Re: Nintendo YouTube Creators Program Update Clarifies Rules and Delayed Approvals Due to Volume of Applications

HollywoodHogan

"It is taking longer than we anticipated to confirm the applications. We appreciate your patience as we work through them as quickly as possible"

No online. No HD. Amiibo's out of stock. No more GameCube adaptors. Forced motion controls no one wants. Finding it harder than they thought to produce HD games for Wii U....why is Nintendo always ill prepared??

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox for Wii U is an Ongoing and Surprising Mystery

HollywoodHogan

@Goomba77

Been all over the world actually.

I've gone to Japan, have several Japanese friends, and never once have I used '-san' at the end of their names or been asked/told to.

Miyamoto isn't reading this, he isn't speaking to him in person, and it smacks me as being very unnecessary and out of touch to feel the need to add "-san" to the end of all these Japanese Nintendo executives names. It stands out like a sore thumb in all these articles.

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox for Wii U is an Ongoing and Surprising Mystery

HollywoodHogan

Am I the only one who cringes and finds it corny when the Brits writing these articles constantly refer to Japanese people by adding the honorific "-san" to the ends of their names? You guys don't need to try so hard.

I was excited for a Star Fox Wii U game, but the fact that it is so dependant on the gamepad and requires you to swing it around to aim, while forcing me to take my eyes off my beautiful HD tv, made me lose interest fast.

Re: Not Everyone is Thrilled That Metroid Prime Trilogy Lands on the Wii U eShop Tomorrow

HollywoodHogan

@OMGILikeTurtlez

How?

Some guy who bought the game years ago for around $30-40 is still going to make his money back, or more, by selling the game on eBay today or in the future.

The Mega Man games can be purchased for $4.99 on VC but a quick eBay search sees physical copies selling for $20-60.

People are paying a premium (willingly) to own something collectible. They are not paying a high price because they want to just play the game. They want to own a piece of their childhood/gaming history.

Not hard to understand.

Re: Not Everyone is Thrilled That Metroid Prime Trilogy Lands on the Wii U eShop Tomorrow

HollywoodHogan

@DdFixen

Because the guy is selling a physical copy for $40+ to someone who wants it even more than he does, making a $30 profit, then buying a downloadable copy for $10 because he is happy with that.

Not really that hard to understand. He made $30 for free. The only problem I'm having is wrapping my head around the fact that you find this logic hard to understand.

"If he sold his car to someone for $100,000....then turned around and repurchased the same car from someone else for $20,000...why wouldn't he have just kept his car in the first place!? It makes no sense!" <--- this is pretty much the situation you are having trouble understanding.

Re: Not Everyone is Thrilled That Metroid Prime Trilogy Lands on the Wii U eShop Tomorrow

HollywoodHogan

Someone selling a 5+ year old, rare and out of print video game, is not a 'scalper'. It's someone who is making a deserved profit on something that somebody obviously wants because of its collectibility and rarity.

If someone puts a copy of Earthbound for the SNES on eBay and starts the auction at $30 (because that's all they are looking for) and it ends up selling for $180...how does that make them the bad guy? Obviously the market has dictated that it's value is much more than that, and that someone willingly bid on it and feels that the game is worth that much to them. Should they make it a 'buy it now' auction and be forced to sell it for just $10? Of course not.

The people who complain about this are truly lacking intelligence and the basic understanding of supply and demand.

Also, many other older/rare games on the VC have physical copies selling for $20-50 regularily in stores and online. The people who pay these high prices for old games will continue to do so even though they are available as $5 downloads because they want the original physical copy. That is what they are paying for. It's a collectible for them.

Just having a rare game made available on the VC does not mean that physical copies of the game are going to hit rock bottom on the resale market.

I hope that all of you guys whining and moaning about this remember to maintain their strong moral ground on this issue when you go to a yard sale and find a copy of the rare NES game 'Stadium Events'. Be sure to only resell the game on eBay for $5, because it's old and that's all it is worth. Don't sell it for $10,00+ which the free market (and collectors) would gladly pay for it!!

