I haven't had a single problem with my joy-con - and I've tried playing my Switch from the next room, with a wall interfering and the controller behind my back, so I'm guessing if that didn't make the connection stutter, normal play shouldn't, either. But perhaps I've just been lucky with the unit I got.
I was thinking of buying it day-one, but now I've reconsidered - there's no way I'm paying £40 (the same price I paid for Zelda BotW, which is going to keep me busy for months!) for a game that is only 10 hours long. Will wait for a sale, or buy a preowned physical copy later in the year. Very disappointed though, charging more than on other platforms for no real reason is definitely not what I would call good business practice.
@Iggy-Koopa, I preordered it near launch, and just prepaid for it the other day - I had brought a bunch of games and my old phone to trade-in, and since I could put the credit towards the Switch, they let me pay the rest off on the spot (it only ended up being £40 in the end, which I'm really happy about). So I just have to pop in around midnight tonight, pick the bag up, and go.
I honestly can't wait to get my hands on my Switch! I have already pre-paid for it at my local GAME the other day, and will pick it up at the midnight launch event tomorrow - along with Zelda, of course. So hyped!
I always wanted to try this, but ended up never getting it for one reason or another...I'll definitely pick this up on Switch, although I might wait for a price drop first - £44.99 is a little too much for a port of a game that's almost 4 years old.
It's a pity, since it seems to be an important feature for a lot of people, but I personally don't care - when I buy a console, it's for new games; VC is just a nice, very secondary thing for me. Although I can't say I wouldn't be happy to see GC games available, along with a larger library of GBA titles.
Can't wait! It's going to be Zelda BotW and I Am Setsuna (if it's not too expensive) for me on launch day, then Snipperclips and Snake Pass when they release later in the month. I don't have much time for gaming these days - writing my dissertation kinda saps most of my life away - but I can definitely see myself giving up more than a few hours of sleep to play these in bed on my new Switch!
Personally, it doesn't bother me - it's not like it's a paywall for on-disc DLC, the content has not been developed yet and will be released several months after the game releases. And there seems to already be a standard "hard mode" in the game, the DLC adds an extra layer of difficulty on top of that, so Nintendo is not locking any base features behind the season pass. I am all for paid DLC as long as it's worthwile (see Mario Kart 8 and Fantasy Life for examples of awesome extra content), so I'll probably pick it up, though I might wait for full details before I do so.
I will probably pick this up at some point, but I might wait for a price drop first - it's not like I'll have any time to play it around launch anyway, what with Zelda and I am Setsuna on day one!
I preordered a grey Switch in-store at my local GAME (I have a bunch of old games and tech to trade in, so it should work out at quite a good price) and Zelda BotW on Amazon, plus the essentials kit and a pro controller on the Nintendo store. I'll also pick up I Am Setsuna and Fast RMX close to launch, and perhaps Super Bomberman too (though not at its current £49.99 Amazon price). Can't wait for March 3rd!
To be honest, I'm very interested in a lot of these third-parties - I'll definitely be picking up I Am Setsuna, Rime, Monster & Wonder Boy and Disgaea 5, not to mention Yooka-Laylee, Stardew Valley, Lego City: Undercover, and Rayman Legends (so many great games to play, so little time!).
The lack of so-called AAA titles does not bother me in the least, since they don't really interest me; I'd take a wonderful-looking RPG like Zelda: BotW or I Am Setsuna any day over the bug-ridden, samey AC and CoD which are released every year on PS4 and Xbone. If I have to be honest, I don't understand why so many people seem to only consider those major yearly franchises as proper 3rd party support, dismissing indies and Japanese-based studios as unimportant (particularly since people who want to play AC, CoD, Fifa and the like probably own another machine that can play them by now anyway). I personally can't wait to play new Nintendo games and plenty of indies and RPGs on my Switch on the go - I have a feeling I'll end up loving this console even more than my 3DS! 😁
I was actually afraid I would not be able to watch the live presentation, since I have my last exam of this term on the 12th, but this fixes the issue. Looks like I'll be setting the alarm (and the coffee maker) for 4am!
It's a pity, but I can't blame them for deciding not to waste time and resources on trying to fix the issues on the WiiU version when the console is (sadly) on its last legs. Come January, I'll probably just upgrade my pledge to the Switch version - unless it comes out much later, in which case I'll get it for the Xbox One. It's going to be an amazing game regardless of the platform.
I think this is mostly PR talk - like what was said about the Gameboy brand continuing after the DS first came out. With the Switch aiming to cover both the home and handheld markets, I can't see Nintendo using resources to keep the 3DS alive (unless the switch fails, but I doubt that it will with all the buzz it's generating). At most, they might keep the 2DS on as a console aimed at young children, since not many parents would spend £250 or more on a hybrid console for a 5-year-old.
Personally, the lack of a second screen does not bother me too much. It was a nice feature, but in the end it was only indispensable for a very limited few WiiU and 3DS games; most only used the lower screen for maps/inventories, which could have just as easily been accessed through a pause menu or something similar. That said, I'd be kinda disappointed if there were no touch screen - though that's unlikely, as it has been a major feature of on-the-go gaming since the DS came out.
I can't wait for this to come out, I have absolutely loved the first one! Hopefully this time it won't take six extra months for it to come to the UK, though...come on, Nintendo, give us a EU release date, too!
