Re: UK Charts: Zelda: Link's Awakening Drops To Second As FIFA 20 Shoots and Scores

GuruOfGreatness

Been gaming (with Nintendo always being my number one brand) for 29 years, and have barely ever so much as touched a Zelda game as they were just never fully my thing, and I generally lose interest once I get majorly stuck on a bit.

However, I started to get into them somewhat with the Windwaker HD on the Wii U, and then some 3DS Zeldas, and bought Links Awakening HD the other day, and I absolutely love it.

I may be around 25 years late with this one, but it was definitely worth every penny

Re: Power Stone Producer Would Love To See A New Entry On Nintendo Switch

GuruOfGreatness

Lord yes, PowerStone 3 would be day one for me. Hell, take my money now.

Was my favourite fighting game(s) of all time until Christmas just gone when I got Smash Ultimate and after 21 years, I FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLY "got it", and understood what all the Smash fuss and magic was about.

This subsequently now puts PowerStone in second place, but damn, it held its title for me as best fighting game (that isn't an N64 wrestling game) for 2 decades, and TBH, if Smash Ultimate is a 10/10 for me, then PowerStone 2 is a 9.9/10

Re: Executive Producer Of Wolfenstein: Youngblood Says The Switch Version Is "A Miracle"

@MoonKnight7

Hmmmmmmm.......thank you. I thought that might be the situation.

Bit of a predicament now, as I LOVE the Wolfenstein games, and GAME has it for £34.99 with a 3 month Switch Online pass, so it saves me a few quid in September too to renew my membership. Got my pre-order too.

But, much like i never caved in and got Sonic Mania when it was just a box with a code in, as I always assumed that due to it's sales and high praise, that it would get a physical release, and it did, so I bought it; I would guess that maybe one day Wofenstein will get the same treatment.

So in general, you usually turn up to discussions to complain about something or voice your opinion as fact, but irrespective of that, now you have stooped to an all time low and had a dig at/questioned someone's parenting skills and their methods, as well as stating quite possibly the most moronic thing by alluding that any online harassment from Nintendos service may toughen a child up, and that worse things in life await her.

You clearly are not a parent yourself, as if you were, I would like to think you would realise how stupid you actually made yourself sound, and what a ridiculous thing that would be to say to either a parent or child.

Re: It Looks Like The Final Japanese 3DS Title Has Been Canned

GuruOfGreatness

At just under 8 and a half years on the market, does anyone else see Nintendo to continue cashing in on the 3DS family until the 10 year anniversary mark, whereby they release some super special edition of the console?

Personally, I hope Nintendo keep doing whatever works for them and makes them money; they're a business at the end of the day.

If I had an older product that still continued to sell even after I had released a new product, therefore having both products make me money, why would I stop selling the old product?

Re: Review: Assassin's Creed III Remastered - The Franchise Runt Gets A Clunky Switch Port

GuruOfGreatness

Number 3 will always hold a soft spot for me, as it still is the only AC game that I've ever completed (the story that is, not 100% it).

I always liked the idea behind the AC game(s), but was never able to get very far with them, as they are such long games that I simply never had the time for, and couldn't hog the TV to play as well (am currently having the same problem with Odyssey on Xbox One X; bought the console and game as an impulse buy last November and never really find the time to play it, yet I LOVE the game, but there is not a chance in hell I will ever even have the time to ever complete the base story, let alone any DLC and all the side missions, which is why I will also never buy Red Dead Redemption 2 unless it comes to Switch).

The Wii U however changed all that for me; I completed nearly the whole game using just the GampePad (with just a few sessions on the big TV) whilst my wife could watch her crappy TV programmes.

So I feel I may end up caving in and getting it again as I can enjoy it once again on the Switch without ever needing the TV (though I will naturally take those very rare occasions and play big when I get the chance lol). It's not a priority though as I want to complete Saints Row 3 first, and I still want Sonic Racing and Yoshi's Crafted World.

I have always wondered why number 3 gets the hate it does, but then, I'm hardly a hardcore AC pro.

p.s I am actually very guilty of having the always considered wonderful "Black Flag" for the Wii U sitting on my shelf for about 4 years now, still sealed/shrinkwrapped, so I have absolutely no idea if the game is as good as what people say it is, I just know it gets a lot of love. I'll eventually crack it open lol.

Re: Review: Sniper Elite V2 Remastered - The Ball-Busting Shooter Is Back, Warts And All

GuruOfGreatness

I had it on the Wii U but traded it in. Sadly this was in the early days when trading in a Wii U game was normal to me, as little did I know that rebuying them years later would cost me double or more of what I originally paid due to the consoles and games scarcity

However, I am a sucker for anything World War 2 so will probably cave in and get this again, though I might wait for number 3 to come out first and get that as I've never played it.

Re: 3DS Sales Might Be Lower, But The Demand Is Still Stable

GuruOfGreatness

Doesn't surprise me at all. Surely if it still brings them in a modest income then it's worth keeping and supporting. They're a business trying to make money, so if the 3DS still makes them money, why stop?

It has fantastic value and a monstrous library of games, no need to kill it yet whatsoever, especially if they have/do stop producing new titles for it and just focus on selling/manufacturing the games they already DO have for it, then surely it'll just continue to bring in revenue for them at very little cost.

