Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 'Second Wind' Mod Videos Targeted By Nintendo

JeanPaul

Well, I'm surprised it lasted that long, but we all saw this coming. Nintendo doesn't like mods, at all. So if you're using a platform to show the mod of a Nintendo game, it's just a matter of time before they come for you.
And while I agree that it sucks for the mods community, I also agree that Nintendo wants to protect its intellectual properties, as they should.

@Pillowpants I've been thinking about this for a while. Looks like the default checklist, in this case, is to tweet a statement/apology, step back from your job (sometimes with a check on your pocket), keep a low profile while the storm calms down, meanwhile, your buddies get you another job and that's it. No repercussions, and a new job where they can behave like that again.
They know how to play with the justice system in their favor.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

JeanPaul

From my perspective, if you’re making a fan made game from a Nintendo franchise, you don’t expect to monetize from it and you expect the soon to arrive C&D letter. They’ve always been like that and will never change.
On the other hand, making these fan games are always helpful to indie developers to create their own IP, or we wouldn’t have Hollow Knight for example.
It’s like art, we all start copying from life, then we go and create our own.

Re: Random: This Vintage Metroid Cosplay Is Terrible, And We Absolutely Love It

JeanPaul

That’s a pretty good job, even more impressive by being in the 80s. Cosplay is harder than most people think, and in the 80s there were no reference sheets, or artwork from video games books, hell there wasn’t even internet to look them up, or look for tutorials to know which materials to use, and of course make everything for your size.
I’ll always applaud cosplay, it’s a lot of work to create it, and it takes some serious guts to show it to the world and know that it could be very well received or they can jump at you with all their toxicity.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Leaks Are Inevitable, But Do You Actually Want To Know?

JeanPaul

This culture of leaks/rumors is so tiring and toxic. Everyone wants information available at the moment, and people are exploiting that, either hacking companies or individuals, or spreading rumors just for clicks. And of course if the leaks is not good, or if it’s false, an angry mob begins to cancel a company.
I don’t mind a leak, but they used to be that, leaks and they were strange to happen, now it’s a complete waterfall of information that may or not be true.
