UK chart data is now in for the week ending 25th May, and it shows that Sonic has bested his old rival Mario in the all formats charts and raced to the front of the pack, keeping PS4 exclusive Days Gone from number 1 just as Rage 2 did last week, although that game has slipped three places from the top spot.
Of course, new arrival Team Sonic Racing is appearing on multiple platforms, so it's no surprise that it has burned past the plumber's two-year-old Switch game in its debut week. In fact, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the only Switch exclusive troubling the top 10 this week, with Team Sonic Racing joining fellow cross format entries FIFA 19 and Mortal Kombat 11 at 3 and 7 respectively.
Bubbling under the top 10 is the evergreen Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 11, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe at 14 (down from 10) and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! hanging on in there at number 20. New entry Assassin's Creed III Remastered comes in at 15, although it'll be interesting to see where that is next week given its lukewarm reception on Switch.
Here's a look at this week's top twenty all formats chart:

I'm surprised that Anthem is even continuing to sell.
I guess with a heavily discounted price of £26, it does anyway.
I wonder what Team Sonic Racing's sales are like for individual platforms? It feels like a case where the Switch version might be the most popular despite being the inferior version.
@dartmonkey The first source link is off. https://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110032
@RupeeClock the PS4 version sold more. PS4 and Switch versions are 2 & 3 in individual rankings.
I bet it will drop out of the top 10 by next week
Great result considering all the negativity leading up to release.
@Jaxad0127 I just double checked and its working now. Thanks
It's bang average and will be out the charts in the next few weeks unlike mario kart which has been a staple in the top 10 for over 2 years now
@USWITCH64
The budget price does it a favour, it's only around £30, £35 on the eShop.
That said, only 15 characters and 21 tracks, 9 of which are recycled from previous games.
Team Sonic I am not sure about giving it a few goes but most of the time I ignore the chat in single player mode & still win the races lol great graphics on the switch love the look of it!!!
@RupeeClock I know I bought it but I'm glad I didn't buy off eshop as mine is now selling on eBay!
@USWITCH64
I'm expecting the price to drop further down the line, I'll grab it whenever it's a bargain.
That's what happened with Sonic Forces, I got it for £19.
@RupeeClock yeah I guess £19 is about right. Hoping CTR will be much better
TSR is extremely fun, and it has a lot of single player content. However, it desperately needs like 6 more characters and like 8 more tracks.
mario kart is still doing it for me that I don't feel the need for another cart racer in my life. but good to see sonic up there!
TSR UK launch sales are more than double of All Stars Transformed launch sales.
Once Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled release next month, Team Sonic Racing will disappear from the top ten.
Great to see a new game doing well on Switch. Even outsold the X1 version.
What happened to the list of excuses for when overpriced nonsense fail on Switch in the UK retail market... "People buy digital"... "UK hates NiN"... "Market share"... "The sun was up".
Speaking of... Most didn't care about a lazy rehash AC3 on any system. Not on Home consoles, not on a handheld. Shocking 🙄
@Agramonte Yeah, I only have AC3 as was included in the season pass for ACO over on PS4...
@NinjaWaddleDee I agree, I think it's a good alternative to Mario Kart. A few more tracks really would help. The online is a blast!!!!
@Ristar24 I have it from my ACO season pass on PC. Yet to download it.
The Fate of Atlantis Part 2 comes out on June 4th case you missed it 😀
Figures since I guess PS4/XBONE lack a real quality Kart Racing game. Course, with Crash Team Racing coming very soon, players will be spoiled for choice.
Pretty surprising that it's number 1 in the UK. I'm loving this game so far!
Birthday in a few days and I think my wife has bought me Assassins Creed 3 and Team Sonic Racing (both on the Switch)
@RupeeClock Thing is Sonic Forces was a massive let down with SEGA even pairing it with the more successful Sonic Mania just get more copies sold a poormans Generations hench why the price went down.
Team Sonic Racing on the other hand is actually a pretty great game dare I say almost as good as Mario Kart 8 since the reviews are good, and it's selling well I don't think it will go the same way as Forces just hope the next actual Sonic game is as good
@Angelic_Lapras_King Crash Team Racing will probably stay in the charts for like a year given what happened with the Crash trilogy.
@Agramonte ha, Im still at level 26 so not even on the first dlc yet, game is massive and limited gaming time...
Sonic would still be pretty popular in the UK I think. SEGA were really popular in the 90s here, so can trade on nostalgia like Nintendo can in the US.
Picked up Sonic Racing on the switch, but I owned the prior versions on PS3 and WiiU. I am having a blast playing it and thoroughly enjoy the light RPG elements they have added to the game. Keep me coming back for more and I won't say it's as polished as MK8; however, it is a refreshing take on the racing genre and a welcome addition to anyone's switch collection.
@GuruOfGreatness least you can sell them on eBay mate 😀
@USWITCH64
Not much point in that considering I asked for them
@GuruOfGreatness only joking
@USWITCH64 That would be a fine excuse... if this was a Nintendo only chart or SASRT or was a Wii U exclusive. But this isn’t a Nintendo only chart and All Stars Transformed also appeared on both XB360 and PS3, both consoles that were very successful within the region.
