Mega Crit and Humble Bundle have announced that Slay the Spire, a "card/roguelike" title currently available on PC, will be heading to Switch next year.
Slay the Spire attempts to blend the worlds of card games and roguelikes together to make a single-player deckbuilder with procedurally generated levels and enemies. Players must craft their own deck of cards, before encountering bizarre creatures, discovering relics of immense power, and attempting to achieve the game's ultimate aim: to Slay the Spire!
There are hundreds of cards to discover and add to your deck with each attempt at climbing the Spire. You'll need to select cards that work together to efficiently dispatch foes and reach the top, in an environment where the layout differs each time you play. You can choose a risky or safe path, face different enemies, choose different cards, discover different relics, and even fight different bosses with each playthrough.
The game has already sold over a million copies on PC, with Steam users rating the title as "overwhelmingly positive". Here's a list of features to give you a better idea of what you can expect to find:
Features:
Three core characters that each have their own unique set of cards. (With more planned)
200+ fully implemented cards.
50+ unique combat encounters.
100+ different items to be found.
Procedurally generated levels.
Tons of unlockables.

Already have 40hrs on PC. Heres to another 40 on the go!
I already have 200+ hrs played on PC and I would love to have it on the go. So this is a must have for me.
Ridiculous amount of fun, though admittedly, deck builders are my favorite type of card game. I am 160 hours in at the moment. Doubt I'll purchase this again, as I've been playing portable on my GPD WIN, but can't recommend this enough to everyone else.
For now I want to get Hand of Fate 2, but I will need to check this out eventually.
Looks cool. Reeeeeal cool. I never heard of this before right now, but I’m very interested.
@roadrunner343 Could you recommend some to me please? Its a newly discovered love of mine, and between these and rogues (as well as likes and lites), I'm in heaven. I have StS, Monster Slayers, One Deck Dungeon, Sentinals of the Multiverse, Card Dungeons, and Frost already.
@PhilKenSebben I don't actually have any digital games for your that you haven't already mentioned - I was primarily referring to physical games. Some of my favorites are Dominion, Ascension, and Mystic Vale, if you are interested in physical card games.
@roadrunner343 I'm planning on getting the first two! Thanks so much.
Fantastic game! Definitely a great fit for the Switch and another Day1 Indie for me personally. It's really cool to see all those old and new Steam favourites of mine slowly but surely making it's way to the Switch, esp. since most are not that demanding and do not "necessitate" (read: strongly benefit) from being played on a big screen on a beefy system.
I'm not saying I only want these games and Ninty AAA exclusives on the Switch, but at this pace and esp. if Ninty can pull of another year like 2017 in terms of quality AAA releases (maybe) next year, that would make the Switch worthwhile to me.
Obviously, I'd love to see more 3rd-party exclusives as well, and I am not opposed to more AAA ports, but most of the time the latter are just inferior and compromised editions that offer portability and nothing else at more or less significant cost to the experience.
Going forward, Nintendo would probably be best served with a decent mix of all of the above, and as far as indie coverage goes, this has been a good day! ^^ (If only they keep on top of curating the e-shop properly, so as to not to drown out quality content as the stores keeps filling up with all kinds of releases going the whole range from good to to bad to ugly).
@PhilKenSebben NP - I find they both scale really well with number of players - I enjoy them most with ~4 players, but still have had plenty of fun in 1v1 games. I prefer Dominion slightly, but my friend/brother prefer Ascension. Quite different deck builders, but I don't think you can go wrong with either. I also forgot that Ascension (And it's 4,000 expansions) has a digital version for Android/iOS, and it goes on sale frequently.
@roadrunner343 I'll definitely check out the android version. Been playing Necronomicon, Meteorfall, and Night of the Full Moon there a bit.
I like the different choices you can choose from in story events. I just hope the game isn't too hardcore for average card players. I haven't looked up any information online though, so who knows. The premise is pretty interesting though.
Wanty
@PhilKenSebben In addition to those that have been mentioned, look for Shadowrun: Crossfire if you can find it. The most amazing co-op deckbuilder I've ever played.
I wouldn't overlook Friday, either. It's small and simple but sort of a classic. Strictly solo play. Plays quick, small package, looks goofy as hell, but I never met a boardgamer who didn't think it was an amazing game.
The various Legendary games are good fun too, but seriously Shadowrun:CF is a masterpiece.
A few of my preferred Hearthstone streamers really liked this game, so with it coming to Switch I might finally have to give it a try.
@JasmineDragon I loves me some Shadowrun. I'll look into Friday too, thanks so much
yes! this game is perfect for a tablet or the Switch, can't wait for this!
@PhilKenSebben Also might want to check out Star Realms, from the same creator as Ascension.
