The game probably required a lot less money to develop, while they are able to rake in the profits. From a business standpoint this was a smart move. I personally wouldn't spend money on a F2P mobile game that's as basic as this, but the profits from these mobile games only help them fund bigger games on their platforms. It's a win-win.
Whatever it is, I just can't muster any anticipation for its reveal. Capcom really kicked me in the shin with DMC5's microtransaction garbage, and I'm nervous for all of their franchises.
True, it's going to have to sit on my wishlist as well. If it was $20 I probably wouldn't feel as bad about buying it just to shelve it, but my '19 resolution is to focus on my backlog and not impulse-buy so many games.
Can't really argue with that, though I would say that I would have gladly paid more for Hollow Knight and Owlboy. I know they were released on PC first, but they're some of my favorite games this year and Hollow Knight is one of my all-time favorites now.
Care to elaborate on that opinion? I'm not trying to instigate anything, I'm genuinely curious as to what makes this worth less than, say, your Call of Duty's or Assassin Creed's.
As for me, I've already thrown this on my wishlist and will get around to it a few months from now when my honeymoon with Smash is over. It looks and sounds great!

You're right that they aren't drawing from the same types of games, but that isn't the problem here. The SNES Classic has superior emulation quality and a better library. There are too many great PlayStation games missing in the PS Classic.
I really would have loved the PS Classic if they could have bothered to put Symphony of the Night, Legend of Dragoon or Final Fantasy Tactics in there. The game selection is abysmal and I have nothing against Sony.
You just said that someone who is shy wouldn't want to express themselves to others, so why on earth would she wear the get up she has? I'm telling you as someone who only recently got over his shyness a couple of years ago, the last thing I would have worn back then is something that brought attention to me.
A "maturing Rex" is no reason to give Pyra the outfit she has. I love her personality, she's a great character. That isn't the thing I have a problem with.
No one is saying that you can't like it, but the reverse is also true: Just because others like it doesn't mean I have to. I am an aspiring writer and I would never write a character like Pyra and then give her the outfit she has.
I'm straight, and sex for the sake of sex is unappealing to me. I love well-written characters and stories, and stuff like this can break my immersion. Like I said above, I have no problem with Bayonetta's costume because she's a total show-stealing diva and she's meant to be sexy. It just makes sense. Pyra's design does not make sense. I like her character, but it's butchered by her design that just makes it impossible for me to take her seriously.
@NEStalgia yeah, and the thing is that I'm really not trying to be prudish here. I love XBC2's gameplay, but the amount of fanservice that does nothing but work against the story makes it hard for me to say that it's my favorite game in the series. XBC2 for combat/gameplay, XBC1 for characters/story/world. I'd say their soundtracks are tied.
Ugh, give me a costume for Pyra too. She's so subservient and soft-spoken/shy, why is she wearing booty shorts and a g-string? I have no problem with characters being dressed to reflect their personality, but anime can be pretty bad about that. Innocent girl who dislikes attention? Get her half naked with her double E breasts popping out of her shirt!
Bayonetta is my favorite videogame character ever, and some think she's over sexualized but her skin-tight costume perfectly represents her personality, and she's more clothed than Pyra!
Yeah, this doesn't interest me at all considering how lame the battle system in GO is. Don't get me wrong, I'm an active player, but that's mostly just because it feels rewarding to walk around and catch Pokemon. When I want actual Pokemon RPG mechanics I boot up the real games.
I hate these crowd-funded horror stories, because there are so many good projects out there that people might be too cautious to chip in for thanks to stuff like this. It's just sad, and these guys should be ashamed of themselves. If you guys are looking for a great Link to the Past inspired game, check out Hazelnut Bastille on Kickstarter. Thanks for showing that game to me NLife.
Yeah, I finished the game because I was invested in John Marston and his story, but I just can't seem to get all that excited for the sequel. They went so in-depth with side content such as hunting that they actually made it a bit of a chore, and then they lessened the efficiency of fast travel. The idea I guess was to immerse the player, and I'll give them credit because the game is definitely gorgeous, well built, and immersive, but all of the things they've added actually took me out of it a little. I can appreciate a good RPG or a narrative-focused game, but I still want it to feel like a game. Sometimes you can overdo it and actually make your realistic game a little boring and I think after reading reviews for RDR2, that's what I'm worried about.
Exactly this, Octopath might be 2D, but man I really feel like it's the best-looking game to come out this year. The art style is GORGEOUS and artistic/creative visuals will always trump realism imo
@Zelda79 sadly it is. Not knocking RDR2, I've heard that it's a great game, but it seems like they've spent a lot of time working on things that really don't impress me all that much.
The original had a great story/characters, but I wasn't in love with the gameplay. Rockstar can't seem to get down good third person shooter mechanics, the reliance on lock on was always a turn off for me and the cover mechanics weren't great because the control felt so stiff. Rockstar games are always entertaining for their stories, but I have yet to really have a lot of fun with the actual gameplay.
I agree, I think some developers focus a little too much on hyper-realistic graphics and physics for the most unnecessary things (RDR2 horse genitalia). Art style is way more important to me, just look at Wind Waker. The original game is still nice on the eyes today, whereas MW1 looks pretty ugly compared to the more recent games in its series. Don't get me wrong, I was floored with The Witcher 3 when it released and it still looks good, but if you're going to put such a big emphasis on your game's graphics the gameplay better be top notch, or it'll just feel like you wasted too much time and resources focusing on visuals.
The art style isn't my favorite, but I don't dislike it and if the gameplay is fun, that's all that matters! Will definitely give it a watch on YouTube and see if it's for me.
They don't work in handheld mode, and they don't have a normal d pad. The only reason I'd consider using third party joy cons is for a normal d pad that has swapped places with the left joy con.

