Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade Staff Picks - Xenoblade Chronicles

GoblinKing86

Operation Rainfall was a sight to behold and a wonderful thing. Unfortunately that doesn't work today as many have tried repeatedly to get a petition off the ground to get Next Level Games and Nintendo to fix the highly anti-consumer, game breaking issue in Luigi's Mansion 3; no inverted y axis. The proper way to play has been featured in every game for the last 2 decades, it isn't something the majority have had to worry about, so when LM3 released nobody could have expected their $60 purchase would be a paperweight. But never fear! Patches are here! Except it's 8 months later and the highly anti-consumer issue still hasn't been addressed. Even worse, media outlets such as this one, don't even care enough about fans' accessibility rights, pro-consumer options, or if their readers can even play the games they review, otherwise they would continually be making a fuss out of this incredibly severe issue that plagues millions currently.

If this anti-consumer issue doesn't resonate with you, and you feel the need to chastise, you're part of the problem. If you're not affected but care about equality, please, take to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, customer service, etc and hound Next Level Games, Doug Bowser, and Nintendo. If you're a journalist and have been ignoring this too, change your anti-consumer ways and step up. If you're like me and one of those who cannot physically play, don't give up. Many stand with you and if they refuse to fix this, you should rightly boycott anything NLG releases from here in out.

Re: Talking Point: The Time Is Right For Microsoft And Nintendo To Get Comfier With One Another

GoblinKing86

Okay, for starters and to clear the air : No Xbox exclusives have come to Nintendo Switch and Phil has already gone on record stating they won't be bringing any more owned IPs to Switch. All of the games that have come to Switch from that side of the pond where already multiplatform titles that the developer wished to port to Switch, and during the time MS had not yet either owned the studio or the IP. All they did was honor plans already in motion. Nintendo and Microsoft were not playing nice, aside from B&K in Smash.

Secondly, Phil has already taken the brand 3rd party so if they get cozy with Nintendo it only stands to reason they'd get cozy with Sony as well.

Hopefully this will eliminate all the less informed people who will scream "Nintendo needs to give Microsoft something in return". A little fact checking goes a long way.

Re: Feature: Fallout Creator On The Outer Worlds, Working Partnerships, And The Games He Plays These Days

GoblinKing86

@TAndvig Right, games should be much better than TW3 in all aspects before they can be considered good. That was a truly awful game, easily one of the worst this gen.

Anyway, Outer Worlds just hasn't gotten its hooks into me yet. I keep trying to find a reason to care about the world and keep playing. Oh well, proves my long-standing point; never buy a game because it's on sale, if it wasn't worth full price then a cheaper price tag won't make it more enjoyable. Amazing how some people can justify that, as if the mechanics or quality change because it's cheaper.

Re: Sega's Game Gear Micro Was Originally Going To Be Even More Stingy

GoblinKing86

"A cloud gaming service for arcades"... Well, gamers have failed if true. Gamepass should have never been supported on its anti-consumer properties alone, nevermind the fact that it's a rip off. Now here we might have yet another anti-consumer subscription service to add onto the multitude of others. I suppose the only difference here though is it won't feature the same games as 4 other services do simultaneously, so even the smartest gamer (sarcasm) doesn't have to throw $20+ at one game they won't play across multiple services every month.

If you're a Gamepass supporter, you're destroying this hobby for real gamers. Stop pretending to be a gamer and go elsewhere.

Re: Platinum Already Thinking About More Self-Published Games After Success Of The Wonderful 101: Remastered

GoblinKing86

All well and good, I'm happy for them. However, they should have realized long before they announced the delay of the physical version (of which I'm not opening) that giving everyone who backed it a Steam code was probably the worst option. I myself will never support Steam, Valve, or Newell on moral reasons, but the decision to offer a digital code in apology for the delay should have resulted in a digital code for the respective platform they backed it on. While I wish them well on self-publishing, this was the first time I used Kickstarter and even though their apology/offer was kind and unnecessary, it was severely misguided. That move alone ensures that next time, I'll wait for it to be released proper.

In the end I was grabbing the digital version to play and physical to collect anyway, so it didn't hinder me, it just sits funny and soured what should have been a good experience.

