Re: Editorial: An Empty Box is $5 and a Dock is $89 - Welcome to Switchonomics

Janus1986

A really high price, but needed to fulfil late Iwata-san's vision of a return to "Nintendo-like" profits, I guess

Oh, and I just preordered the dock. Too lazy to unplug the dock every time I want to play in the cinema room in the basement. Unfortunately, the PS4 is currently holding the available HDMI-port there. Still have to figure that out. Yes, those are first world problems.

Re: Video: The Complete History Of Mario Kart

Janus1986

That was a fine video, congrats! I always loved Mario Kart, the most recent one obviously is the best. The only thing they could add to the package of MK8D is a decent single-player campaign. I miss something like Diddy Kong Racing, where the great racing mechanics were complemented by a fun single-player experience.

Re: Review: LEGO City: Undercover (Switch)

Janus1986

@Desy64 thank you, could you please elaborate a bit on the co-op part? I planned to pick this up to play it together with my wife - the performance problems mentioned in the review however made me rethink. Is it playable together or does it feel totally messed up? My wife is not a core gamer, but she likes co-op stuff, so I thought this would be a good next project together after we finished Snipperclips. How was your experience?

Re: Feature: One Month of Nintendo Switch - Five Improvements We Want to See

Janus1986

I agree with all the points said. We early adopters are all glorified beta testers for this system and get rewarded with being able to play Zelda:BotW on the go. I also enjoyed Snipperclips and Fast Rmx. However, it starts to feel long until the end of April when MK8 hits, and I already played that a ton on the Wii U. However, I will of course pick it up for the new battlemode and on-the-go play.

Re: Feature: Our Team Reflects on a Week With Nintendo Switch

Janus1986

After one and a half week of having it, the Switch already has a firm place in my gaming habits. It really replaced both the Wii U and the N3DS - and, by launching with Zelda - also the PS4, as I chose to play BotW instead of Horizon: Zero Dawn.
I like the system a lot and look forward to the firmware upgrades that will hopefully bring improvements with cloud saves and streaming apps like Netflix.
As regards Virtual Console, I bought a lot on Wii U and 3DS and won't buy them again. So unless there is a loyalty program or some other reward / new feature that Nintendo introduces on Switch Virtual Console, I'll not have classic games on Switch.

Re: Axiom Verge Team Still Awaiting Approval for Nintendo Switch Release

Janus1986

It will certainly come out on Switch. Nintendo sent out lots of devkits in the last months and now they'll have their hands full to review every pitch they get. Edit: So I don't think this has anything to do with Metroid.

I got four games at launch and would not have the time anyway to play anything else beside Zelda, Fast RMX and Snipperclips. I haven't event tried out 1-2-Switch really.

Re: Talking Point: The Leaps and Falls of Super Mario Run's Launch

Janus1986

Honestly, those crybabies need a proper lesson and Nintendo is giving them one. I don't think it matters if they get bad "user" reviews, they just need to show the world that their model works and is generating profits. Than the story will change to "How the most iconic video game company did its own thing in the mobile market".

Re: EA Reconfirms That A "Major Game" Is In Development For Nintendo Switch

Janus1986

"Perhaps EA is working on something entirely new for the Switch?"
There are new games from EA? No, I don't think so. They will take a heavy-hitter like FIFA, maybe beef it up with some additional functionality to account for the Switch's special MacGuffin (whatever that might really be), and release it without too much marketing effort behind it.