HollywoodHogan

@Kaze_Memaryu

"That's completely besides the point. This isn't about what Nintendo implements/enforces, but about what we make of such exploits.
Just look at this: we had a region-unlock in our hands! Regardless of what Nintendo might think of it, we had the chance to prove that we can support that, and show clear interest in imported games
But look at it now: all these people are doing is showing how utterly pathetic they are in their greedy aspirations! We lost an entire argument because of this, and NOBODY can hold it against Nintendo that they're patching this! It's just plain sickening how people fawn over this, even here in the comments, and they're even proud of this!
We had a great opportunity to prove a point, but instead these morons committed murder in court"

Re: Video: Does Super Mario Galaxy 2 On Wii U Offer Anything New?

HollywoodHogan

@SparkOfSpirit

Hahaha right, because Nintendo has a great track record in regards to their online downloadable offerings and how they are made available to consumers via their awful account system!

Also, Microsoft has always had terrible backwards compatibility? The 360 let you play (and download) games from the original Xbox. The only reason the Xbox One doesn't have any is because the internal architecture is completely different. Same goes for the PS4. You really believe the next Nintendo hardware will mimic the internals of a console released in 2006?? Something that even at that point in time, was severely outdated??? Maybe Wii U 2 will come with a stone tablet and chisel then?

Re: Video: Does Super Mario Galaxy 2 On Wii U Offer Anything New?

HollywoodHogan

@SparkOfSpirit

Because as I stated already, there is a Wii inside the Wii U.

Do you actually believe that Nintendo will be interested (want to spend the added money) putting Wii hardware inside their next console, which should be substantially more powerful than the Wii U? It doesn't make sense at all, especially if Nintendo ditches it's current hardware architecture and aims for something more in line with what the PS4 and Xbox are doing.

Actually, believing that the next Nintendo console, coming out in 2017-2018 or whatever, will share any internal components with the Wii, a system that came out a decade earlier, is laughable.

Re: Video: Does Super Mario Galaxy 2 On Wii U Offer Anything New?

HollywoodHogan

@BensonUii @SparkOfSpirit

Ummmmmmm....I think that's a pretty huge assumption you guys are making, assuming that you will be able to download and play these Wii games on the NEXT Nintendo console. Remember, these games are not emulations. The Wii-U hardware physically contains a Wii. If the next console is not based on the same hardware architecture (good chance it's not) you can say goodbye to playing these games on the next console.

You can't even play XBL games you downloaded on the 360 on an Xbox One because the hardware is so different.

Re: Lucky New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Gamers Jump Straight to eBay to Flog Systems

HollywoodHogan

@skywake

You say you aren't mad about this situation...yet you repeatedly refer to people as 'ducks', 'a-holes' and 'pathetic' throughout your rant. It's quit obvious you have some emotional investment in this issue because people don't get worked up like that over things they supposedly don't care about.

Also, I suggest you check a dictionary and read the description of 'scalper' or 'scalping'.

Scalpers, by definition, sell tickets to events at a higher price. Scalpers do not sell video games/action figures or record concerts on iPads....lol.

Re: Nintendo Dominated Japan During 2014, Despite A Shrinking Market

HollywoodHogan

@PokeMario

"When I do that I usually mention the exclusive games since I don't think it's worth it to buy a console if the games you want to play are already available to you somewhere else."

That's your personal opinion though. You can't counter someone's factual point (that the Wii-U doesn't have that many games coming out in 2015) by responding with a small list of PS4 titles, ignoring the dozens of other games it is getting that you personally don't count.

Fact of the matter is the PS4 has more games coming out for it in 2015 than the Wii-U and this point isn't even debatable. If you want to cherry pick which games 'you' want to count, this is irrelevant and just avoiding reality.

Re: Nintendo Dominated Japan During 2014, Despite A Shrinking Market

HollywoodHogan

@PokeMario

Where you mention the small list of Sony exclusives announced so far for 2015 in a mocking tone, you are conveniently leaving out the dozens of multi-platform third party titles which will be gracing that console and NOT the Wii U.

Nintendo is still making a small profit while not taking too many risks, which is good, but I know that Nintendo wishes they were doing much better, especially globally
