Re: Reaction: Nintendo Shakes Up E3 With No NX and a Focus on Legend of Zelda

Funbunz

Well, this is new- get your e3 disappointment before e3 even happens. I'm starting to really believe that Nintendo WANTS to fail. It's just been one poorly thought out move after another from them, for years now. The NX is going to have to be absolutely incredible to win me over.
I've been a Zelda fan for almost 30 years, and to be honest I barely even care about the new game at this point. I won't buy anymore remakes, either. I will no longer rebuy the same old games on new consoles. How many times should we be asked to (over)pay for the same content? How many times, including the original golden NES cartridge, have I paid them for the original Legend of Zelda? Way too many! I'm done, and Ninty will really have to hustle to get anymore dollars from me.

In the past, this announcement would have made me much more upset. I realized my relationship with Nintendo is not working. If a person was abusing me emotionally, I would leave them, so why do I keep coming back to Nintendo? I recently got a PS4, and I think I have spent more time on it in the last month than I have played my Wii U in the entire past year. Nintendo can do whatever they want, I guess, and they will. But I am not going to support this disfunction and the flippant way they treat the core fan base, as if we are a bunch of "marks" to take advantage of.
Nintendo, I don't love you anymore, I think we should see other people and I have been cheating on you with Sony.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Hints at Smaller New Nintendo 3DS for North America

Funbunz

I've been holding out for that standard model, and it better be white with famicon buttons. Actually, at this point I'm thinking it would be better to wait for more info on the NX. Nintendo has proven they will be more than happy to sell you an item that has an upgrade coming. I mean, look at how they delayed n3ds in the US until after the Christmas shopping season. I realize they "need" to make as much money as possible, but that kind of stuff makes me so irritated. It's so inconsiderate to their customers.
In the mean time, I will continue playing MH4 on my old model, wishing it had better 3d and a c stick, and also wondering if I would be happier with a new Vita instead.

Re: The Prices of the Remaining Physical Goods on Club Nintendo in North America Have Been Reduced

Funbunz

Gee, THANKS, Nintendo. Thanks again for nothing. I already spent all my coins about two weeks ago, reinforcing a lesson I should really know by now- if I want something, wait a while, then wait at least another month. Inevitably it goes on sale, or they will announce a version I like better.
Like when I finally bought my 3ds xl (after waiting til E3 was over in case new models were announced, which they weren't) and less than a week later the Link Between Worlds bundle with the Triforce 3ds was revealed. That's why I won't buckle and buy a New 3ds XL now, even if they are on sale this week. The standard size that I wanted will finally hit the states if I get an XL.
Why the constant need to stick it to your loyal customers? We're the only customers you have left.

Re: Nintendo "Currently Investigating" The Idea Of A Region-Free NX

Funbunz

Yes! Remove region lock! I'm against any arbitrary policy that limits my choices as a consumer. And that goes for games AND consoles. If the new 3ds was region free, I would have been able to import one of those white standard ones from Japan.
It's not too late Nintendo, you can still get my $200. Just allow me to purchase the one I want, the money is all yours.

Re: Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Down Wii U Ahead Of Nintendo NX Launch

Funbunz

Wii U is over. I see that many people in these comments feel strongly that Nintendo would never delay the new Zelda for an NX release. These people need to consider Nintendo's position. They don't care if you are still enjoying the Wii U. It's been a disaster for them, and the longer they wait to replace it, the more likely it is they make another Dreamcast kind of blunder.
And I don't want to sound like I am bashing those systems, I thought they were both fantastic. It's just from a sales perspective. Sales of consoles that launch first are always hindered by people waiting to see what the other consoles will do. If they wait until too close to the end of PS4 and Xbox life expectancy, they will lose again.
If Mario Kart, Smash, and all the other great games can't move Wii U, Zelda won't either. If Nintendo uses it as a launch title, and we all know they NEED strong launch titles, the potential for total sales is much better long term than if it comes out on the Wii U in what appears to be it's last days.
I just hope Nintendo will learn what consumers actually want. I know they have been only interested in a dedicated game machine in the past, and I think that narrow minded thinking has really hurt them. They need to think big picture this time. N64 sales were low in part because cd players had become very popular and Playstations could play uour music. Gamecube was definitely hurt because it couldn't play DVDs. Then Nintendo made that same mistake twice more. I realize the Wii was a commercial success for them, but it was also hurt because Nintendo didn't anticipate the rapid jump to HDTVs.
I really hope they have taken a good look at why they haven't been as successful as they could be. I am excited for the NX, whatever it is. Don't blow it, Nintendo!

