Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Switch

ITAFTRS

I had such a piss day at work yesterday, and then you hear about these news. I'm so hyped, can't wait to play this lovely gem again. I would claim that this might just be the best open world game there is out there (sorry Zelda, but facts are facts). Nothing compares to the sense of wonder you get when exploring Mira

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

ITAFTRS

@BLPs It's funny that you're mentioning the controls, because I personally think that they are the best ones I've ever experienced in a video game, they gave you much more "freedom" compared to other platformers during this era (Banjo Kazooie, for instance). But each to their own.

I wouldn't give this game a 10 though, it's not perfect. There are better platformers, in my opinion.

Re: Review: Donkey Kong 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

ITAFTRS

I would give this a score somewhere between 8 and 9. I didn't find it repetitive at all when playing it back in the days (but then again, I'm a huge fan of collecting things in video games). The only thing that I remembered bothered me was that you couldn't skip any of the cutscenes, when you for instance where playing one of the minigames. So if you failed over and over again, you had to watch the same animation over and over again. Got a little slow paced in the end.

Re: Game Jam Tasks Developers With Creating A Zelda Title Starring A Female Link

ITAFTRS

I think the best and coolest option would be if you could choose your own Link's gender in a save file while playing a Zelda game (like Mass Effect or whatnot). Since Link is the - well - link between the player and game, the gender is pretty irrelevant. Link is basically you (in green tunics and pointy ears), so to me it makes a lot of sense to also have the option of making him the same gender as you.

Re: Dead Or Alive Producer Feels That A Cultural Divide Exists Between Japan And The West

ITAFTRS

I think video games are rather old fashioned when it comes to what is considered "sexy" and "good-looking". We most of the time only see one type of female body type in them, and I think it's rather sad and annoying that they can't be more creative. Although there are oversexualised men in games too, it's still a bigger variety when it comes to the looks of male characters. I guess I'm just getting sick of seeing the same female stereotype over and over again. "Oh, another one of these, huh. Please, come up with something new, will ya?". Hence the reason why I was rather hesitant of buying Hyrule Warriors at first when I saw the first shots of Cia; if they had modelled the other characters in the same, unnecessary oversexual way, I probably wouldn't have bought the game, but when I realized that that wasn't the case - when they prooved to us players that they can make awesome female models without unnatural body proportions and ridiculous outfits (see Impa) - I decided to go ahead and buy the game. Bayonetta - on the other hand - I'll probably never be buying, because I frankly find her too offensive and oversexualised of a character. I don't care if it's a great game or not - my refusing of buying it is my way of putting my foot down and stating "no, I don't think this is OK".

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Flirtation With Microtransactions May Step Up in 2015

ITAFTRS

I find a lot of people being ridicoulusly negative regarding this. Free-to-play has been here for a while, and it looks like it's here to stay for a while longer. What's so strange and horrifying about Nintendo trying out this new concept for a couple of games? I personally like that they're trying out something new, and can definitely picture myself on the train to work playing Pokemon Shuffle (am gonna look way cooler sitting there with my 3DS, compared to the other passengers playing Candy Crush on their smart phones^^). I won't buy any add ons, because I never do that with free to play.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd January (Europe)

ITAFTRS

Was considering DKCR, but then I decided I'll wait a while. Recently bought Tropical Freeze, so that DK Country game will have to do for now. Besides, the Metroid Prime trilogy releases next week, so I'm saving my money and time for that game/those games instead.

Re: Wii Disc Software Heading to the Wii U eShop

ITAFTRS

These are awesome news for someone like me who never owned a Wii (besides, each time I enter the Wii menu, I have to open the battery lid to my Wii controller and re-insert the batteries again, otherwise my controller won't work, so it's really a hassle). I might buy all these games, who knows (since the price is so low the first week, and I've played neither of them).

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 14th January, With Focus on Spring Releases

ITAFTRS

Nice! Will probably not see it until the day after tomorrow though - I'm working late + there's a potential after work afterwards with my work buddies, so yeah...

Anyways, looking forward for this direct. What I'd like to see are release dates for Majora's Mask 3D and Mario Party 10 (<--my Mum's favourite video game series, I'm looking forward to playing it with her, might even be able to convince her to buy it, hehe!). Also mayhap some info on the upcoming DLC packs for Hyrule Warriors.

Re: French Health and Safety Body Recommends Children Under 6 Avoid 3D, Report Rubbished By New Scientist Magazine

ITAFTRS

I totally agree with those French people, 3D effects can really mess with you. Since I have epilepsy, so I'm extra sensitive for playing games in 3D, or virtual reality things. And also people without my illness can be sensitive too. Have in mind that it's different between watching a movie in 3D and playing a game in 3D; when you play, you have to concentrate and physically do something, which results in the feeling of being even dizzier, whereas at the theatre, you're just a passive watcher of the movie.

Re: Twili Midna Joins The Battle In Upcoming Hyrule Warriors DLC Pack

ITAFTRS

If I'm excited? Look at my icon; what do you think? Midna is one of my favourite characters from the Zelda universa, so it'll be awesome too be able to play as her in her true form. Not sure about the mirror as a weapon though, that's pretty... meh. I'm sure they could've come up with something cooler. But anyways, I'm just nitpicking now. Haven't bought any DLC packs yet, but maybe I should give it a go, at least with Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors. Need to finish the FIRST adventure map first, though:P

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)

ITAFTRS

This game deserves more than a 7, in my opinion. Never played Dynasty Warriors or any game like it, so I was fairly new to this concept when I bought this title. But it's real fun and addictive, once you get the hang of it. Lots of Zelda nostalgia, lots of fun slash 'n' dash action. Yeah, I like it a lot. Only bad thing is that Cia is so ridiculously designed - that's the angry feminist in me speaking. But apart from that, I strongly recommend this title.

Re: Weirdness: Meet The 'Super Nintendog'

ITAFTRS

@SMW Yoshi of course, he must've swallowed a red shell. Either way, I don't like these grooming things. What's the purpose? If you're into painting, then buy a canvas like sane people.

Re: There's a Day One Pikmin 3 Update Waiting For You

ITAFTRS

I picked my game up today, yaaay!! I was rather confused that I could pick it up at the 25th, at a retail store, mind you. Even more confused that I could've picked it up as early as the 23rd. But whatevs, point is I got the game.

Re: Review: Pikmin 3 (Wii U)

ITAFTRS

This sounds really good, will actually be the first Pikmin game that I purchase. Have already preordered it, and will probably be able to get it on Friday.

Re: Aonuma Is Growing "Tired" Of The Zelda Formula And Wants To Ring The Changes

ITAFTRS

I love The Legend of Zelda, it's by far my favourite video game series! The whole "going-through-dungeouns-solving-puzzles-getting-items-beating-bosses" is a concept that really appeals to me. Plus (almost) everything else. That doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate a Zelda game with a new "touch" though. Changes can be a bit scary and you may be a bit sceptic about them at first, but I personally think you should have an open mind about it. Who knows, maybe you'll come to love it even more than before? In either way, I'm looking forward to Aunomas next move in this franshise, whatever it might be. I'm positive it will turn out great!

Re: Miyamoto: Mario Will Likely Return To Single-Player

ITAFTRS

At first I was a bit sceptic, because I haven't played an "open world" Mario game for such a long time, and was so looking forward of hearing about a new one at the E3. But now the disappointment's all gone, and I'm getting more hyped each day about this new title:)
