Giana Sisters: Twisted Dream is a platformer developed by Black Forest Games and has been out on PC since October last year. A console release is imminent with a PSN and Xbox Live Arcade version on the cards as of right now.
However, the developer has confirmed on its Facebook page that Giana Sisters: Twisted Dream will be coming to the Wii U eShop as well. Speaking in the comments section of a recent update on the upcoming release, Black Forest Games said:
Wii U is also planned, one step at a time!
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dream came to be through a Kickstarter campaign where it comfortably achieved its goal of $150,000. The series dates back to 1987 when The Great Giana Sisters was released on multiple platforms including the Amiga and Commodore 64. That game got into a bit of trouble with Nintendo due to it seemingly ripping off Super Mario Bros. in several areas; the issue was resolved without any legal action, though.
This won't be the first time the sisters have made it onto a Nintendo console - Giana Sisters DS was released on the handheld a few years back. There's no release date set for this new iteration, it may come out alongside the other console versions or it may emerge later.
What are your thoughts on Giana Sisters: Twisted Dream making it over to Wii U? Will you be downloading it? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'll pick it up. Never did find a copy of Giana Sisters DS, and still wish we could get a port of the original.
Ah yes, the Giana Sisters. I read about them in an issue of Retro
"The Brothers Are Through!" was their motto...
I've never been a huge fan of this game....the C64 orginal was decidedly average and Giana Sisters DS was far too easy (despite one or two tricky levels) and had barely any variety....it had excellent music though, maybe some of the best I've heard on the DS.
I barely ever use my laptop (or PCs in general) for gaming so this has passed me by...I'm still interested to see how it is as I've played the earlier versions. I'll just wait until it hits consoles though.
@Five-seveN That's not the game, obviously >_>

Has anyone actually seen the trailer for this game? I have. All I can say is TAKE MY MONEY!
Machinae Supremacy did part of the soundtrack for this game, it's amazing.
Became so glad when i heard the news, really wanted to play this game.
Good news, this game looks very nice.
Have this on steam and it gets real tough real fast, or at least that's how I'm finding it.
I'm glad to see this coming because it also means there's a good chance the Turrican game will come out to the Wii U as well!
Also, the DS game is excellent.
100% completed on Steam, great game. Definitely one to look forward to if you haven't played it.
Great! I liked the DS game.
Oh this good news indeed!! Keep the indie platformers coming, Dan!
This game is amazing, I have it on PC, similar to Trine 2!
I actually sent an email to Black Forest Games a few months ago asking about the eShop version. No one replied though. Their studio is not far from where I used to live in Germany. Looking forward to seeing it in wii u.
@Pixelroy Actually I did that, too, except I asked them on one of their Youtube videos...they didn't answered >_>
Guess they didn't because nothing was announced back theeeen...?
I loved the one on ds,definitely picking this up when I have the money
It looks fantastic graphically and gameplay-wise. The gameplay-trailer kinda reminds me of DKCR and it mostly got great reviews. I say bring it on.
I love the DS version of GS and would love to see a 3DS game, but this looks so good!
That looks pretty great.
I guess there is nothing wrong with getting more games on Wii U. I'm not sure if I'd get it though. I'll check some videos out when the time comes.
I wanted to get the Ds game, but I couldn't find it. I think I will pick this one up.
@Dpullam, there's already videos of the gameplay on youtube from the PC version
Saw the trailer posted above. I love the way the background gets all deadly and gloomy when you're the blonde Giana and happy and lively when you're the punk Giana.
When Sonic went third-party, it was more notable because of his more known rivalry with Mario, but even the Giana Sisters appearing on the same console as Mario is sweet to me. And the fact - as I suppose that screenshot in the above comment proves - that the series is going for a level design different than that of its main source of inspiration means this time the sisters can get a bit of spotlight as well. I wish for this rebirth to have a good effect on the franchise.
The Giana Sisters are still alive huh? Hehe, I think it'd be funny to see them in Super Smash, just to be able to have a Brothers vs Sisters fight. (I know they won't be there and there are other characters I'd rather have anyway, I'm just sayin'~)
As for this game, I'll most definetely pick it up. I actually enjoyed the original back then (mostly due to its similarities with Mario), and the DS game as well. Just hope Maria returns in this one. The DS game was really just Giana DS, since there was no sister anywhere to be seen.
Giana sisters DS was great fun, so I am interested in this!
i think its time for giana sisters to move over to the wii u love this game as i stil ave it on my amiga 1200 so much fu to play
I used to play the C64 version at my neighbours way back when i was a snotty nosed grub, it was alot of fun. Definetly interested in this. It would be sweet to see the sisters turn up in the next Smash Bros, even as DLC.
One of my favourite C64 games, the DS version was good as well. But this new GS game looks great. Very likely a day one Wii U download for me.
DO WANT! I'll be getting this the very instant it's available on the eShop!
ill buy this day one
@SteveW Except lacking Trine's fun.
Looks really nice, can't wait to see it come to Wii U
Seen the gameplay trailer, loved it.

Although despite the later games - as I stated before - thankfully dropped the shoehorned Mario mechanics, this game somehow seems to have an oppressive tone at times. Kind of like, you know, Kingdom Hearts Chain Of Memories compared to the first game or the second. But the shift from Smurf-esque backgrounds to Tim Burton Land is just too amazing to look at.
I only ever saw ONE copy of Giana Sisters DS...and I bought it on the spot.
I've been eying this on Steam for a little while, but I wasn't sure if my computer could handle it...PSN version for me!
Saw the trailer: yeah it looks pretty nice!
an instant buy for me! =)
I was so hoping it would make it to Wii U! Definitely going to get it there rather than on PC.