Re: UK Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Goes Straight To Number One

GoblinKing86

@Agramonte Travesty? Not so much. If Next Level Games reversed their anti-consumer approach and patched in an inverted y axis their sales would increase by the millions. As it stands though, it's been 7 months and many people cannot play a game they own, and many more won't buy it until it's patched. Keep in mind a patch for this wouldn't take much effort, but they did pump out two paid DLC packs despite their very vocal community bringing this severe anti-consumer issue to their attention.

Re: Random: At Reggie's First E3, Someone Thought He Was A Security Guard

GoblinKing86

I miss Reggie. He was friendly, he covered issues in gaming, he looked out for everyone or just a single fan because he knew that all of us enjoyed this hobby. Unlike Doug Bowser, who continues to ignore the anti-consumer issue with Luigi's Mansion 3 and how Millions cannot play it. I myself have owned it since launch, completely unable to play, and every day I've made my voice heard for him to ignore it and many others. The devs are no better. This wouldn't have happened under Reggie's watch. No one will ever compare to Reggie.

Re: Random: Could This Be The Most Pointless Switch Accessory Yet?

GoblinKing86

It is pointless, but you have to remember we are a society that champions screen protectors for whatever reason despite them being the most useless accessory for everything with a screen. I have no doubt this will sell well, and it will have its defenders despite (like screen protectors) the sheer stupidity surrounding the idea itself. Probably greatly overpriced as well.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Suffering From Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fatigue?

GoblinKing86

I play this game every morning for at least an hour, just to hit the basics, then go off onto something else. Yesterday I got the Platinum for Days Gone, then relaxed with ACNH. Tomorrow I'll shoot some grubs in Gears 5 with a friend, and when that's done relax with a whiskey drink and ACNH.

Honestly, this was the first AC title I "got", and while I understand it isn't for everyone, it eventually will be. A gamer can only hold out for so long. Here's to the continued rise of Animal Crossing.

Re: Switch Joy-Con Drift Claim Must Be Arbitrated, Says Illinois Federal Court

GoblinKing86

Oh ffs, take better care of your controllers people. Every single joystick out there will eventually have this problem without question, it's how you're operating it that's the problem. You don't grind the gears in an automobile then take the company to court for "damages".

This is just a small minded person trying to get rich with a quick scheme, nothing more.

Re: Nintendo Says It Will Continue To Increase The Appeal Of The Switch Online Service

GoblinKing86

@Alaninho Eh, I don't consider the majority of "gamers" as actual gamers. Hopping online to stream CoD playing deathmatch after deathmatch is bottom of the barrel, equal in line with mobile gaming. It's more of you're occupying your time with something that you don't have to be invested in than enjoying an entertainment medium for the narrative and experience. Basically having Netflix on in the background replaying a show you've seen 100x over while you browse Facebook on your phone. All in all, most online-focused gamers aren't actually gamers, and the industry (as in, quality for real gamers) would improve vastly if most of these types of games disappeared.

Re: Video: Performance Is "Still An Issue" In The Switch Version Of The Wonderful 101

GoblinKing86

@zool Nintendo didn't make this game, and nobody should ever support such an anti-consumer practice as mid-gen upgrades. Seeing people talk about the lack of power in Switch because of one poorly optimized game is beyond ridiculous, especially when it's long been proven otherwise.

If you're playing games because of the specs, you're doing it wrong. At that point you're not a gamer, you're a hobbyist. Get a PC and modify it with all the top of the line parts you couldn't string together in a single breath and watch how your enjoyment won't increase at all when playing the same games as actual gamers.

Re: Paper Mario's Switch Reveal Adds More Weight To 64, Sunshine, Galaxy Remaster Reports

GoblinKing86

Origami King looks excellent, nobody can complain about that presentation. As for the remasters, if I get SM64 and Sunshine I'll be more than content. Galaxy, while fun, wore off quickly. I don't even remember most of the game beyond the first few stages. Galaxy 2 can just die right off though. Very clear it was just a collection of discarded stages they lumped together and repackaged as a new game. Aside from NSMB2, that's quite possibly the worst Mario game (by Nintendo) ever made.

