Too little too later, already got me an X box One. And will remember this nonsense come next gen too. Then again it has always been apparent that Sony is only customer friendly if it HAS to be.
Lets hope this lesson will be remembered by the Nintendo and Microsoft as well. Stick to making incentives to keep customers on your platform rather than punishing them for buying it. First to worst can be a mere screw up away.
One thing that has been a breath of fresh air is that Capcom has been keen to take in input on world. Granted they are inconsistent at best with just about everything. But I am hopeful that when they made the inevitable true switch monster hunter game they will take the best of both worlds...or will make the biggest dumpster fire in history because Capcom. 😄
Came just in time. While world was a cute jaunt in upscaled graphics land, the content was and still is incredibly anemic and challenge was non existent. Even the arch tempered monsters were mediocre. Then again Capcom did very little to increase the difficulty other than beef up hit points and damage values.
Behemoth was ok but was only difficult when hunting with random players who refused to learn. With a decent group even Extremoth was not too hard so long as you knew or was willing to learn.
Definitely looking forward to fighting the new deviants.
Went right over I see. Well my fault for being a tad obscure My riffing was more on the Sony(pony) fans penchant to find fault(not a pun) in Nintendo and this such news is fuel to their fire. In no way I was mocking switch owners or making wisecracks(pun) on their fractured situation.
@JaxonH Indeed if the Monster Hunter game is a legitimate one and not some mobile port or half hearted attempt, this is exactly what I want. Why shoehorn a game that runs ok on home consoles when you can tailor make one for the system it is for.
Frankly world was okay at best and only became somewhat interesting with the new arch tempered monsters. Solo clears of 2 min for you average high rank monsters was far too easy.
Unfortunate but expected. In the name of convenience we forgo ownership and effectively will be at the full mercy of corporations. Granted Nintendo has been decent to pretty good but as a company their MO will inevitably come into conflict on way or another.
This is exactly my stance. Gaming is no different. I am going to voice probably the most unpopular thought and say that this WHO nonsense is less about disorder and more about enabling the lack of self control and discipline.
So often I see perfectly functioning people diminish themselves by saying they have this disorder or that; while there people who are considered physically handicapped such as Nicholas Vujicic and many others live much more fulfilling lives.
I am not saying all disorders are bunk, but speaking from experience, I will say there is a great deal that can be overcome disorders be damned with discipline and faith.
This move just shows plainly that Sony is scared stupid of the Switch. More embarrassing than anything really.
When your only answer to a challenge is as overbearing, controlling and uninspired as this rather than to seek your own innovation/incentive it just shows that they have nothing worthwhile.
I can’t see this ending well for Sony. Especially in a day an age where consumers are just so sick and tired of corporations treating them like money cows. Pretty glad my home console is a PC.
Sought this for the gamecube and played it to death. Definitely a buy once more. If you like the genre I can tell you first hand, get the game, you will love this.
@Jimmy_G_Buckets True, the QOL improvements were great but ultimate does have the superior layered armor in transmog. There will be pluses and minuses with both.
Agreed. Every time I play world I lament at how it would be much better and more played if it was portable. My lifestyle has me hardly at home to play as much as I want.
@wiggleronacid Not gonna lie, keep you expectations low. It is easily one of the most anemic Monster hunters to date.Just enjoy the QOL changes, the ok graphics upgrade, and if you are lucky., most of the casual fussers will stay on the consoles.
Also since decrations are the new RNG don’t be surprised if you never see certain ones. I am 400ish hour and have yet to see any attack decos other than the one you get.
@Winklebottom Wait for PC. From 1 st hand experience. I can say world barely runs well on the xbox and ps4. It runs best on the one X but only at an unlocked 30fps. Server quality is better as well.
Of course this is all barring the potential of them making a half hearted mess on the PC because Capcom.
Hard pass on anything Konami until the leadership is flushed out and replaced by people who care about gaming; or at least their consumers or even their products.
@SomeWriter13 Indeed so long as it is tailor made for the switch. From personal experience it is silly to wish for a world port as it barely does well with the PSBox one. Plus it desperately needs an endgame that is better fleshed out. It would be a good base, gameplay wise, to start from. The quality of life aspects are quite nice.
Not sure about the feasibility of this, but I do like the enthusiasm. To quote an old New Yorker proverb we like to say in these instances, “put up or shut up”. But I most certainly am interested if this work out well.
Yeah while I was willing to double dip, 60 is far too much for this game. Especially that the initial release can be had for 20. Unless the added far more than just Funky mode there is no reason it should be full price.
@CrazedCavalier Genuinely curious how they flopped on the combat in you opinion. Not disagreeing with you as I feel that the combat can definitely use tweaking and balancing, just would like to hear your fleshed out input.