Re: Reaction: LEGO Dimensions Could be a Sales Phenomenon, and Nintendo Must Push It For Wii U

Funbunz

Sigh... Remember when the video game departments actually, you know, stocked GAMES? I go in there now and the tiny area still devoted to actual games is a disorganized mess with mostly missing stock, and the dumb toys are spreading all over everywhere the games used to be. I can't wait for the toys to life fad to die out and fade away. Needless to say, I will pass on the lego toys.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Plans for DLC and Microtransactions Point to Changed Priorities

Funbunz

I don't intend to sound like a whiner, but I don't like any of Nintendo's recent moves. Sure, I can pass on the new 3ds xl size and hope for the standard I wanted. I don't have to buy any overpriced dlc, or games that claim to be cross buy and are the price of two games. I don't have to waste time on any FTP Pokemon. But what does that leave? Seriously, the only games I'd really planned to buy this year (X and Zelda U) have no release dates yet. If Nintendo is insisting on changing products and services, and I don't like their new products and services, not to mention some of the pricing for said products, where does that leave me as a long term customer? I've been a Nintendo gamer for nearly 30 years, and I can honestly say I've never had so little interest in so many of their offerings. It's a lucky thing for me I have so many games in my backlog.

Re: Crunchyroll Pre-Order Bundle for Etrian Mystery Dungeon Includes Extra Goodies

Funbunz

@omalleycat215
The short "soundtrack" is part of the reason I don't have Persona Q yet. It's not like it costs more to fill a cd with music, I don't understand why they don't include more tracks. And having the art book from SMT IV be a guide was a cool idea, but it didn't help me navigate the confusing mess of an overworld that Tokyo is. I still get lost on my second playthru.
By the way, did you enjoy Persona Q? I've read the game is pretty good even though the cards and soundtrack are kind of lame.

Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U No Longer Set for 2015 Release

Funbunz

Delayed, huh? I'm not surprised. The only thing that bugs me about it is being lied to. They had to have had a pretty good idea that it wouldn't be done in that time frame when the announced the 2015 release. Did they announce it early to try to help Wii U sales? If so, it reminds me of the way the held back the new 3ds until after Christmas in the US so they could clear out old 3ds stock. A good move for their wallet, I guess, but this stuff damages their relationship with consumers.
So I suppose X will now be arbitrarily delayed until late November to fill the holiday void. That actually bugs me far more than the Zelda delay. They won't have much else out this year. At least we are getting close to more Mario Kart dlc.

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a Nintendo Direct to Set the Agenda

Funbunz

I'd like to see them wrap up some loose ends. We FINALLY got flipnote 3ds, even if it's neutered. When will the 3ds amiibo portal be out? When are we getting ds games on the Wii U? What is the deal with that SMT/Fire Emblem game that I got all excited for?
I'd also like my standard 3ds!
How about a sale on all the old Fire Emblem Awakening DLC to go along with lots of info about the new game, and a release date?
But really, Nintendo is beyond terrible at communicating with fans. And when it's so easy to disperse info anymore, there's just no excuse for it. Occasionally they send me an email about something I learned here months prior. What good does that do? Unsubscribed!

Re: The Nintendo 3DS Was North America's Best-Selling Hardware Platform In February

Funbunz

I wonder how that number of 3ds units sold will hold up next month. I would guess everyone who wanted to upgrade did so. I'm hoping the number drops low enough that they will decide to sell the standard 3ds here, so I can get one of those!
I'm quite surprised about the success of Majora's Mask. I decided to skip it, I reached my limit of rebuying the same game over and over. Will pass on Xenoblade as well, which is fine since I won't have a new 3ds.
Are you guys enjoying Majora's Mask on a handheld? To me, there are some games that are just way more enjoyable on a big screen. Anything first person, anything with a sprawling game world... Pretty much most Zelda games and certainly Xenoblade. I can't imagine really enjoying those titles as much on a 3ds.

Re: Video: What If Super Mario World Was A 3D Classic?

Funbunz

Too bad I can't watch this. I wish Nintendo would do more 3d classics, I really enjoyed Kid Icarus. It was fun to finally beat that game because I couldn't do it when I was a kid. It's unfortunate the other 3d classics (only about 3 or 4, right? Did I miss some?) weren't games I liked.
How about 3d Super Castlevania 4? And Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy 6 and maybe Chronotrigger? I would definitely want those!

