Re: Guide: Every Arcade Archives Game On Nintendo Switch, Plus Our Top Picks

Gradius

Recommend Omega Fighter as a hidden gem. Super fun shoot 'em up with a nice risk/reward scoring system based off point blanking. Pretty ahead of it's time stuff for an '89 arcade game. Also, can't overstate how much online leaderboards and dedicated scoring modes add to the longevity of these ports. Wish all arcade ports or modern shoot 'em ups did the same as they add a lot of incentive to just get that little bit better. Plus, always nice to see other players into these niche releases.

I picked this up and am enjoying it. While I do play a lot of shmups I'm not hardcore to notice or let lag bother me, I just wish these ports had online leaderboards at least. All the Cave ports have them, other shooters like the Raidens, not to mention all the Hamster ports, which cost the exact same as the ZeroDiv ones. Not looking to top the leaderboard or anything, but still always nice to see how you compare against everyone, and give some incentive and satisfaction for getting better. Also, for a lot of players, these games will be a solo experience, so I always think it's great to see a well populated leaderboard and see there's a fanbase for these titles.

@Galenmereth But tell me, how can one even view this as a hit piece? Some of these events happened years ago, without developers bringing it out to the public, and current employees sound like they are still fearful to speak but did so because things had reached a limit. It's not like the article came out because the founder got called out on some #metoo movement, but to bring attention to what was happening to the people behind some of the games that many people love - not only to the Nicalis employees, but developers as well (you know, the people that actually create the games, which brings you to sites like this).

Are we more interested in protecting a guy that has multiple allegations against him from separate uncoordinated parties over a long period of time; or protecting the people that actually do the majority of the work to bring games to you, and even moreso, the developers, (and to reiterate again), without which these games would not even exist?

I guess what I'm asking is - what is the issue with making this an issue? What is there to champion and advocate for here? The rights of a publisher to act like an a-hole to everyone involved? This dude is not the only game in town.

Finally - I dunno if you read this part, but he's holding game patches back if they did not sell well enough. Do you think he's looking out for customers' and your best interests?

Re: Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says Gearbox President Randy Pitchford

Coming from the guy that's primarily made Borderlands games for the past 6 years. Oh wait, there's also other fps's Duke Nukem Forever, and screwing people over with Aliens: Colonial Marines. The only non-fps thing they've done is remastering Homeworld, another developer's game and an already established classic. And he has the gall to say Nintendo should branch out more? What a joke.
