Re: PlatinumGames Releases A Demo For The Wonderful 101: Remastered, And You Can Play As Wonder-Bayonetta

GuySloth

I highly recommend reading platinum’s tw101 blog tips and tricks 25 and 26. https://www.platinumgames.com/official-blog/games/the-wonderful-101/

Every enemy has an audio or visual tell - once the game clicks you’ll find that you can avoid every attack, even from off screen.

It isn’t intuitive that they lock dodge and block in the beginning; you have to unlock these crucial moves from the in-game store...at least from what I recall from the Wii U version but that changes everything.

This was originally released on the Wii U against metal gear solid 5 at the time and left to die but this game is a real gem if you give it a chance.

Re: Jools Watsham Wants to Know if You Want a Dementium III

GuySloth

Aren't horror titles niche? I recall Jools mentioning that the series as a whole under performed sales wise. As a creator he seems to be pushing pretty hard for the genre/series but I am not too optimistic about Dementium's prospect. He probably wants to make something other than platformers and I can appreciate that.

Re: Video: Relive the Glorious Madness of The Wonderful 101 With the 60fps Director's Edition Trailer

GuySloth

For those of you that couldn't get into TW101 I recommend looking up Saur's YouTube tutorials (3-part video) and reading Platinum's Blog, Entries 25 & 26 (Tips & Tricks).

You may be thinking to yourself that having to do so much work in order to "get" the game may be a bit much but you get what you put into the game. Think of the inputs as you would a fighting game and learn to draw with the right analog stick while holding the L button and you'll be mastering the mechanics in no time. Edit* It's also not immediately obvious but the first 2 abilities you should purchase are block and dodge - you don't start with either of those abilities.

I considered the first play through of the game as a warm up - also don't be afraid to play through the game on easy the first time around!

Re: Chris Pranger From Nintendo Treehouse Discusses Harsh Realities Of Localisation

GuySloth

The guys over at 8-4 have a podcast and they sometimes discuss localization and barely scratch the surface of what goes into it as it's mostly a discussion about Japanese games. These are the guys that localized Fire Emblem Awakening and just listening to some of their experiences is eye-opening to what goes on behind the scenes and how much work is truly involved.

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight (3DS)

GuySloth

The demo is available on the NA eShop and so far it's the classic Etrian Odyssey experience. EO4 is still my favorite but if you like this style of game then Untold 1 & 2 will be right up your alley. If you never liked the series on the DS to begin with I'm not sure if the updated experience starting with 4 will win you over...

Re: Players Reached Splatoon's Level Cap So Fast That Nintendo Worried About Their General Well-Being

GuySloth

I've played Splatoon almost every day since launch and reached level 20 and A+99 in ranked in a reasonable amount of time. I've completed the single player, found every sunken scroll, and completed all the amiibo challenges. From what I'm reading in some of the responses some people would say that there's little reason for me to come back to the game since I have achieved "everything" but I don't find that to be true. I have made every item I own 3 sockets and I'm currently working on perfect rolls for the gear that has an affinity for specific sub abilities. I also play regularly with a forum of highly skilled players and the best thing about PvP is that no game plays out the same.

Re: Wii U Stretch Goal Seemingly Teased for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

GuySloth

After reading the comments section of the article written about how the developers of Monochroma dropped support for many platforms it's clear that not many people understand how Kickstarter works. As Kingrat says, pledges can be dropped towards the end of a campaign and Kickstarter projects actually take that scenario into consideration.

Re: Monochroma For Wii U Scrapped Due To Technical Issues

GuySloth

Broken Age, Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, Shovel Knight, FTL: Faster Than Light, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, The Banner Saga, and Divinity: Original Sin are games that were successful due to Kickstarter off the top of my head. Mighty No. 9, Torment: Tides of Numenera, & Yooka-Laylee are on the way. Yes I am skeptical of many Kickstarted projects but there are always risks associated with such projects so I'm surprised when people get caught by surprise when something goes awry. The Yogscast fiasco comes to mind.

Re: Nintendo Adds a Bunch of Virtual Console Titles to North American Web Store

GuySloth

During the Mega Man sale I was out of town with enough eShop credit for both Mega Man 6 & 7. However, I wasn't going to make it back home in time before the sale ended. I browsed the website to find a limited selection of VC titles available for purchase through Nintendo's website so I called them to see what options were available to me. In the end they told me to have somebody access my Wii U to purchase it for me - not exactly the best or even a reasonable solution. Glad to see they're making progress.

Re: Lucky New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Gamers Jump Straight to eBay to Flog Systems

GuySloth

If you're a mega fan and not lucky enough to receive an e-mail than those that are listing the new 3DS are allowing you to get a product that you had no chance of getting before. These people were selected and they gave their money to Nintendo to purchase the system. What they do with it afterwards is up to them and there's clearly a demand for these systems. I am in NA so this situation doesn't apply to me but screaming out for these people to be crucified is ridiculous.