Re: Weirdness: eBay Trolls amiibo Fans With Gold Mario Tweet

Funbunz

$200? Wow, is there anyone really foolish enough to pay that? Personally, I feel like regular price is too much for these things. I did buy a Pikachu, cuz I loves me some Pikachu. Definitely had some buyer's remorse tho. I still feel like they should actually come as a better value, like have a code for a game. Especially the ones that don't really do anything, (looking at you, Pikachu!) I mean why couldn't it have come with a download of Pokemon Yellow? Oh yeah, Nintendo doesn't need to add value, because fools will gladly overpay anyway.

Re: Talking Point: The Limited Edition Battle With eBay Scalpers Can be Tackled More Efficiently by Nintendo

Funbunz

Such limited stock, exclusives to certain stores, online preorders-These things are problems for average consumers. The longer this goes on, the more evident it is that Nintendo doesn't care. They would rather produce too little than have left over stock, and as long as someone buys it they don't care who it is. They can talk all they like about rewarding customer loyalty, but in the end, those are just hollow words. Time for action, Nintendo! Do SOMETHING to address these problems, or you will lose more customers.
I've given up on preorders myself. I'm sick of getting my hopes up just to be disappointed everytime a new "limited edition" comes out.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Funbunz

@DGGames, I really think you are on to something there. It's starting to look like Nintendo is going to do all of the shady things that some other game companies do. It's a shame, because one of the best reasons to be a Nintendo customer was that they didn't pull this kind of poop. Between their product stock issues, strange console decisions and now even games with micro transactions, I'm kind of worried about the direction they are headed.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Funbunz

@daveh30, I might be less vocal about this if I believed this was just a cost cutting decision. If it were, North America wouldn't be the only territory to be skipped. My belief is that it's primarily because the US is way more likely to buy a new new xl (see what a bad name "new" is, Nintendo?) every time they make a new special edition. Would they rather sell a new unit for $200, or faceplates for $20? Not hard to see which they would prefer.
And is that simply cutting costs? No, that is milking consumers.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Funbunz

@Yoshis95 I know, right? Just because they are happy with their xl, some people think they have the right to tell me what I like. Nobody can tell me what I will like (except maybe my wife,) not Nintendo, and certainly not random internet Nintendo fans. I think system comfort, whether in pocket or hand, is a very important consideration on a piece of portable tech that will log many hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Funbunz

I'm getting pretty sick of people telling me how well the 3ds xl should fit in my pocket. My pockets are my business, right? I don't need to hear from anyone how I should get to carry my 3ds. Yes, I can cram an xl in my pocket. It's uncomfortable and I feel like I'm going to break it if I crouch down. Also stop telling me I should enjoy the blown up display. Thanks.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Funbunz

This whole thing is silly, there are no acceptable reasons why the smaller version is not being released in the US. Can't they at least sell it online? Get with the times, Nintendo. I would love to order one online. I hate going in the games department in most stores. It's a convoluted mess with so many systems, out of stock games, and now half the space is taken up by gaming toys anyway.

Re: Nintendo of America's Damon Baker Explains the New Nintendo 3DS XL Decision and Desire to Engage With the Community

Funbunz

@Syrek24 I think most of us who are complaining here are doing so because these comments are under an interview by a marketing guy at Nintendo, and there is some small hope that someone at Nintendo may look through the comments. I don't think that's so unrealistic. That's why I'm complaining here. I know, first world problems, right?
Any article having anything to do with New 3ds is going to be fiiled with people venting in the comments. If all of this "whining" bothers you so much, I suggest you avoid this site. After all, aren't there better things to do in life besides get upset and be a sad, pathetic whiner in a video game news forum?

Re: Nintendo of America's Damon Baker Explains the New Nintendo 3DS XL Decision and Desire to Engage With the Community

Funbunz

Oh, so now they're interested in sending a "clear differentiation" for consumers? Maybe they should have done a better job naming their systems instead of assuming that people in the US are too stupid to figure out more than one new 3Ds size. I will read the rest of that interview, but this guy is rubbing me the wrong way.
"Huehuehue, yeah, we know this move will really irritate some of our core fans. Those plates are super cool, but they can't have 'em. Surprised if they can figure out how to open the box and even determine which is the top screen. (Laughs)"

I sure wish I was playing a fun new Monster Hunter 4 on my fun new white regular size 3ds. But all I hear is Nintendo saying that they don't want my money.

Re: Review: Blaster Master (Wii U eShop / NES)

Funbunz

One of my greatest gaming accomplishments as a kid was beating this game. What a challenge, I doubt I could do it now. I think the review score is too low. For the NES, this game had great graphics and one of my favorite soundtracks ever. I get those tunes stuck in my head all over again just by reading a review.

