For those that haven't played the original but are interested in picking up Doki Doki Literature Club Plus for Nintendo Switch, it's still rather mysterious (which is, indeed, part of the appeal). A visual novel with cute visuals, it's nevertheless consistently described as a psychological horror game that has a mature rating. To the uninitiated, it seems fascinating.
A freshly released video - above - doesn't clear that up, but creator Dan Salvata does talk through some of the new content in this 'Plus' edition coming to Switch and many other platforms. They outline new side story content, fresh soundtrack additions, upgraded visuals and more for both new and experienced players to discover.
It arrives on 30th June for $14.99USD / €12.49, and eager fans can also try to pick up the rather nice physical edition.
Is this on your Switch wishlist for the end of the month?

It’s a bit of a shame that everyone knows the deal with it now. Playing it from word of mouth back when it first dropped was, well an experience. Intrigued to see how the Switch handles certain elements.
@nessisonett
I’ve never played it, and really know nothing about it. I bought a physical copy on Amazon, so will get to it eventually.
I'm pretty sure he's Dan Salvato, not Dan Salvata.
I am So Dang Excited for this!!!! Looks amazing!!!
@nessisonett the likes of Madoka Magica and Princess Tutu didn't stop being masterpieces after their true nature became too memetic for new audiences to remain oblivious to. And even then, the devil is always in the details - after SMBU's Spirit Board nonchalantly spoiled me a big Xenoblade twist, my curiosity was only kindled further because I still lacked and yearned for the context. Resident Evil hasn't been any less fun to play despite me ending up with a beaten first Revelations prior and knowing full well (on top of, again, all the memes) what the core theme of the whole series is. Same goes for this game - I know some key points about it, except they remain bright but mere dots until connected via everything the narrative and the gameplay have to offer.
DDLC spoils itself immediately with its warnings anyway, as well as the Steam "Psychological Horror" tag.
And that's fine. The game expects the player knows what's up, and plays with that expectation. It's written to tease you in the first half into thinking horrible things will happen, then subverting them, until suddenly it doesn't.
Knowing what DDLC is, at least vaguely, doesn't kill the experience.
That said - I'd still recommend getting this on PC if the new version is available. It's got a few moments that just cannot by nature work well on console.
yeah its dan salvato
@AchievingGamer Knock yourself out. It’s not like I’m saying people shouldn’t play the game. Just that the subversion works better going in blind.
I did a quick Google for more information and even the drop down questions on Google are full of spoilers so be warned. It's aimed at adults and has adult themes with many good reviews. I'm still ordering and gonna play but frustrating I know some big spoilers by mistake.
@turnmebackwards Don't worry, I thought I knew everything going in, and I was still surprised! You should still enjoy it very much!
Played this a while ago and man, what a ride hehe, it’s a very unique kind of game, yep, I’ll get it.
I'm confused, is Europe not getting the physical release? I can't find it on amazon
Already preodered the digital version.I never preordered a digitla game before, that's how hyped i am for this.
@dojmin Dan Salvato said on Twitter the phisycl european version will come later.Follow him there for updates.

Not really much to call it gameplay 👀
@Blooper987 Thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward to playing this game knowing some spoilers or not
Looks right up my alley. Just finished World End Syndrome and enjoyed it a lot. Gonna keep my eye on this.
I appreciate his commitment to the bit.
I played DDLC at launch being almost in the dark as to what was up. The game opens with an unavoidable disclaimer, but that's all I knew. Best way to play the game.
@ThomasBW84 The developer's name has an o at the end, "Dan Salvato," not Salvata.
I'm thrilled this is coming. Finally get to see what all the fuss is a about.
I wonder why people seem to thing it needs pc tho.
Is it a sequence that involved a hair trigger response or a cursor?
I'll be more than happy to play this on switch.
@Carnictis it’s spoilers, but it’s something that certainly isn’t possible to replicate exactly on consoles.
@Blooper987 ahhh I see I see! So excited. I know this game is meant to be freaky do I'm excited to see where it goes.
We actually got to see a bit of a mock-desktop! You guys know what that means.
