Re: Hyperkin Reveals HDMI SNES Clone, The Supa RetroN HD

HFish12

@Tempestryke Oh yeah, definitely. Hyperkin's model seems like a good choice for those hardcore Nintendo fans out there who couldn't get their hands on the SNES Mini. I wish Nintendo would stop having all of these stock shortages because it's really frustrating.

Re: Hyperkin Reveals HMDI SNES Clone, The Supa RetroN HD

HFish12

@Zadaris But for the consumers that aren't hugely dedicated Nintendo fans, they'll only hear of the official SNES Classic. I can see Hyperkin's model putting up fair numbers for the hardcore fan base, but outside of that I don't see any mass appeal for it.

Re: Hyperkin Reveals HMDI SNES Clone, The Supa RetroN HD

I'm sorry, but this thing has no chance against the SNES Classic. One is made by Nintendo and the other is by a smaller, lesser-known company. People would rather buy the official thing.

EDIT: I'm not saying it is a bad alternative to the SNES Mini, I was simply referring to the subtitle Nintendolife made for this article: "The SNES Mini could have competition"

Re: MercurySteam Elaborates On How It Came To Work On Metroid: Samus Returns

HFish12

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I would argue that it's better to have it release on the 3DS. Reggie himself said Nintendo wanted to release it on the 3DS rather than the Switch because 66 million people would be able to play a new Metroid game. It makes sense for a franchise that hasn't seen a good game for years. This way millions people who wanted to play Metroid can get their hands on it this September.

Re: Feature: Our Nintendo Hopes and Dreams for E3 2017

HFish12

I'm not expecting Nintendo to reveal too much given the fact it's a 30 minute presentation and they have plenty of Directs throughout the year; however, I do expect to hear about virtual console and a Smash Bros. port to the Switch. Some quick news on third-party support would be great, and perhaps there will be a big game reveal nobody saw coming. Maybe Metroid? Guess we'll find out. Still hyped nevertheless!

Re: "No Plans" For Destiny 2 On Switch, Says Project Lead Who Loves Nintendo's Console

HFish12

How is this even surprising to some? The only reason why we're not seeing big third party titles come to the Switch is because developers were hesitant after the colossal failure that was the Wii U. Destiny 2 was long in it's development cycle before the Switch was even announced, so it would be unlikely to see a release anyway. People need to undestand that only the Switch's sales will persuade developers to release more games for the system. And by the looks of the sales figures nearly three months in, it's a big possibility that we'll see games like Destiny and Call of Duty come to the Switch. It's just gonna take time.

Re: EA Is Considering Bringing More Games to Nintendo Switch

HFish12

I know it's a a bit of a stretch, but it would be amazing if Battlefield or Battlefront saw a release on the Switch. Even if it was just a port of Battlefield 4 I'd be pleased. I highly doubt the Switch could handle Bf1 though, so that's a bit of a bummer. With that said, it's highly unlikely Battlefront 2 will make its way to the system. But one thing is for sure, and that's that Madden must get a release!

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

HFish12

@Yasume I wish people would stop complaining about everything and just give the Switch a chance. Optimism is so hard to come by nowadays.

"The worst launch in gaming history" is already pushing it. Even the PS4 and Xbox One had worse lineups than the Switch.

Please go somewhere else if all you're going to do is complain.

Re: There Are Now Over 100 Games from 70+ Developers in the Works for Nintendo Switch

HFish12

For people complaining about the lack of third party support, just look at all those developers. Sure, so far we've seen a lot of ports, but that's only because the developers are being cautious after the failure that was the Wii U. If the Switch manages to have a good year in terms of sales I would expect to see more big name games coming to the system in 2018.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Switch Plan is Starting to Take Shape

HFish12

I can't believe people are already bashing Nintendo and the Switch when it hasn't even released yet. You at least have to give it a chance, there are plenty of things we don't know. Not saying I agree with everything Nintendo has done with the Switch so far, but I think it's only fair to at least wait until the console comes out.

I strongly think that this thing is going to take off by the holidays. People are definitely interested in what the Switch has to offer, but there just aren't enough games there to justify the $300 price tag at launch. Once more bundles release/a price cut and more games come out, the Switch could be a total game changer. But for now we just gotta wait and see.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Switch Presentation Summary

HFish12

I though the presentation was good. Zelda looked absolutely amazing and is without question the killer app for the Switch. Arms looks like a fun game that definitely has my attention, and the news of Skyrim and other big name third party titles is a big step forward. Mario Odyssey looks fantastic and the open world setting fits the franchise perfectly. Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe Edition looks great as well.

But I'm not convinced that the Switch will be a worthwhile investment at launch. The starting lineup of games is weak to say the least and it's obvious Zelda is carrying the weight of the launch. The accessories are obscenely overpriced and we still haven't received any work on VC support.

I'm confident the Switch will do well in it'a first year, but I fear it will struggle to find it'a ground until the holiday season. The lack of games at launch and the hefty price of the accessories will put a lot of people off. I do think this thing will take off by Christmas, though.