If it were only a straight graphical downgrade I would say sure. But I feel that it would be more than that. But if they want to take a crack at it, why not? I would doulbe dip. As pretty as the graphics are, the lack of portability is frankly incredibly frustrating. I’ve not nearly played it enough as I would any other entry.
I can attest to this as well, especially when hitting with a charge blade’s SAED. Overall, the game is great but there are some issues. The QOL is great. The locations are wonderful.
My gripes are the very anemic endgame, the fact that even on current gen systems it has issues running well. And the raging dumpster fire was that is online.
DLC hopefully will fix the first issue, and I know a fair amount of people voiced dumping their console copies for the PC version when it is available (and hopefully not buggy unoptimized trash). Online is another pony though. With scaled HP and an empty hall gone are the days where you bonded with random people to hunt.
Best bet it to have some friends before hand to play since now it is all SOS then dump the team right after the hunt. Kinda sad as I loved hunting with randoms at length as you get to know some crazy fun people you normally wouldn’t.
@LordGeovanni To your benefit, at least you are not acting like the Labo announcement somehow destroyed all non labo products current and future and honestly, I wish I was making this up.
Wow wow wow, I have to say I am genuinely surprised. This has the Nintendo mix of madness and genius they are known for. Bit sad that this is not for my demographic, definitely wish I had kids to share this with. Definitely am a bit concerned on that pricetag for their audience, then again 1 2 switch was a thing.
To the nay sayers we were warned that this was a new way to play for kids. As some stated this direct want for you, it happens, not to detract/deny the joy any (wo)man children and/or parent giddy on this.
To those chiding the naysayers, ease up, not everyone may have gotten the memo on the direct for kids leak. Not everyone is watching these sites like a hawk, yes it is crazy I know. This direct was a sincere shock eitherway that will take time and more info to properly process.
Definitely have to applaud Nintendo’s effort on a franchise that has yet to make it big fiscally. It would be nice to have it be as big as Zelda and Mario.
@ALinkttPresent Just want to congratulate you on a wise choice. It takes a real strength to admit and abstain from something that can be a problem.

I implore everyone to really take to heart that anything that is in your life that threatens to take over your time and energy at the expense of your quality of life, that is potentially an addiction, regardless how it affects others. At least, it means you need to show some self restraint. At most you may have to take stronger measures.
Honestly Capcom will have to do well with this venture otherwise they are in serious trouble. Monster Hunter accounted for 50% of their revenue. Already, they had alienated and divided their userbase, even more so since they are not seeking crossplay. And Japan, being their biggest fanbase is really not keen on it being on a non portable system. Add to that the decently long development time, I would even wager the would need more than their standard 2 million goal to turn a profit.
Of course unknowns to account for is how many new players in the west will it gain as well as if the Japanese audience will still be willing to buy it on a non portable system. Gut feeling says it may flop because Capcom has a knack for stealing defeat from the jaw of victory, but nothing will be certain until launch day if Street Fighter 2 for switch has taught us anything.
It is quite interesting how this rating pending is being taken.
I am reminded of how a friend tried to get through an essay by randomly writing all the things he could think of that he learned. When it came back he didn't even get a score all that was written was nonsense not even worth scoring.
As I see it, it is calling it a buggy mess that is not even worth scoring. Yes they did say they would change it if it is patched. But how I see it in context is that it is not worth even scoring as is and as such not even worth buying. Essentially less than zero.
@electrolite77 As simple as it sounds for a completionist it's not so much. Checking off all the boxes so to speak is a very satisfying itch to scratch and can be incredibly frustrating when you get one that says play upside down while yodeling God save the Queen to the tune of Yankee Doodle.
But that is one minor thing from the sounds of their post and more that they did a bunch of guessing when programming before they got their kit the try to get a leg up and now they have to smooth some bumps.

@Faruko This is my problem with Sony and Microsoft. Most everything that is worth while on them is also or will be on the computer. And the few actual exclusives are meh at best to me. Wow just wow, I would never have imagined that Capcom would screw up so badly. First this bastardization that may be MHW (on the fence until I see real gameplay but definitely not impressed at all) and no localizing of XX. Trying real hard to not jump to conclusions but after this much nonsense, I'm not sure I can imagine worse.
Gut feeling says this is the beginning of the end for Capcom. Obviously a very knee jerk reaction, but from this switch snubbing, SFV, MvC infinite, and more all I can say is what the crap are you thinking Capcom?!?!
Just as I said, for every good announcement Capcom makes, the next one or two tends to be something asinine. Here's hoping the next misstep is not Monster Hunter related.
