Looks pretty good. Hope to see all the NES/SNES/GB/GBA/N64 Virtual Console games ported over to Switch from the Wii U and a whole new selection of games.
Had my Switch for nearly 2 weeks now with a cheap £2.99 screen protector from ebay and not a single scratch on the screen protector so far, I'd imagine the Switch screen being far more scratch resistant then this cheap screen protector. I take my Switch out of the Dock several times a day, I was more concerned about the back of the Switch getting scraped but so far nothing.
I'm not sure how old school save slots would work on the Switch version as you have 1 manual save slot and 5 autosave slots which the game automatically cycles through, it would have 6 save states per save slot. How does the Wii U version handle it all I wonder?
But people are forgetting how quick and painless it is to set up a new user account and if you have alot of people sharing your games, your game won't get cluttered with dozens of save files which could accidentally get overwritten anyways. I personally like it alot.
But Nintendo should update the Switch to make people more aware of the profile features.
Ok, just checked, my old save had 2 auto saves and a manual save, easy to tell from the time they saved. Created a new game and it had 2 new auto saves that did not write over the old auto saves, creating a new manual save overwrites the old manual save. So, even if you start a new game, as long as you don't do a manual save, you'll be fine. And then there's the auto saves that could still be intact.
Tried the wheel accessory on the Wii for Mario Kart and it's just dreadful, does anyone prefer using it over the standard controller?
The demo of Puyo Puyo Tetris is pretty solid and the AI puts up a mean fight, so will be buying it. Cannot wait for MK8D and Lego City Undercover could be interesting, but might get that on PS4 instead.
Bet the 3DS would have polled the same results back when it released, but look at it now. Maybe the developers are just watching and waiting before commiting.
Once summer hits and these bigger releases come out, the Switch will be even more desirable and then there's Breath of the Wild sitting proudly on that game shelf which I'm sure every gamer wants to play at some point. Maybe?
Wasn't expecting a seperate review for the Wii U, nice job. Still got my Wii U plugged up next to my Switch, Wii U has a great catalogue of games still to be played.
Will the Wii (not Wii U) lan adapter work on the Switch? The Wii U lan adapter is overpriced (seems to be a repackaged Wii one anyways) but the Wii version seems much cheaper.
The more I play Zelda, the more I like it, it just keeps on throwing nice touches at you.
When I look at the games line-up (already looks amazing), I get strong 3DS vibes, as in, the Switch will be a very successful console like the 3DS, even more so I reckon because of the nice screen. There's no 3D gimmick to sell this system, instead, Nintendo went with an interesting hybrid system with good designs on the controllers and the system itself.
Love the fact it's more like a laptop than a tablet. But my god, the thermal paste just slapped onto the CPU as though someone ordered an ice cream sundae, just as bad as PC graphics cards.
That was the best Switch teardown video I've seen and was very informative, I had no idea that RAM was upgradable or the fact the fan is vibration mounted to reduce the noise levels of the fan. The Switch seems really well designed, well, except the weak wifi pickup or the questionable placement of the Joy-Con's bluetooth antenna.
365games sold out of Switch then offered just the console a day later for £309 then a day later it went up to £329. My Local CEX game store had a Switch on display in their window for £350!
A few days ago the Neon Red/Blue Switch came into stock on the Nintendo Official UK Store, grabbed it then hours later it had sold out, it's now been sold out all week. Best place to grab a Switch though for that 2 year warranty and no silly inflated prices!
Got my Switch from the UK Nintendo Store so have 2 year warranty on my Switch. Been testing the console all day today, no dead pixels, speakers are fine on the console itself, the joy-cons work fine at 20 feet with no disconnects, it's been smooth so far. I remember PS4 and XB1 having teething issues at launch with bad batches and firmware issues etc, nothing new here.
I was keeping a close eye on popular UK game shop sites and was amazed how fast they went from in stock to out of stock. Amazon, GAME, Argos, 365games, Nintendo UK store, Tesco Direct etc sold out pretty damn fast.
I simply cannot use a touch screen device without a screen protector, wish they would use glass instead of plastic. I'm concerned if the heat along the bottom of the Switch will cause the screen protector to peel, that would be annoying.
Meanwhile on the PS Store, there's some great discounts with many top titles getting 50% and 75% off. Nintendo really need to step it up and offer good games for sale, not these small cheap indie games which probably don't sell well anyway.
I don't know. When you compare the features of the Switch as a handheld and then the features as a console, well, it seems more like a handheld as its the handheld features which intrigue the most (free local multiplayer). Also, the specs make it look like a handheld (mobile chipset). If the Switch wasn't portable and just a home console with those specs, I'd seriously question Nintendo's judgement.
All this talk about F-Zero has me wishing Nintendo made one for the Wii U, I really hope Switch gets the F-Zero treatment, but in the meantime, I'd love to see all the F-Zero classics made available on the Virtual Console.
They clearly had ambitions for BotW, but were held back by the Wii U hardware. No wonder they want to make another Zelda game for the Switch to take full advantage of the system.
That e3 2014 demo looked like it was running off a PC, crammed with so many effects and was buttery smooth.
It's going to be hard seeing that Sheikah Slate as anything other than a Wii U gamepad as it was originally going to be, a permanent reminder of the games changed and missing features.
But, I was never a fan of the 2 screen setup of the DS and 3DS, I much I prefer everything to be contained on the one screen, so this is an improvement for BotW.
He's such a lovely guy, it's his voice which brings Mario to life. But I do often wonder what would happen if he quit and they had to use a sound-alike? That's going to be horrible.
@Frosty_09 True that, I got an early 3DS to get those ambassador games and really enjoyed them alot, just a shame they didn't release them on the eshop for everyone else to enjoy.
I'm interested in this one too, love Bomberman local multiplayer, but I'd need an extra controller or two to make this game worthwhile, and I refuse to spend that amount of money on 2 joycons.
Still a big price for not very much in return. That 1-2-Switch has to be one of the most unappealing games I've seen in a long, long time. They might sell one or two copies because people want more games for their Switch and the long wait for decent games once they complete Zelda will be a painful memory for this system.
Look at the N64, Gamecube and 3DS, all got slashed within half a year, I'd imagine the Switch to do the same, which is the same time when decent games start coming out for the Switch, strange coincidence. Buying now will disappoint most, so expect that if you're an early adopter, just hope Nintendo will reward them as they did with the 3DS ambassadors.
Heh, why add new courses when they can add it as DLC later on?
Nintendo smarts.
I never got it for WiiU, so I'll buy this because it's going to be a loooooooong 5-7months before the next wave of good titles hit the Nintendo Switch. Bleh.

@datamonkey That might cause Joy-Con/Pro controller connection issues.

@KiWiiU_Freek Man that game is fantastic, hope to see a re-release on the Switch, itching to play it again!

Ah, it does ask for your confirmation before starting a new save, it says overwrite previous save data?
Re: Don't Start A New Game Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild If You Want To Keep Your Save Data
What happens if you accidentally hit new game, does it just start, no confirmation, then your old saves are overwritten?
Must test.

Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
Breath of the Wild is freaking brilliant, love the way the game presents itself.
May not have much games right now but when I look at what's coming out over the next few months, well, we're in for a treat with this console.