I'm still in the minority that thinks it'll hit the 10 year mark in March 2021, and that Nintendo will release an Anniversary Edition 3DS of some sort.

Re: Reminder: Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn Launches Today - Nintendo's Final Major 3DS Release?

GuruOfGreatness

Got my copy from GAME this lunch time. Probably be ages until I finally open it and play it, but still happy to have it.

As for killing the 3DS off; if it still generates Nintendo money, why would/should they kill it off?

When it's not worth their time and effort to support it, then I'd say it's worth selling off their stock and calling it a day.

But I think they could just reduce the models they have to a final reduction price to simplify it (and perhaps just officially offer the 2DS, New 2DS XL and New 3DS XL) , and live off the sales of those and the MASSIVE 3DS (and DS) library that already exists, without even creating/releasing any more games for it.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

GuruOfGreatness

Physical all the way.

I love the box art too much, the feeling of ownership with the case on my shelf, and I love feeling that I've actually purchased something from a shop when I leave.

I will never convert to digital until the games are at least 50% of the price of physical, and until there is some weird way that gives you the ability to trade them back in.

Even then though, digital also throws away any chance of a particular game becoming a collectors item, so meh, I still don't know lol.

@Medic_alert

Sorry about that, I don't think you pushed reply so I had no idea that you had responded to my query lol.

Thank you very much though

Hopefully put my mind at ease that my X isn't a dud (although the controller does feel a bit used for a console that's barely been touched since I got it last month, though this could just be my OCD wreaking havoc with me lol; I just wouldn't expect the analogue sticks or the triggers to move so freely when it's brand new out of the box; and the home button really needs to be pushed down far/deep on this model to get back to the home menu, I don't remember needing to do that on my original Xbox One).

p.s I got Odyssey last night from GAME for £34.99 when their sale started. Just need Red Dead Redemption 2 and Battlefield V for around the £30 mark now lol.

Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2018 Deals

GuruOfGreatness

@Medic_alert

I will definitely get Oddyssey, but I am a strictly physical games only guy lol.

I like the X too, although I won't lie, I do not have a 4K TV, so I don't really know what I'm missing out on visually.

I'm impressed with what I've seen and played so far, but don't know how different it would look in 4K.

The only reason I got an X over the S was because a) I managed to get it thrown in with a new TV I was getting for mine and my wife's bedroom for an amazing price (the new TV Is not a 55 inch 4K one though), and b) the repayments were only a couple of quid extra per month, so I thought meh, might as well go for the best of the best as it where.

Considering I'm a guy that really doesn't care about graphics, the latest mod cons and technology etc, and I am in fact pretty much a 32 year old technophobe, I surprised a lot of people, myself included when I got the X lol.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I do have a question about the console if you don't mind? Is the X supposed to run faster when booting up the console and installing games etc? I have all the energy saving modes etc set on, as with a wife, children and two businesses, I very rarely find time to fame full stop (I will NEVER see the ending of Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2 when I've got them lol, unless it's on YouTube), but I just thought it would run really quickly considering it's meant to be so powerful. Could just be me though, or knowing my luck I've got a dud. Just doesn't seem any quicker than when I used to have the original Xbox One.

Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2018 Deals

@Medic_alert

Completely agree about price drop race, as lovely as it is to see a top game for £10 instead of £40, IMO it just goes to also show how saturated the games market it as most games are extremely similar; usually FPS or some form of apocalyptic open world game.

I guess this is why I love Nintendo games and am happy to pay full price for them, because we don't get yearly installments of all their franchises. If we did, they too would become more worthless IMO.

This is why I HATE yearly installments of games, because as good as they are on release day, within two or three months they are yesterdays news and everyone has moved on and is awaiting the next installment.

One of the reasons I picked up an Xbox One X last month was because of Assassins Creed Oddyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2, amongst a small handful of other games I missed.

There was no chance in hell I was paying £50 for Assassins Creed Oddyssey when if I wait until tonight or tomorrow, I will undoubtedly be able to pick it up for £25

Red Dead Redemption 2 on the other hand, is only the second installment of a franchise in 8/9 years, which, again, IMO gives it that extra special, non watered down, worth every penny on launch day feel to it.

I don't own the game yet as the first game I got for the X was last years WW2 COD, as I LOVE WW1 and WW2 games, which is why I was bitterly disappointed when I saw Battlefield V's incredibly short campaign. I was expecting them to put the effort in like they did with Battlefield 1

Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2018 Deals

GuruOfGreatness

Does anyone else not care if Nintendo IP games never have any/much discount on Black Friday (or at any other time of the year really)?

I guess my reasoning is that I simply have no issue paying £40-£50 for a Nintendo game at any time of year, as not only do I know I will probably enjoy it more than other developers games, but the replay value for Nintendo games is kind of everlasting IMO, and I will very, very, very rarely ever feel I want to trade a Nintendo IP game in.

I could not however bring myself any more to pay £50 for a PS4 or Xbox One game full stop, let alone at this time of year when they will all be reduced to half price or less, and subsequently traded in within a year after completion.

This of course could just be me, but I'm just curious.