Re: Rumour: Rayman Could be Planned as DLC in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

Funbunz

@Mega719 I suppose you and I may have a difference of opinion on what constitutes shovelware. For me, it's any game that has it's redeeming qualities too overshadowed by it's flaws. Poor graphics, bad gameplay, strange or ugly art design, stuff that looks rushed and/or is a buggy mess - I won't waste my time or money on it. And I never meant to imply that all of Ubi's games are bad. Zombie U and Rayman were fine. Child of Light looks pretty cool, too. I'd probably buy that game if I weren't boycotting Ubisoft!

I was mostly referring to the recent info about the unreleased Know Your Friends, and any pet sim with "Z" at the end of the title. I also include as shovelware most dancing, party, and/or fitness games. Ubi churns these out quite frequently. And while those might not be shovelware in your book, they certainly are in mine. Also, I believe that a late, gimped, overpriced and inferior port of a previously released game should be considered as shovelware since you can easily buy the better version.

Secondly, I must respectfully disagree with your stance on whether or not a character should be included based on the company who owns the character. Smash is a very high profile place to have your character showcased. How many people have you played Smash with who had never heard of Fire Emblem or Xenoblade? Heck, my own kids had no idea who Duck Hunt was, and they were excited to try that game. ("Dad, this game kinda sucks...") Yeah, it kind of does, now. But back in my day...

Anyway, my point is that Nintendo has absolutely no reason to include anyone who is not a good business partner, and they typically don't. Otherwise, what happened to Solid Snake? Didn't Nintendo and Konami's relationship cool off a few years ago, like right after the mess that was the 3ds launch? I don't see any characters from EA. Or Square Enix. Lots of big names from big companies have always been MIA. Where is Simon Belmont? What about characters from Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy? I think a Moogle would be an awesome fighter! Sephiroth could be fun, too. But it's just not in Nintendo's interests to make that happen, whether we like it or not.

There are plenty of fighters not included, and many of them would be much better than Rayman anyway. But you can look on the bright side- maybe Nintendo will throw Rayman in, Ubi will be super happy, and then eventually you can get Watchdogs 2 at some point after all the other platforms have had it. You'll have to let me know if it's good, because I will probably still be boycotting Ubisoft.

Re: Poll: Are You An Early Adopter With The New Nintendo 3DS?

Funbunz

Nintendo: "People seem to really want Xenoblade. I know, lets release it again and require new hardware! Nah, wait, just requiring new hardware isn't enough of a jerk move- let's also limit stock and choices of the new hardware. Ooh, ooh! Icing on the cake- We can start releasing other Wii games just before hand for $10! But not Xenoblade! Just games everyone probably already bought once. Because that's how we like to treat our most loyal customers! Mwa ha ha!"

Re: Ubisoft's Unreleased and Finished Wii U Game Has Apparently Been Identified

Funbunz

I'm glad this was posted, I occasionally need a reminder of why I hate Ubisoft so much. I was SO close to a Wii U download of Child of Light while it was on sale, even if it meant none of the DLC options to go with it. The thing that makes me the most irritated about Ubi is their attitude towards Wii U gamers, they are essentially blaming us for their failure. No Ubi! We are just consumers, sell us a product we want, when we want it- not inferior, late gimped ports. Your failure is all on you, and judging by this game, it's no real loss to Wii U gamers.

Re: Live-Action Netflix Series For The Legend of Zelda is Reportedly in Development

Funbunz

I'm guessing comparing it to Game of Thrones is just mostly name dropping. They'd like It to be as successful as Game of Thrones. If Nintendo has opinions on the precise way that Bowser holds a teacup in Wreck it Ralph, I highly doubt they would ever let anybody get too experimental with something based on Zelda.
Still, I just can't see this ending well. Probably because nearly every movie or show ever that was based on a videogame has been pretty terrible. And if it does somehow work out, how about a Metroid show next? They can compare it to Dr. Who to get people excited and/or riled up...

Re: Satoru Iwata Reiterates Plans for Quality of Life Platform, and Suggests Potential Moves Into Education

Funbunz

@IceClimbers I realize that this is not a standard videogame type peripheral, but to me it makes no difference. In my opinion, Nintendo has a pretty shoddy record with anything that isn't a game or the hardware to play it on. Recent struggles with Amiibo and Gamecube adapters definitely won't help to sway my opinion about this. And I know, that's a stock issue and not necessarily a problem with future support or usefulness. It's still a problem, though.
I hope they will surprise me, and I am really interested to learn all about why I might want their QOL device. I just think Nintendo's track record justifies a healthy dose of scepticism about this.