I can agree with that, I definitely would love more cartoon characters like Banjo for DLC but it's more likely we'll get yet another Fire Emblem character, probably from the upcoming game. I love FE but the amount of representation, FOUR of the characters being VERY similar, bothers me. It's alright though, daddy Sakurai outdid himself and I can't wait to play!

Being very excited for the game doesn't mean people think it's perfect, but you're foolish if you don't think this game is going to be amazing. It's the ultimate Smash game, a series full of amazing games and this one is the best yet. Calling people who are excited for this "the stupid masses" is extremely insulting. What do you think Sakurai could have done to make the game better? Sacrifice his first born and put twice as many characters in the game?
ALttP is better, fight me! Nah, in all seriousness Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece and even if it isn't my favorite Zelda game, it is probably the most important. The game floored me as a young boy and it still holds up surprisingly well today.
Comparing it to Shovel Knight isn't exactly fair man, that game is a masterpiece. The Messenger is still dang good, one of my favorite games this year.
Different strokes for different folks. This doesn't personally interest me, but as others said above, N++ is a great platformer with a minimalist aesthetic. If the game is fun, it doesn't matter how simple it is visually.
Lmao, if you didn't think grinding was mindless in past games I don't know what to tell you dude. I would literally watch Netflix or whatever was on TV back in the day while I moved up and down on a screen without looking waiting for an egg to catch and hoping RNG was in my favor, or just one shot a bunch of wild pokes to get my numbers high.
Pokemon isn't rocket science. It isn't meant to be.
Exactly, you really have to make your own challenge in Pokemon games. Pokemon is one of my all-time favorite series and favorite JRPG series for sure, but if I'm looking for difficult games in the genre I go elsewhere. Pokemon to me is all about going on a journey through a colorful and happy world with my own customized team, that's what keeps me coming back. You can ride on a freaking Haunter in this game! 10/10 10/10 best game best game
I'm sorry, but a 1/8000+ chance to catch a shiny is why I never bothered hunting them. It could take you DAYS of gameplay to catch one shiny before, and I play too many other games to dedicate that much time to a different colored skin. 1/312 is enough to still make it take a little time, but not enough to completely turn me off from trying. I'm so glad Let's Go dialed down the RNG. RNG only tests your patience, not your skill.
Tbh I would have agreed with you before playing, but I actually prefer catching to wild battles. Wild battles were never difficult unless you were fighting a legendary, but you still have to fight legendary Pokemon before capturing them in Let's Go. Having Pokemon out in the world really makes Kanto feel more alive than ever before. There's three things they need to fix in 2019's game, though.
1.) Bring back abilities and held items, and let us breed Pokemon again.
2.) Make the motion controls optional, let us play with whatever controller we want. Also make the catching mechanic more skill-based and accurate.
3.) Improve the enemy A.I and have them scale a little with your level, and give them more Pokemon. Seriously, I had a full party by the time I hit Viridian City and most trainers I fought would have one or two Pokemon in their team until the 4th badge. Oh, and maybe give us a difficulty slider so everyone's happy with the amount of challenge they're willing to take on.
Other than that, I truly believe Let's Go is a breath of fresh air for the series and I hope they build and improve on its foundation.
The game is really fun, and I'm looking forward to 2019's game even more. Tbh after X and Y I wasn't as excited for the series anymore, but Let's Go rekindled my love.

Nice to see you aren't biased. Ignored.

The game is really fun, and I'm looking forward to 2019's game even more. Tbh after X and Y I wasn't as excited for the series anymore, but Let's Go rekindled my love.

@Wanjia
I'm not really a fan of online only games.