Re: Nintendo Accused Of Hosting Asset Flip Game On Switch, And Fans Aren't Happy

GoblinKing86

Tbf, 90% of indie titles (and AAA titles) aren't worth the money. I can't imagine going into a storefront (digital or not) and wading through ***** to find something that might pique my interest. I live by the rule that if you're going into a storefront of any kind, know exactly what you are getting and go directly to it. Use gaming sites and YouTube to check out what is being released. Use cheapassgamer and various other sites to shop for deals, then type in the game's title and avoid the chaff. If you're really perusing the eShop (or any other digital storefront without doing research first), it's because you're bored and want something to kill time. Go do something else. If you seriously bought this game, you don't need a game console.

Re: The Pokémon Company Begins To Ban Sword And Shield Players Who Deliberately Disconnect From Online Battles

GoblinKing86

@nessisonett Sorry, but no that isn't a better way. These people are cheaters, being cheated does nothing for them except make them go 'oh well' and start another round with the hopes of being first to cheat this time. If you intentionally break the ToU, you should absolutely be completely banned from ever playing that title again. If that means no more PvP, then sorry but you up. You have no rights to the game as you violated the initial agreement and anyone willing to ruin the game for someone else doesn't deserve to play with others ever.

MY enjoyment should never hinder on whether you want to be a decent human being or an, but if you so choose to be an, you deserve to come out with the worst possible outcome.

Re: Random: Animal Crossing Players Are Getting In Trouble On Facebook For Talking About Weeds

GoblinKing86

Kind of silly if you're aware of the difference and considering it's Animal Crossing, I highly doubt anyone would ever associate willingly with the plant itself. That whole culture is just pure garbage, and give a bad name to those who need it medically or the applications that we can develop with it. It's something I've never imagined a full grown, responsible, respectable adult would even partake in (and I've yet to see a mature adult partake, no you reading this who are offended, it's definitely not you) and when they whine about it when they're caught or some other ****, they just seem worse than any tantrum a typical 2 yr old could throw. Regardless, Facebook is garbage too and while this is funny, it's limiting.

Re: The Second Multiplayer DLC Pack For Luigi's Mansion 3 Is Available Now

GoblinKing86

@pek727 Hell, I've owned it since launch and have yet to play it because well, I physically can't. No inverted y axis means millions can't play, and I've seen numerous people all over social media who would buy it if it had this feature. Honestly it's appalling it doesn't, as it's been an industry standard for well over a decade, and in 2019 nobody was even thinking that it would have been excluded.

How the proper way to play was left out is baffling, the radio silence from all forums to contact the devs, Nintendo, even the media is even more baffling, and how journalists like those here have left millions of us high and dry is beyond insulting. Nobody seems to care that they released an anti-consumer game and have yet to fix it but had the audacity to release two multiplayer packs, especially when their first two games had the feature. Also shame on gamers who don't stand for all of us.

Re: The Retail Release Of The Wonderful 101: Remastered Has Been Delayed

GoblinKing86

I'm fine with the delay, I backed the physical version and was planning on purchasing the digital the day of release. I wish they would give people the digital code for the platform they backed, as Steam is useless to me and I'll never support them, but I'm not complaining. I'll most likely give the code away to a friend and maintain my plan.

Re: Burnout Paradise Remastered Speeds Onto Switch This June, But It's Pretty Pricey

GoblinKing86

@sixrings Nintendo didn't "pay" Platinum for Bayonetta, they fully funded and published it since nobody else would. There's a huge difference with that and someone throwing a blank check at EA for a partnership deal. And besides, this isn't new for EA to intentionally screw Nintendo fans over, they've been holding a grudge since Wii U after Nintendo refused to give them complete control of their online systems which in hindsight, was a good thing. Anyone who is a Nintendo fan and owns another platform should never buy an EA title because you are further perpetuating the notion that it's okay for them to treat Nintendo fans this way.

Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash

GoblinKing86

The sympathy for the kid is amazing, HE'S the victim? Sorry, no. He absolutely knew what he was doing, and I don't believe it otherwise. He was already well informed of what the program would do, altered it, and now wants to run back to mommy. Even worse is when companies look at something like this and give praise. It isn't basic supply and demand, this isn't happening with PS4 and Xbox 1, it was very clearly targeted (given the time frame he most likely wanted a particular Switch) and it got out of hand. He's fully responsible, scalping in and of itself should be a serious crime without question, and intentionally finding ways to make that activity easier should result in a lifetime ban of internet capable electronics.

Hand me a doggie bag full of and tell me it's candy, but don't get upset when I throw it in your face and call you a moron for thinking I'd believe it.

Re: Video: 19 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In May

GoblinKing86

I've already got TW101R pre-ordered, physical copy of course so I get the Kickstarter cover art and whatever else it comes with, but will buy the digital version the day it launches so I never have to open the case. That'll count for 2, Xenoblade will be my 3rd for the month. Otherwise there's nothing else for me there.

Re: It's Been Three Years Since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Was Released On Nintendo Switch

GoblinKing86

@Paraka I'm fine with no dlc as well, for one reason; it's the Deluxe edition. As stated in the article it enhanced the original game, included all previously released dlc, added some characters and a new mode. It's a complete package. You can't call it "deluxe edition" if you're going to release dlc down the road. Asking for dlc is simply baffling, as they created it for this updated release and marketed it as the definitive version. That'd be like getting Skyrim dlc today just because it's been out for awhile and a new Elder Scrolls hasn't come out.

Those who have been asking for dlc, should have been asking for MK9, which we will get most likely in 2022, with an announcement next year.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 10.0.1 Is Now Live

GoblinKing86

It'd be nice to see an update for Luigi's Mansion 3 to make it, you know, playable. How they could have released it completely broken, lacking industry standard accessibility options that are well over a decade old is baffling. Nearly 6 months since launch and I still cannot play a game I've owned since day 1, nor can millions of others.

Why has NintendoLife not done their part and pressed Next Level Games for an answer to this severe issue? Had this been Anthem or Sea of Thieves, the media would have been all over them (and they were, rightly so) but because it's a Nintendo title we're to overlook a complete lack of pro-consumer accessibility options? Especially one that leaves the game utterly unplayable? Even worse, in an age where you shouldn't have to worry about it (as EVERY game over the last decade+ included it), not a single review prior to launch mentioned it, or did anything more than casually refer to it after the game came out and then forgot about it? Mafia King Tom Nook must have a firm grip on you and other media outlets to keep you guys quiet, because you've contributed to the massive failure when it comes to standing up for gamers.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Graphics - The Most Beautiful Switch Games

GoblinKing86

It's a shame regarding Luigi's Mansion 3 though. Millions of us still cannot play it nearly 6 months after release because they won't patch in the inverted y axis. We who play the right way cannot revert back to the dark ages of 3D gaming, and gyro aiming really isn't helpful. This would be an amazing game, if we could play it, but NextLevelGames gets no praise for this title especially when their last two featured this by default. Pro-consumer accessibility options that have been standard for well over a decade shouldn't be a concern, but even worse than that missing is the fact that media outlets like this one failed gamers entirely by not making it well known. $60 paperweight since launch, paid DLC released, but no pro-consumer accessibility options patched in. Shame on them, shame on the media.

Re: New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Is Driving The Scalpers Market In North America

GoblinKing86

They should be charged, jailed, and fined. For someone to think this would be 'funny' already shows they aren't healthy mentally, but to then think about reselling, scalping, and otherwise willingly be one of the lowest forms of life, they deserve a harsh punishment starting with a lifetime without any sort of electronics that can connect to the internet. Anyone who defends them or argues this deserves the same. Scalpers are not to be given an inch of leeway under any circumstances whatsoever. Be a decent human being or jump in a volcano.

Re: Random: Reggie Says Animal Crossing: New Horizons Should Give Out More Star Fragments - Do You Agree?

GoblinKing86

@BranJ0 Why not? He's one of the very, very few people in the gaming industry who you can look up to, respect, and always depend on to say it straight even if it's something you don't want to hear but since it's coming from him, you won't be mad about. When we have people like Phil Spencer constantly wanting you to sign up for his numerous anti-consumer subscription services, who lies to your face, who blatantly false advertises his product, Reggie is a godsend.

