: Review: BearShark (3DS eShop)

Jukilum

@Yellowgerbil The other problem with those ratings is that you have to play the game for at least an hour before you can rate it. So if someone dislikes a game so much that they couldn't bring themself to play that long they can't let others know. It's probably better to have this system then letting you rate something without even booting it up, but it still has problems.

Re: Nyan Cat, Keyboard Cat Meme Creators Suing Over Appearance in Scribblenauts

Jukilum

@evanescent_hero Actually, "the cake is a lie" is written on the wall in one of Ratman's dens in the first Portal game.

The Nyancat guy has a good case because the character is original. Keyboardcat, maybe. I think that the lawsuit rests on the use of Nyancat.

And something that nobody seems to be grasping is that a copyright comes into existence the moment the work in question is created. Registering a copyright makes it easier to defend, but you can still defend your copyright provided that you can prove that your work existed before it was used by someone else.
Trademarks on the other hand become invalid if it moves from being a Proper noun to just a noun in public use. For example, Kleenex, shopvac, and even dumpster all used to be registered trademarks. All of those names became are now used to refer to anything that is in that same roduct category. However, when someone refers to Nyancat they don't mean A Nyancat, they mean THE Nyancat. I'm not sure about Keyboardcat. It does seem though like that would be something you could trademark, but I'm not so sure about copyright unless it was that SPECIFIC picture/video. I'm also unsure of if Trademark comes comes into existence the moment something is made. I don't think it does.

Re: Check Out This Comparison Between The New 3DS Zelda And Link To The Past

Jukilum

People have been begging for a new top-down Zelda game for years (as if somehow PH and ST weren't) and now people are saying they don't want to pay full price for a retail size game?

I would also like to note that the footage shown is from an in development game and is liable to change. It says so right in front of the downloadable trailer on the eShop.