I'm not too bothered by the delay, since I was going to wait for the NX version to come out anyway, but I can't believe that they won't show the console at E3...Such a waste; they could have shown off the concept for the console and a few major launch games and gotten some hype and media attention. But nope; now they probably will announce everything in Nintendo Directs...
Personally, I'm hoping for a direct within the next two weeks; it's been a full three months since the last one, and they have plenty of content to cover imo:
1. Miitomo & My Nintendo account system
2. Star Fox delay rumours
3. launch trailers/more details for Pokken Tournament/Zelda TP HD/ Hyrule Warriors Legends
4. new Smash/Splatoon amiibo
5. new trailer for Zelda U (unlikely, I know, but a girl can dream...)
6. possible VC announcements (Mother 3, anyone?)
7. FE Fates/Bravely Second release dates for EU and NA respectively
8. some unannounced games releasing in Q2-Q3, since we hardly know of any
Also, considering that the Pokemon OR/AS games were announced in a Nintendo Direct last year, a possible announcement for the next Pokemon game may be in the cards - which makes me think that the Direct may happen around or on the 27th to coincide with the 20th anniversary.
I absolutely can't wait to get this! TP is my favourite Zelda games of all time - getting to play it again after almost 10 years (and in HD) is going to be awesome.
Personally, I love my Majora's Mask N3DS XL; I got it on the day it released, and it has been used pretty much every day since. Coming from a standard red 3DS XL I didn't think that it would be much of an upgrade, but the new 3D is awesome (I went from never using the feature to keeping it on most of the time), the loading times/framerate for many of my games are much better, and the nub is actually a fantastic improvement from the heavy, clunky circle pad pro. Overall, I think it's the best handheld I've ever owned.
Hopefully this means that purchases will be linked to the account itself rather than the hardware. I know it's probably unlikely knowing Nintendo, but if the new system followed Sony's model and allowed for several systems to be linked to the same account, it would be awesome.
Personally, I think that a definitive edition of the game with all the DLC (and maybe all stages and modes from both the 3DS and WiiU versions) would be a great idea on Nintendo's part; the series was extremely popular on the GC and Wii, so I bet it would entice many people who decided to skip the WiiU to take the plunge and buy the new console. If they can add in a couple more WiiU and 3DS remasters/ports, a few third-party titles, some new entries of tried-and-true franchises (Pikmin, Zelda, Metroid, Mario) and (hopefully) a few inexpensive VC titles (brownie points if it's GC games) near launch, they'll have hit jackpot. I know it's an unlikely scenario, but a girl can dream.
@Pj1 It's because Amazon briefly offered the game at a lower price (£35.85) last week, and according to Amazon's preorder policy, customers are always charged the lowest price that the item is offered for between the preorder date and the release date. I had no idea about this before I found out the price of my order dropped and looked it up.
I had preordered the special edition on Amazon over a month ago; now I went to check my order and I discovered that the price has dropped from £44.99 to £35.85! Hurray for them and their preorder price guarantee policy! ^_^
@Octane I know the 'facelift', as I had called it, is just some updated textures, but I'm still jumping at the chance to play one of my favourite games of all time again, since my GC original disc isn't working anymore. And, as I have mentioned in my post, it's highly likely that the amiibo DLC is only there so you can save some sort of data from that dungeon and carry it on to the next Zelda game - using the toy to do it. Plus, we know so little about it at this stage that it might as well be possible to unlock the dungeon anyway through normal play, meaning that the amiibo only speeds up the process. Anyway, I just don't see what the big discussion is all about: if you want to buy the toy, buy it, and if you don't, you're not really missing on anything important; the original game with all its dungeons and quests is still all there. That's how I see it.
I'll be honest, I can't really see what all the fuss is about. I mean, TP is a ten-year-old game that's getting a facelift; all the content from the original game, plus some tweaks to the gameplay I'd assume, is there on the disc. Even if the amiibo unlocks an extra dungeon (which probably won't be part of the story at all, but only linked to Zelda WiiU somehow), so what? Personally, since I'm a massive Zelda fan and TP is my favourite game in the series, I'm going to get the amiibo; it's going to sit on my desk next to my Rosalina and Toon Link, and if it allows me to unlock a little bit extra in-game, then all the better. But I really don't see why people are makig such a fuss over a £10 figurine (which admittedly looks pretty cool) unlocking a most likely inconsequential piece of DLC as some kind of a reward for the people who decide to shell out the extra cash for a collectible toy. Especially since the extra bit has most likely only been made to link this game to the new one and would not even be there at all if amiibos weren't a thing. I mean, most big franchises (Assassins' Creed, anyone?) require you to shell out £20 or more if you want to get the (day one) extra maps, missions and whatnot; at least with amiibo you've got something tangible for your money, too. This is just my opinion, of course - I understand that some people are against on-disc DLC or just DLC in general, so no offense meant.
This looks so bad it's almost ridiculous - even Farmville on Facebook has better graphics and animations than this. It just looks like a cheap rip-off of the real Bokujo games; why anyone would buy this when Story of Seasons is available is beyond me. :/
I was starting to think I had not received my email, but then I found it in my spam folder. It's actually pretty handy for me - I was going to buy an extra copy for my AC-crazed mother next week anyway, NoUK just saved me £30.
