Re: The State Of The Switch eShop Is "Heartbreaking" Says No More Robots Boss

Gelantious

No huge discounts for 2 year old games? So that's why I've never heard of these guys nor have any of their games.

And a lot of devs tell a different story, especially on Steam. Once they dropped their price by 70%+ they started selling tons. And earned more then when their games were new and sold at full price.
Especially for indi devs like this.

With that said, yeah the eshop is terrible...

Re: Legal Crackdown On Mario 64 PC Port Not Enough To Stop Modders From Improving It

Gelantious

@retro_player_77
You can't fight it, the industry will survive by adapting. Bethesda, while they are a greedy crummy company. Have seen this and is allowing mods for their games, even on consoles to some extent.

Nintendo is a relic in this regard, they could have embraced this opportunity and even made some money of it by officially releasing and selling the game on PC.

Not like they are going to sell any more N64's because of this game anyways, so no reason not to release it on other platforms.

They already sold their soul by releasing mobile games, so only a matter of time now anyways.

Re: That Rumoured HD Remaster Of The Mass Effect Trilogy Might Be Coming To Switch

Gelantious

@Varkster
The biggest reason why the ending was looked at so harshly is that the game makers seriously made a big deal about choice. How you played mattered. Only to have the same 3(4) options at the end for everyone and nothing you did before mattered at all...

Play through the game and flip a coin at every decision and you'll still end up with the same options at the end. Except for one or two decisions in the second game that would end the story there.
They basically just copied Deus Ex's ending which is awfully lazy.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the series. Played through it 6 or 7 times and it's awesome. But yeah, the ending really is meh.. So much that I stop after the citadel party the last couple of playthroughs.

Re: CD Projekt Signs New Deal With The Witcher Author Andrzej Sapkowski

CPR have said they are done with Geralt, but possible we'll get to follow some of the other characters. Wouldn't mind a full blown game with Ciri for example.

Or as others mentioned, create our own witcher character.
They are dipping their toes into multiplayer with Cyberpunk, if that goes well then a full blown co-op game in the witcher world would be awesome.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Slaps Down Demands For Nintendo Switch Exclusive Astral Chain On PS4

Gelantious

@Mr_Muscle
Right, you'll buy a used console, it breaks within a month, no warranty. You buy another, and another and so on...
OR, just use a PC which can play everything, no matter how old it is. Thanks to virtualization you can run everything on a modern PC. And then there's gog.com which updates old games so you can skip the virtualization step even.

Don't get me wrong, I love consoles and collect as much as the next person. But logically the PC is and will always be superior both in power and backwards compatibility. So would prefer to see the console makers embrace that, rather then trying to ignore it and then have their old games/systems end up being emulated/pirated.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Slaps Down Demands For Nintendo Switch Exclusive Astral Chain On PS4

Gelantious

Seems weird to me that PS4 people are complaining about it, since they are usually the first ones to bring up exclusives as a selling point for their machine.

So they want the cake and eat it too?

And I'd rather see the game being released on PC then any other console. Can wait until the switch is old gen, but for historic purpose PC is the best platform since it'll never go away as the consoles do. (meaning once a console stops being manufactured and your old one breaks then you're boned if you want to play a game for it).

Re: Random: Not All Joy-Con Are Created Equal

Gelantious

Looks fine to be, but then again the original ones are horrible for those of us with larger hands. Would love to get a pair with proper sticks and better grip, right now they are gathering dust and the pro controller is used for everything.

Re: Don't Expect Netflix's Witcher Show To Copy The Video Games

Gelantious

@Damo
The reason he hates the games is greed and his own stupidity.
He refused royalties because he didn't think the games would sell, and then he got pissed when they did. Went so far that he's actually trying to get money from CDPRED by dragging them to court in Poland.

He may be a good author, but he's a terrible greedy human being.
And again, without the games the series would never have gotten as big as it is right now. Obviously Netflix is trying to cash in by riding on the games popularity.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

Gelantious

Nintendo should just release roms themselves on services like gog.com, or license it out to them.
It's obvious they can't be bothered to take their own legacy seriously so just let someone that does it well take care of it.

