Monster Hunter X has a confirmed Japanese release date of November 28th, and to drum up interest in the new 3DS title Capcom recently livestreamed almost 30 minutes of footage.
The gameplay shows off some of the new fighting styles, one of which allows you to perform jumping attacks with any weapon. As any Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate player will tell you, the leap was previously exclusive to the Insect Glaive, and made that particular weapon a very popular choice.
There will be four fighting styles in the game, including the aforementioned aerial one. Another focuses on counter attacks, while a third allows you to revert back to the standard controls seen in previous titles. A fourth style will be available, but Capcom hasn't offered up any details as yet.
Monster Hunter X hasn't been confirmed for western release as yet, but seeing how well Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate did over here, it's surely only a matter of time.
The video below - put together by YouTuber Arekkz Gaming - also shows off some new locations and monsters. Arekkz has edited down the highlights of the original livestream to create a more easily digestible nine-and-a-half-minute video. Have a watch and let us know what you think.

Ooh, leaping option to other weapons will definitely reduce the IG's popularity a bit. Although shooting monsters and micro-managing extracts is still a keeper, along with that awesome attack speed and long range.
Seeing this, I have to continue with my MH4U game. Still have to complete all quests and get all armours/weapons.
I got so excited because I thought this was FFIX when I first looked.
@Komodo182: What made you make the connection to FF9? Other than the airships, I don't see the similarities.
Bring it over here Capcom! We need more Monster Hunter in our lives!
It's pretty cool that Nargacuga is returning, it will be fun trying to mount it.
Man such amazing new stuff. MH is my favorite game franchise and they keep improving the formula ^_^.
Part of me really wants a new entry on the Wii U, even if it is just a ported version of the 3DS game.
The game seems pretty solid. I was always a fan of the monster hunter franchise, so I can't wait for this one. But I'm curious to see if this monster hunter, will have any major change added to it. So this monster has a twist of sorts.
@-Godot Reminds me of the Festival of the Hunt in Lindblum.
Ready to preorder the day it is announced!