Re: Experts Comment On Animal Crossing: New Horizons' "Overwhelming Sales Momentum"

GoblinKing86

@Crockin I'm sorry but I have to argue, Nintendo is more hardcore oriented than casual oriented. By your own words you describe gamers and the hobby itself, "all walks", a gamer lives in variety, Nintendo is a gamers paradise. The casual " gamers", are the ones who spend all day on Twitch playing nothing but CoD or Madden or FIFA, they're the ones who typically use the terms hardcore and casual to justify their huge collection of 3 games each generation because they have no true ties to the gaming world. Please do not lump us gamers in with those by confusing them as real gamers or "hardcore". A hardcore gamer would go from a JRPG to a realistic racer to a loot shooter to a Yoshi title without hesitation. A casual would mock anyone who would play anything that isn't GTA or CoD.

Finally, stop saying AC is successful because of the pandemic, that's far from the truth and shadowing the pure draw and luster of the series.

Re: Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair Update Makes The Final Stage Easier To Beat

GoblinKing86

@Anthracks because everyone has the exact same response time, reflexes, and ability to play games as you do right? Never once did you think that the whole point to gaming is about one's own individual enjoyment and that what you mind find entertaining others might be pushed away from or even discouraged to find if they weren't warmed prior? Yes it's called the impossible lair and rightly so it's difficult, but adding a difficulty option of any sort DOES NOT AFFECT YOU in the slightest. Your entitlement is just as bad as the Sea of Thieves playerbase attacking those who want a PVE only server to enjoy the game their way. You know what their argument is? Oh it's pirates so we're allowed to be or, if they did that the population would diminish... Because it hasn't already right? If people can't play a game they are interested in the way they want to, especially when it is solely their experience, they simply won't play at all. Gamers and developers alike should encourage players, not arbitrarily lock them behind entitled behavior and pride/ego.

Tl;Dr... get off your high horse and let others have fun.

Re: The Pokémon Company Threatens To "Permanently Ban" Players Who Deliberately Disconnect From Battles

GoblinKing86

@AlexSora89 Because you agree to a ToU before you even connect to the internet for the first time. They can absolutely tell who was disconnected by a force of nature and who intentionally disconnected, so a ban is the right way to go. Pitting rage quitters against their own kind still allows them to play, and in my opinion if you cheat/break the ToU, you don't deserve to ever play again. As for paying for online, that only furthers that you should be banned since you paid for the privilege to play online and you were inconsiderate enough to go out of your way and ruin the experience for those around you.

Re: Wave of Closures And Possible Development Delays Follow CERO Shutdown In Japan

GoblinKing86

Yup, let's destroy millions of lives to protect a few thousand and send our economy into the next great depression. Smart!

People get sick, sometimes they die, it is highly unfortunate... But shutting down an entire nation is the equivalent of burning down a house because you found a spider in it. Sadly there's only a few of us saying this, as most people want a free vacation, which in my opinion is the greater evil of the two.

Re: Random: Stephen Fry Is Somewhat Perplexed By Animal Crossing: New Horizons

GoblinKing86

@gergelyv You should. I've a family of 4 and we have 2 of every console. We gameshare, so my account buys any and every game digitally, typically on a flash sale, and everyone gets access to it so two people can always play at once. Plus, this alleviates the ever growing pains of games that lack couch co-op since you'll always be playing "online".

Really, in 2020 it's a complete mindboggle why a family wouldn't have 2 systems of a single brand. You're basically saying in 2010, "I will always go to Blockbuster and never use Netflix"....

Re: Xbox Adaptive Controller Allows Inspiring Gamer To Play Animal Crossing On Switch

GoblinKing86

@graysoncharles To be fair, you can't hate on Microsoft for this, even if it is the ONE good thing this generation out of their many, many follies. Everyone gets one right? The better question is, how are you so jaded to think someone who dislikes Xbox (and rightfully so with how much they've lied to their fans, abused the industry, and repeatedly peddle anti-consumer services and practices) would dislike something that brings this wonderful hobby to more people? A blind fanboy is a blind fanboy, but a gamer is intelligent enough to see both the good and the bad, with Microsoft having a lot of bad and very little good.