They can threaten to close as many sites as they want, but the roms are already out there. They can't remove them and they will just keep popping back up. Not to mention piratebay which seems to be immortal. So just offer people a legal, cheap and above all easy way to purchase them once and for all.

Re: Your Nintendo Switch Cloud Save Files Will Be Lost If Your Online Subscription Expires

Gelantious

Honestly this is exactly what I expected from Nintendo and their first try at an online service. They are novices in this area and will continue to make mistakes like this.

And for the people that are trying to defend this.... Storage space is cheap, insanely cheap and no one else behaves like this. For example, take Blizzard and World of Warcraft (or any mmo for that matter). When you stop paying your subscription they don't remove your characters and so on, even if it does take up space on their servers. It'll still be there when you resub. They even store data for games that don't have a monthly subscription like Diablo 3.
You also have Steam that saves game data for a ton of games, you don't pay a subscription for that services, or for being able to host screenshots.

Nintendo does a lot of good things, but they are also one of the more greedier game companies around.

Re: Illegal Game Sharing Site Mocks Nintendo's Recent Legal Actions With Trolling Video

Gelantious

If it weren't for those sites, a lot of people would never have been able to play a majority of those games since they were produced in such small numbers and are next to impossible to get your hands on the legal way.
As long as there isn't a legal option then I have no problem with these sites.

And as mentioned above, it's a loosing battle for Nintendo. You can't stop them. Instead stop wasting money on lawyers and build a good legal alternative.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services

Gelantious

It'll only be good if it's everything, all games, all platforms, ever made for one subscription.
If I have to pay a different one for Nintendo, another for Sony, a third for one publisher on PC and so on then it'll never work.

The movie/tv show ones are splitting up now, Netflix is loosing Disney as they are starting their own service and then there' hbo and so on. The amount of money each month for all of them is insane and it won't work.
People may go for one or two, and then they'll pirate the movies/shows from the other services. And then we're back to square one again because of their stupidity and greed.

Re: Blizzard Would "Love" To Have Diablo In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Gelantious

Nintendo can add keyboard & mouse support, StarCraft 2 gets released on switch. They add Kerrigan, Raynor and maybe Zeratul to Smash.

If Overwatch gets ported then I can see Tracer n such also being added...

In fact, now that I think about it Blizzard may just make their own beat'em up with all of their own characters.....

There's a loads from Warcraft universe as well.

Re: Nintendo Confirms It Won't Be Freely Supplying Extra Cardboard Replacements For Labo

Gelantious

Sucks they won't publish the patterns at least, it's such a small thing to do. And it would have let people modify and build their own versions with extensions of it.

Because I could definitely see people build upon the robot one, making full costumes and not just a backpack n feet. Wouldn't take long before we'd see gundam n what not inspired ones.

A missed community opportunity there Nintendo....

Re: Fire Emblem Warriors Devs Talk About Permadeath and Hardcore Mode

Gelantious

@TossedLlama That's a major bummer, guess it's too much work to make bow and magic animations/skills for them
Feels like it'll be very repetitive with all these sword characters only.

Which is odd since they had magic/ranged characters in Hyrule Warrior..

@Jessica286 One can hope they'll add more afterwards, though hopefully not behind payed dlc...

Re: Cemu Wii U Emulator Version 1.7.5 Shows Daunting Progress With Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gelantious

Game looks awesome at higher resolution. And don't see a problem with this emulator since Nintendo has officially stopped selling the WiiU systems, so once the machines people currently have breaks there would be no way to play the games you have bought.

If Nintendo were smart they'd get behind these guys, hire them and launch an official emulator to play the old games. Implement the DRM protection so you'd have to use the original GCN/Wii/WiiU disc to play if they are afraid of piracy. Or perhaps finally give up drm and play with the good guys (CD Projekt Red for example).
